]]>If you are not already aware, the government announced plans for a new vape tax during the 2024 Spring Budget [1] presented by The Chancellor of the Exchequer, Jeremy Hunt in Parliament on Wednesday 6th March 2024. Hunt stated that the new tax will be introduced on 1st October 2026 after following a consultation.
This leads on from the Disposable Electronic Cigarettes (Prohibition of Sale) Bill, known as the UK disposable vape ban which was announced in January 2024 by Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak [2]. Although both of these latest announcement differ, they are both part of the Governments smokefree 2030 ambition to create a smokefree generation and to tackle youth vaping.
In this informative article, we break down the latest vape tax UK announcement address how much money the government want to add to e-liquids and nicotine containing liquids along with everything that you need to know about how this could potentially effect you and the 4.5 million vapers within the UK.
Summary: UK Government announced a tax on vapes in their 2024 Spring Budget. E-liquids will be taxed in on the 1st October 2026 by £1 per 10ml if nicotine free, £2 per 10ml if up to 10.9mg, or £3 per 10ml if 11mg or stronger. The tax could prevent many smokers switching to vaping or lead vapers back to cigarettes. The tax is currently going through a 12 week consultation where you can have your input.
The UK Government are currently tackling the rise in youth vaping and the imports and sales of illegal and non compliant vapes throughout the country. They believe that by rising the tax on vapes, they can greater control the import and sales of vape related products.
Jeremy Hunt stated during the 2024 Spring Budget that this latest vape duty was intended to "discourage non-smokers from taking up vaping", however chapter 3 of Vaping Products Duty Consultation [3] highlights further objectives of the tax as below:
To understand the true impact that the proposed vape tax could have, it's important to be aware of the current costs on vaping products that you may currently purchase.
Currently, there is no specific tax rate on any vape related products. This means that vapes, e-liquids, and related products are only subject to the standard 20% VAT rate. Although there is the possibility of medically licensed vapes being prescribed which would reduce the rate to 5%, there is currently no vape related product that has gained the medical licensing to qualify for this.
As it stands, the excise tax on vaping will raise £120 million in 2026-7 rising to £445 million by 2028-9. The UK government propose three separate tax categories which include both nicotine containing and nicotine free liquids as follows:
Although it's difficult to work out exactly how much vapes will be once taxed, we've worked out the average prices of e-liquids currently available and added on the tax to work out how much e-liquids could cost the average consumer per bottle once they are taxed in 2026 as follows:
E-Liquid Type | Average Price | With Tax Added |
10ml Freebase ≤10.9mg | £3.99 | £5.99 |
10ml Freebase ≥10.9mg | £3.99 | £6.99 |
10ml Nic Salt ≤10.9mg | £3.99 | £5.99 |
10ml Nic Salt ≥11mg | £3.99 | £6.99 |
11mg-18mg Nic Shot | £1.00 | £4.00 |
50ml Shortfill | £9.99 | £14.99 |
50ml Shortfill (3mg) | £10.99 | £15.99 |
100ml Shortfill | £14.99 | £24.99 |
100ml Shortfill (3mg) | £16.99 | £26.99 |
It's important to highlight that these prices are based of their current average and prices may change considerably between now and the proposed implementation of the vape tax in 2026. Although prices may be lowered where ever possible, other price factors over the next couple years could alter them too.
Either way, by looking at the prices more clearly, it seems that sub ohm vapers will be some of the biggest hit by the new vape tax on shortfill e-liquids, especially if they add nicotine to their vapes, although those vaping nic salts or freebase 10mls will also experienced a sharp increase in the cost to their e-liquids. Below we discuss the implications that this increase could have on both current vapers, or those looking to quit smoking with vaping.
The vape duty tax will be applied to all e-liquids regardless of their nicotine content. However, disposable vapes have already been set to be banned by 2025, which of course is before the tax is set to go ahead. With this in mind, disposable vapes will not be taxed before they are banned.
The Chancellor of the Exchequer, Jeremy Hunt stated during the Spring Budget 2024 that the government plan to add the proposed tax to e-liquids and nicotine containing liquids on 1st October 2026. This will however still need to go through a 12 week consultation [4] before going ahead as announced.
With over two years from announcement to implementing the tax, it's clear that taxing vaping products is not a straightforward process and requires a lot of thought and consultation to ensure that it does not impact the millions of vapers in the UK who have switched from harmful tobacco.
Although increasing the tax on vapes will provide further powers to the likes of UK Border Force and HMRC to help reduce the import of illegal vapes which is welcomed by Royal Flush Vape, there are serious concerns on how this will impact the millions of vapers in the UK who have already switched from traditional tobacco, or how this could prevent those looking to switch to vaping as a healthier alternative.
The additional tobacco tax is welcomed as it keeps vaping cheaper which is vital in encouraging smokers to attempt quitting cigarettes with vaping as an accessible alternative, however, this tax would see the likes of nic salts rising by £3 which make the average 10ml e-liquid RRP close to £7. In addition, vapers will also need to purchase their vape kit alongside their coils or pods which should all be taken into account.
According to the UK Government a 10ml e-liquid is the same as 100 cigarettes, however, with the advancement in e-cigarettes and longer drags with vaping, this is not a guaranteed measure and for this reason could possibly make price of vaping much closer to smoking when accounting for accessories and the variation. If there isn't much difference in the price it could lead those vaping back to cigarettes, or prevent those looking to quit smoking access to e-cigarettes and e-liquid.
It's worrying that although the National Health Service (NHS) and Public Health England (PHE) highlight vaping as a healthier alternative to smoking, with the NHS further stating that vaping [is] one of the most effective tools for quitting smoking [5], the vape tax could put off and prevent many smokers moving to the healthier alternative with vaping.
It's important to get the message across to the UK Government that their latest measures could negatively impact current vapers and prevent smokers from taking up the healthier alternative. The Government are holding a consultation for individuals, organisations, and businesses which we advise anybody worried about the implications of the latest tax to respond.

The UK Government's announcement of a new vape tax, set to be implemented in 2026, marks a welcomed step to tackle youth vaping and the import and sale of illegal vape products. However, the proposed tax, ranging from £1 to £3 per 10ml based on nicotine content raises concerns about its potential impact on current vapers and those seeking to quit smoking with vaping.
As well as possibly putting current vapers off, the tax may also deter smokers to switch to vaping as a smoking cessation tool despite endorsements from health organisations.
The consultation period runs for 12 weeks and is an ideal time for you to raise your issues faced with this tax if applicable if any change to the tax would possibly happen.
We'd love to hear what your thoughts are on the latest vaping tax. Please be sure to leave a comment below to share how you believe this will impact you!
Not currently, however, the UK Government announced in their 2024 Spring Budget that vape e-liquids will be taxed in 2026 regardless if the contain nicotine or not. The vape tax will see nicotine free e-liquids being hit with an extra £1 per 10ml, liquids with 0.1mg and 10.9mg having an additional £2 per 10ml, and e-liquids containing 11mg or more having an extra £3 per 10ml added.
Currently vapes are not taxed the same as cigarettes, they are only subject to the standard 20% VAT rate. However, in 2026 the UK Government will be adding duty tax to all vaping e-liquids with varying levels of tax related to their nicotine strength, which also includes £1 per 10ml for e-liquids that do not contain nicotine.
The UK Government have announced a tax on vapes which will come into force in October 2026. The excise tax on vaping will raise £120 million in 2026 - 2027 which will rise to £445 million by 2028 - 2029.
Yes. Vaping will be taxed in October 2026 by the UK Government as they continue to worry about youth access to vaping and the rise in illegal and non-compliant vape products and e-liquids. The tax will be applied to all e-liquids regardless of their nicotine content.
The UK vape tax will be applied in 2026. Going off current duty that will be applied, the UK Government will add £1 per every 10ml of nicotine free e-liquid used in shortfill or longfill bottles which will add £5 to 50mls and £10 to 100mls before any nicotine shots are added.
The UK vape tax in 2026 will add £1 per 10ml nic salt bottle up to a 10.9mg nicotine strength and £2 per bottle if its 11mg or higher in strength. This could bring the average price of nicotine salt e-liquids up to £6.99 per bottle as of October 2026.

Whether you're a beginner vaper or been vaping for many years, you may have questioned whether vaping can set off smoke or fire alarms. In this guide we look at the differences between smoke alarm designs, and fire alarm systems to identify their potential of triggering due to vapour created by electronic cigarettes.
By the end of this guide, you will have a much greater understanding of smoke alarms and the potential vaping can have around them with actionable ways to prevent setting them off when in a setting where vaping is permitted, but still has them installed.
It's important to highlight that we do not promote or endorse vaping in public places where it is prohibited to do so. For more information on laws and regulations surrounding vaping please be sure to check out our vaping in public places guide.
Never tamper with, disable, or cover a smoke or fire alarm. By doing so you may compromise your safety and others around you in the event of a fire. Always put your safety first and explore other solutions found within this guide.
Summary: Vaping can set off smoke and fire alarms, mostly Ionisation and optical designs. You should not vape anywhere you're not permitted to do so, although if you have permission to vape indoors, ensure there is adequate ventilation and you are vaping on a lower setting or with a vape kit that creates minimal vapour paired with higher PG e-liquid instead of heavy VG based liquids. If unsure or concerned, wait until you can vape away from alarms, or look at smokeless alternatives such as nicotine pouches.
You may have heard of smoke alarms and fire alarms, but did you know there is a difference between the two, which also affects the possibility of them picking up on vapour from e-cigarettes and cigarette smoke?
Smoke alarms simply work by detecting smoke, fire, or heat. There are multiple designs which we will discuss further, although each one works independently unless connected to a centralised system. On the other hand, fire alarms encompass many devices that offer more than just detecting smoke which welcomes a great difference between the two.
Generally fire alarms are connected to multiple building devices to widely spread alert throughout a building or site when a fire is detected. Fire alarms generally consist of multiple smoke alarms throughout a building where each one is best suited. One key difference between the two is that fire alarm systems are generally connected to electrical mains instead of relying on batteries to offer the highest level of protection.
There are three main types of smoke alarms commonly used throughout households and public buildings such as hotels, pubs, restaurants, including places of work. Each is designed to detect fire in different ways either focusing on ionisation, optical, or heat to detect fire and other potential dangers.
Below we discuss each design in more detail with how they can act around vaping so you can gain a greater understanding of how each alarm works and whether you should be cautiously vaping around them. Please note, that we strongly advise against vaping anywhere that it is prohibited. Always check with property owners or management for their vaping policy.
Ionisation smoke alarms work by ionising the air between two electrically charged plates. This type of alarm is activated when anything disrupts the current between the two plates, such as smoke. Ionisation alarms are less sensitive to vapour created by electronic cigarettes, however, they can still be triggered by vaping, especially denser clouds created by more powerful devices such as sub ohm vape kits.
Optical smoke alarms function by using an infrared light to detect smoke. When particles break this light beam within the alarm, it causes the light to be scattered which will then trigger the alarm.
Optical alarms can be triggered by e-cigarette vapour in the same way Ionisation alarms can, although once again this is generally only the case with larger vapour exhales from more powerful devices. In addition, shortfill e-liquid used with these devices has a higher Vegetable Glycerine (VG) ratio which creates a thicker vapour more prone to set off smoke alarms.
Mostly used within kitchen and garage environments, heat alarms are one of the least likely smoke or fire alarms to be triggered by vaping. These alarms respond to hot air created by fire. Once this hotter air enters the sensor chamber, most commonly 50°C or higher, the alarm will trigger. Although your coil will heat up to a higher temperature, the vapour exhaled should not set off a smoke alarm.
The short answer is yes, vaping can set off smoke alarms but there are exceptions. Vapour created by e-cigarettes can trigger a smoke alarm, most commonly an ionisation or optical alarm. These two popular smoke alarm designs can easily confuse vapour for smoke due to their similar density. However, with this said, the chances of vaping and setting off a smoke alarm depend on many other factors.
If you're vaping a more powerful device that's capable of producing more vapour, or using e-liquids with a higher VG ratio such as shortfills, then the chances of triggering a smoke alarm greatly increase. Although disposable vapes and pod kits create less vapour, there is still a possibility of setting off an alarm, especially an optical or ionisation design.
When it comes to vaping indoors where smoke alarms are in place, it can become annoying having to worry about the possibility of triggering the alarm. Although we do not advise vaping in public places where it is prohibited, there are many areas where vaping may be permitted but still have smoke detectors in place.
Even if you have permission, vaping in a room with a smoke alarm could cause it to go off. We would always advise vaping in a designated area away from any smoke detectors and where you have authorisation to do so.
If you do have permission but the area is within reach of a smoke alarm, then below we highlight the best ways to avoid setting off a smoke alarm when vaping indoors.
E-liquid that contains a higher ratio of VG produces a thicker vapour overall which can increase the chances of setting off a smoke alarm. If you're vaping this type of e-liquid, most commonly found in shortfills then it may be best to switch to a higher PG e-liquid such as freebase 10ml e-liquids or nic salts, although make sure you match these with the right device and settings for the best vaping experience.
If you're using a vape kit that offers adjustments, such as a traditional pod kit or sub ohm kit, it may be worth lowering the power setting to minimise vapour production. The higher the wattage of your device, the greater amount of vapour you will produce, which in turn can increase the chances of triggering a smoke alarm.
Smoke alarms should be installed on ceilings unless instructed otherwise as fire and heat rises. Ensure that you are not blowing vapour directly upwards, or in the direction of the installed smoke alarm to minimise triggering it. In addition, having open windows, fans, or air conditioning can increase ventilation and break down the vapour to reduce risk of setting off a smoke detector.
Lower-powered vape devices such as disposables, or starter kits produce smaller amounts of vapour which is less likely to set off a smoke alarm, especially when compared to more powerful devices such as sub ohm kits. However, if doing so, it's still important to ensure that you have adequate ventilation and to avoid blowing vapour directly toward a smoke alarm.
If your vape is still triggering a smoke alarm, or you're worried about vaping in a room that has one active, then your last option is to look at vaping alternatives that are smoke-free such as nicotine pouches. Although you will not gain the same sensation, pouches or other forms of Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) can at least suppress your nicotine cravings until you can vape once more.
Fire alarms utilise many type of smoke detectors in their systems which means that vaping could potentially set off a fire alarm. Unlike a single smoke alarm, setting off a fire alarm due to smoking or vaping when you're not permitted to do so can lead to fines from the likes of hotels or other risks if done so in your place of work.
We do not advise vaping indoors where you are not permitted to do so. Even if you have permission, vaping in close proximity to a fire alarm could cause it to be triggered and is not worth the risk. If you need to vape then we advise doing so in a designated area away from any fire alarms.
You should now have a much greater understanding on how smoke alarms and fire prevention systems work and what may happen if vaping around them. Although each have their differences in design and capabilities, it's clear that there is potential to set off the majority of smoke alarms if adequate vapour is detected in a badly ventilated room.
If you want to vape indoors where it is permitted and cannot do so in a room that doesn't have a smoke alarm installed, the best course of action is to ensure that the room is well ventilated and you are using a lower powered vape device and e-liquid with a higher PG ratio instead of heavy VG based e-liquids such as shortfills.
Vapes can trigger a smoke alarm if it has the ability to do so. Although they may not set off a heat alarm, those with a ionisation or optical sensor can mistake vapour for smoke and trigger the alarm.
Fire alarm systems may use smoke detectors and alarms as part of their system, if so they can potentially detect vapour from e-cigarettes.
Vapour created from electronic cigarettes can set off a smoke alarm, especially if it is an ionisation or optical design, although vapes may struggle to set off a heat alarm.
Vapour from an e-cigarette can trigger a fire alarm if it comes into contact with a smoke detector or alarm. Never vape indoors if you are not permitted to do so. If permitted, avoid blowing vapour towards the smoke alarm and ensure the room is well ventilated.
Yes, vapes can set off smoke alarms found inside hotels and other public premises including workplaces. You should not vape in a hotel room unless you are permitted to do so.
Although disposable vapes such as Elf Bar and Lost Mary produce small amounts of vapour, they can still set off smoke alarms, especially ones that utilise ionisation or optical designs.

The Oxva Xlim Pro vape kit has been around for some time and continued to rise in popularity ever since its release. However, the latest release from Vaporesso with the Xros Pro has welcomed a pod kit that's competing for the top spot.
It's been a while since we've offered a competing review, but both of these devices are gaining interest within the vaping community with many comparing the two. Although they both have their differences, the Xlim Pro and Xros Pro share many similarities making it difficult to choose between the two.
After testing both devices side by side over the past week, I break down both devices with an in-depth review so you can better understand the key differences and similarities to help you decide which vape kit is best for you.
Summary: The Oxva Xlim Pro and Vaporesso Xros Pro are both popular vape kits, with the Xros Pro offering some competitive features like a larger battery and an innovative design. However, the Xlim Pro excels in comfort and price. Flavour preference is subjective, but the Xros Pro slightly takes the lead in my opinion. Ultimately, the choice between the two comes down to personal preferences such as design and desired features, and ultimately the price for many.
When looking at both devices, there doesn't appear to be that many differences between the Xros and Xlim Pro vape kits. Both vape kits are compact in size and lightweight whilst utilising their own version of pods to offer a Mouth To Lung (MTL) to a Restricted Direct To Lung (RDTL) vaping experience.
The Xros is ever so slightly heavier and larger than the Xlim, but the built-in display on the Xros does feel more appealing. Both devices utilise their own pods and have USB type-C charging ports on their base with a screen on the front, however the Xlim has a button to the side, unlike the front on the Xros.
Below I highlight the core features of each device before going into each category to thoroughly review the similarities and differences to highlight which device stands out the most to help you decide your next purchase.
Oxva Xlim Pro | Vaporesso Xros Pro | |
Battery Size | 3.5 / 5.0 | 4.0 / 5.0 |
Usability | 4.0 / 5.0 | 4.0 / 5.0 |
Functions | 4.0 / 5.0 | 4.5 / 5.0 |
Style & Design | 4.0 / 5.0 | 4.5 / 5.0 |
Comfort | 4.5 / 5.0 | 4.0 / 5.0 |
Flavour | 4.5 / 5.0 | 5.0 / 5.0 |
Colour Options | 3.5 / 5.0 | 3.5 / 5.0 |
Price | 4.5 / 5.0 | 4.0 / 5.0 |
When it comes to battery size, the Xros Pro has the edge, with a built-in 1200mAh battery, it offers 200mAh more than the 1000mAh battery built into the Xlim Pro. However, with this said, it doesn't directly mean that the Xros will last longer. With the additional locking screen and more information displayed on the screen on the Xros, you'll find a slight increase in usage.
With this being said, the average vaper would still expect up to a full day from either device. Both kits feature USB type-C fast charging, although the Xros Pro wins on speed thanks to being capable of a full charge in just 35 minutes. I actually found that both devices lasted as long when used at the same wattage settings.
When it comes to charging either device, both have their charging ports located on the base of the device which means you aren't able to stand the device upright to keep the coil saturated. Although I personally prefer ports to be on the side of the device, it's very common these days for them to be placed on the base.
Winner: Vaporesso Xros Pro
When it comes to usability on either device, it's very hard to define which one is easier to use or more practical overall. Both pod kits offer a straightforward design, that can be both a great starter kit for beginner vapers, whilst offering functionality for an experienced vaper.
When it comes to refilling the 2ml pods, the Xlim Pro offers a simpler process thanks to a silicone plug on the side of the Xlim pods to refill, with the latest V3 Xlim pods having this at the top of the pod without having to remove the pod from the device.
On the other hand, the Xros pods also welcome a top-filling design, but to reveal the filling hole, the mouthpiece has to be snapped off with sideward pressure. This can be more difficult for those with mobility issues and can cause the pods to break if done incorrectly.
Both devices welcome a single fire button design which is used to adjust wattage, or to fire the device, although it's important to mention that both devices have inhale activation too so there's no need to fire the device.
The latest 0.4ohm Xros Pods allows for wattage to be adjusted in 0.5W increments, with the older pods only allowing for the choice between three vaping modes; Eco, Normal, and Power which is a restriction if you prefer using a coil with a higher resistance. However, this could be argued as more straightforward instead of having to scroll through all available wattage options.
Both pod designs are transparent which makes viewing your e-liquid level easy at a glance, although the Xlim pods do have a slight tint to them which can make it a little harder to see if light is reflecting off the pod.
When looking in depth at the usability of the Vaporesso Xros Pro and the Oxva Xlim Pro there are many differences and similarities which really makes this category difficult to rate. With a lot down to preference, as much as I hate to do so, this category is really a tie as there is no way to point one out.
Winner: It's a tie
Both the Oxva Xlim Pro and Vaporesso Xros Pro offer adjustable wattage and airflow control with much more precision when compared to traditional pod kits currently available. It is noticeable that the Xros Pro has a tighter draw when airflow is completely open when compared to the Xlim Pro but not too much to be a decision maker.
When looking further into the display, both offer a clear screen with the Xros being ever so slightly larger in size. In addition, the Xros Pro also displays the exact percentage of the battery which can be useful when you're looking to make the battery last throughout the day.
Thinking further about simplicity, the Xros also has a dedicated lock switch with a prompt showing on the screen when done, this is easier than having to remember a button combination such as having to press the power button four times in a row on the Xlim Pro.
It's clear that Vaporesso has looked at new ways to simplify the vaping experience with their latest Xros Pro which ever so slightly gives it the edge in my opinion, although either one you choose you're not going to feel as though you're missing something, unless you were to use both regularly.
Winner: Vaporesso Xros Pro
Both devices stand out with their designs, but this is generally down to preference. The Xros Pro welcomes a solid metallic finish that to me definitely seems more premium when compared to the shinier laser style, or carbon fiber texture on the Xlim Pro.
When it comes to style, the Xros stands out significantly with its display screen that is built behind the body making it invisible when not in use, almost like those fancy mirrors that have a TV built into them. I really like this innovative design as I personally have never had the chance to use a vape kit that offers this.
In addition to the main screen on the Xros, there is also a smaller lock screen higher up in the device that displays when locked which I thought was a nice added extra.
Although the screen on the Oxva Xlim Pro is clear and displays everything you'd like to see at a glance, including wattage, coil resistance, puff counter, and battery, it just doesn't stand out as much as the built-in screen on the Xros Pro which is why it wins in this category.
Winner: Vaporesso Xros Pro
When it comes to holding the devices, both are compact in size and offer a pocket-friendly pod kit, although the Xros Pro is marginally the bigger of the two when it comes to size. I personally think that the Xros looks almost like a doorstop shape when compared to the flatter Xlim Pro, but don't let this be a point of putting you off. Underneath that slight bulge are the two display screens discussed which makes it understandable and accepted.
Although the Xros Pro is also slightly larger in length, either device feels the same in my hand regarding size, although the Xros is noticeably heavier at 86g when compared to the 66g weight of the Xlim Pro.
The Xlim pods also welcome a larger surface area on the mouthpiece making it more comforting to vape, although this doesn't mean that the Xros pods are small, this generally comes down to preference.
Winner: Oxva Xlim Pro
When first vaping an Xlim device, I was pleasantly surprised with the flavour it produced, especially after vaping a wide range of devices from countless manufacturers over the years. I truly thought that Oxva had created a device that couldn't be beaten on flavour, but I have now had the chance to play around with the Xros Pro and it's definitely putting up a fight.
Testing both devices with a firm favourite of mine, Blueberry Sour Raspberry by Bottled Mary, in a 10mg nic salt strength, I honestly find it difficult to pinpoint which device offered the best flavour. I have vaped this flavour for over six months and always stated that the Xlim pods introduced me to the best flavour possible.
However, after vaping this in the Xros Pro for the past week, I have to tell you that I have never tasted so many notes of this flavour in any kit I've vaped... in a good way!
The Xros Pro pod kit has now introduced a new staple to me in e-liquid flavour and opened up a new world to me with one of my favourite nic salts available. I always hate rating flavours as they are obviously subjective and can differ significantly on the type of e-liquid and ingredients, but on this occasion I have to give it to Vaporesso for unlocking a new taste profile I've never experienced.
Winner: Vaporesso Xros Pro
If you're looking for a wider selection of colour designs, then the Xlim Pro does offer one additional option with a choice between eight designs, instead of the seven available with the Xros Pro. However, with this being said, the variety and difference in designs is less clear with the Xlim, such as their black carbon, and black gold essentially offering the same texture, but with a gold trim.
Vaporesso on the other hand appears to have introduced a more varied selection with no colours overlapping in their options which may welcome a clearer choice for some when deciding which design to go for.
Due to the significant variations on the Xros Pro, it wins this category in my opinion, however, it could be argued that the Xlim Pro offers a larger variety on paper. I'll leave it up to you on how you rank them.
Winner: Vaporesso Xros Pro... Debatable
Generally, Vaporesso offers competitive pricing with their pod kits, but as it stands the Oxva Xlim Pro stands out as the cheaper option at just £23.99 plus a free nic salt e-liquid at Royal Flush Vape. Priced at £29.99, the Vaporesso Xros Pro is slightly more in price, although you do receive additional functions and a bigger battery alongside a more unique design overall, plus this also is available with a free nic salt e-liquid at Royal Flush Vape.
Winner: Oxva Xlim Pro
If you're somebody who prefers looking directly at statistics, then below we lay out the technical specifications of the Xros Pro and Xlim Pro for you to clearly see any differences between the two to help you make your mind up on which vape kit to purchase next.

Regardless of which device you're leaning towards, after using both the Xros Pro and Oxva Xlim over the past week I cannot fault either device. The Xros has opened up new flavours with my favourite nic salt e-liquid, yet the simplicity and balanced flavour of the Xlim has really been a joy to vape. With their current prices, I believe that you get more value for money with the Xlim Pro, although the extra features and design on the Xros Pro are definitely worth considering.
I'm going to continue vaping both devices over the next few weeks and I'll be sure to report on anything new that I find. But for now, I strongly believe that the core decision makers on selecting the right kit for you come down to price, colour preference, and preferred features. Besides these, you'll really struggle to pick them apart much further.
What device are you leaning towards? Have you already picked up your Xlim Pro or Xros Pro? Let us know in the comments, we'd love to hear what you're going for and what it was that made you decide between these two latest devices.
The Oxva Xlim Pro is compatible with the Xlim pods which are available in both the side-fill V2 and top-fill V3 designs. The Xlim Pro is also compatible with the Xlim prefilled pods that are built with a 1.2ohm coil. Available in packs of three, both the 0.6ohm and 0.8ohm are offered straight out of the box with the Xlim Pro vape kit.
The Vaporesso Xros Pro is compatible with the Xros replacement pods which are available in 0.4ohm, 0.6ohm, 0.8ohm, 1.0ohm, and 1.2ohm coil resistances. These pods are available in packs of four with two 0.4ohm mesh pods included with the vape kit.
The Oxva Xlim pods can last anywhere between 10 and 20 days. This will all depend on the amount you vape and which e-liquid you select. Overall the Xlim pods offer a significant lifespan when compared to older designs available.
The Vaporesso Xros pods can last between 10 and 20 days, however, this will differ significantly depending on how frequently you vape and which e-liquid you use. When comparing the Xros pods with older pods available, there's a significant increase in lifespan overall.
We recommend pairing the Oxva Xlim Pro with e-liquid that has a PG ratio of at least 50% such as nic salts or 10ml freebase e-liquids. Although higher VG e-liquids such as shortfills can be used with the V3 0.4ohm pod, you'll find a longer lifespan with higher PG e-liquids.
The Vaporesso Xros Pro is best paired with e-liquids containing at least 50% PG such as freebase 10ml e-liquids or nic salts. There is a 0.4ohm pod that can be used with higher VG e-liquids such as shortfills, however, we generally advise higher PG e-liquids for the Xros replacement pods.

Big puff vapes have risen in popularity, especially since the disposable vape ban announcement by the UK Government in January 2024. Although the future of big puff disposables is uncertain, these latest TPD-complaint vape kits welcome up to 5,000 puffs per kit thanks to the ability to refill and recharge on to go, whilst also providing the same great nic salt e-liquid flavours you'll know and love from the likes of Elf Bar and SKE.
If you've never heard of these vape devices before, or looking for more information, this article looks into these latest innovations so you can gain a greater understanding of these disposable vape kits and find out if these are the devices for you.
Summary: Big puff disposable vapes are refillable and rechargeable and provide up to 5,00 puffs. With a built-in battery and refilling design, or changeable prefilled pods, these TPD-compliant devices deliver nic salt e-liquid in a 20mg strength and are perfect for beginner vapers or those looking for a simple and compact vape kit. It is not known if these devices will be banned under the disposable vape ban announced in 2024.
Big puff vapes are disposable-styled vape kits that offer 2,400, 3,500, 4,000, or 5,000 puffs thanks to being refillable and rechargeable, unlike traditional disposable vapes.
Although this type of technology has been used in the past in vape devices known as squonk mods, these devices are no longer compliant since the introduction of TPD regulations in 2016. However, these latest designs welcome a re-visited compliant design that introduces nic salt e-liquid in a 20mg nicotine strength to match the flavours found in popular disposables such as the Lost Mary BM600, Elf Bar 600, and SKE Crystal Bar 600.
Big puff vapes work differently than traditional disposable vapes that you may be used to. Instead of a single-use design with 2ml pre-filled nic salt e-liquid, these devices are designed to hold either a 10ml refill container or up to four individual pods. When combined you create an 8ml, 10ml, or 12ml holding vape kit that welcomes up to 5,000 puffs.
For devices that hold an e-liquid container such as the Instafill and Instaflow, you can either tilt the device or press a dedicated button for e-liquid to be drawn from the container into the 2ml pod. This can be done until the container and pod is empty where it will then need to be disposed of and replaced.
Some big puff vapes are designed to hold four separate prefilled pods that each offer up to 600 puffs with 2ml e-liquid in each. When combined into a dedicated vape device you will get a kit capable of delivering up to 2,400 puffs total. These devices usually have a twisting mechanism such as the Sky Hunter Twist Slim to switch between flavours.
To be compliant with TPD regulations, big puff vape components are packaged separately, for this reason, you will have to either attach the prefilled pods, or e-liquid container to the device to begin vaping. This is a simple process and once completed will not need to be repeated until the e-liquid is vaped, at this point it's time to replace the device with another.
Big puff vapes are available in a wide range of designs and e-liquid capacity, although the majority offer a minimum of 2400 puffs which is four times that of a traditional disposable vape, with the latest innovations offering up to 5,000 thanks to new coil technology and designs, including the QUAQ mesh coils in the Elf Bar AF5000. For this reason, you can generally expect one of these vape kits to last up to a week or two depending on how much you vape.
The best way to calculate how long big puff vapes will last is to measure your current use and compare it to the amount of e-liquid available in these devices. For example, if a standard 600 puff disposable vape lasts you two days, then a 2,400 puff vape should last you around eight days.
Unlike non-compliant disposable vapes that offer over 600 puffs, TPD-compliant big puff vapes do not have a pod larger than 2ml and do not offer nicotine strengths over the 20mg limit. They are able to offer up to 5,000 puffs as they are compatible with either a 10ml e-liquid bottle container or a combination of prefilled pods packed separately.
As a general rule of thumb, vape devices should not have a pod that is larger than 2ml. Although refill containers or pods can be added separately, if a device contains more than 2ml in the pod straight out of the packaging, or has a pod larger than 2ml then it is most likely to be non-compliant and should be avoided.
TPD-compliant big puff vapes are as safe as any other compliant vaping device. It's important to keep in mind that like all vaping products, you should make sure you use them and store them responsibly. We always advise reading product descriptions thoroughly, alongside any user manuals and/or warnings included within the device packaging.
As long as you purchase compliant vapes and use them in accordance with their intended purpose, big puff vapes are neither less nor more safe than any other vape kit or vaping accessory.
If you're a beginner vaper looking for a simple starter kit or prefer a simple vape kit without any complicated buttons, screens, or coil changes to worry about, then big puff disposable vapes are perfect for you. Thanks to a simple design, with effortless refilling and recharging capabilities, there is very little setup required, making them accessible straight out of the box.
Although it's not known if these devices will be included in the latest government vaping bill, they are an excellent alternative to disposable vapes, whilst offering the same flavours. If you're looking for a step up from disposables, then these vape kits are also ideal for you too.
Big puff vapes have many benefits, especially when compared next to traditional disposable vape kits. Thanks to being refillable and rechargeable, these devices welcome a longer lifespan whilst also reducing carbon footprint. With a simple design and ease of use, these vapes are also great for beginner vapers and are cheap and accessible for any preference.
Unlike traditional disposables, big puff vapes have built-in batteries that are usually between 500mAh and 650mAh, combined with USB type-C charging ports to recharge the device quickly and to ensure it lasts the lifespan of the e-liquid included with the vape kit.
Much like other rechargeable disposables, big puff vapes offer the ability to refill the device, or change prefilled pods on the go to ensure that your device always has enough e-liquid to keep you going throughout the day.
Big puff vapes are convenient and simple to use thanks to a user-friendly design. Offering inhale activation, these devices have no screens, buttons, or navigation to worry about. Once all pods or refill containers are installed, just simply fill up or change the prefilled pods when needed to continue vaping.
With a cheaper upfront price, big puff disposables are an affordable alternative to cigarettes whilst being a great starter kit for beginner vapers. Although they may not cost as much upfront when compared to other vape kits, it's important to note that over time they may work out more expensive than traditional pod kits.
Although big puff vapes have many advantages when compared to disposables, there are still limitations, especially when compared to other vape kits available. Great for beginner vapers, some may find their limited features and flavour options off-putting. When calculating the long-term cost, it's also worth noting they are not as cost-effective in the long-run.
Unfortunately, although these devices offer recharging and refilling options, the pod and coil are pre-built which means that once your coil burns out it's time to replace this device. If you're used to disposable vapes then big puffs are definitely a step up, however, bear in mind that they are still essentially single-use products overall.
Due to their simple design, there are no airflow adjustments found on these vape kits which means that you're limited to a Mouth To Lung (MTL) styled inhale. Although these are ideal if you're used to a tighter draw found on disposables or cigarettes, some may prefer a looser draw that can be optimised on pod kits.
Although big puff vapes are available in a wide range of flavours to match those in disposable vapes, nic salt e-liquid is available in a much wider collection with hundreds if not thousands of flavour combinations from leading e-liquid manufacturers.
Big puff vapes are cheaper upfront, although the price can add up over time. If you're looking for a long-term vaping solution then you may be best looking at traditional pod kits to pair with disposable-type e-liquids to closely replicate the same vaping experience.
Here at Royal Flush Vape, we stock a wide range of TPD-compliant big puff vapes from leading manufacturers such as Elf Bar, Ske, Sky Hunter, and Snowplus. Each is designed with its own benefits, below we highlight the best big puff disposable vapes currently available.
Big puff disposable vapes are classed as single-use vapes which means they are no longer usable once you have consumed the e-liquid available. We always recommend recycling what you can when it comes to disposing of any single-use device or battery. Thankfully, many of the latest devices such as the Instafill offer the ability to separate the battery to recycle it separately.
For more information on how to recycle your used vapes and batteries, please be sure to check out our guide to greener vaping, or reach out to us where a member of our customer support will be sure to help you reduce your carbon footprint.
It's clear that big puff vapes are a great alternative to traditional disposable vapes, although may not be as cost-effective when compared to other vape kits available. Offering a more environmentally friendly replacement to single-use disposables, these vapes are ideal for beginner vapers but do have their limitations that should be weighed up when deciding to purchase the latest device.
Even though big puff vapes offer refilling and recharging, it is still not known whether these devices will be included in the 2024 disposable vape bill that was announced in January 2024. Either way, if you're looking for a disposable vape alternative, or looking to quit smoking and start vaping, these latest innovative devices are ideal, without having to spend too much upfront.
It is not known if big puff vapes are going to be banned. Although traditional disposable vapes have been marked to be banned at the end of 2024 in the UK, big puff vapes differ due to being refillable and rechargeable.
The Elf Bar AF5000 offers up to 5,000 puffs in total which is currently one of the longest-lasting big puff vapes available. The Instafill provides 3,500 puffs, and the Instaflow welcomes 4,000 puffs which are also great alternatives to traditional disposable vapes.
Unlike other disposable vapes that offer over 600 puffs, big puff vapes are TPD-compliant making them currently legal in the UK.
Big puff vapes are 3 for £30 at Royal Flush Vape with prices starting from just £11.99. Although each device offers different designs each provides a varied range of puff counts.
Big puff vapes differ from non-compliant larger disposable vapes. Thanks to offering separate components that can be placed together, big puff vapes have a maximum pod size of 2ml and a 20mg nicotine strength.
All vaping products in the UK must follow TPD regulations. In short, any device that offers a pod larger than 2ml, or nicotine strengths over 20mg then it is not compliant with UK law.
Some big puff vapes are refillable with a dedicated e-liquid refill container. Although it may be possible to refill these devices with e-liquid separately when this runs out, the coils are fixed and there is no knowing how long it would last before burning out.

If you didn't know already, at the end of January 2024 the UK government announced a new bill that aims to give them the power to ban disposable vapes in the UK. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced plans on Monday 29th January 2024 stating that "strong action" should be taken to stamp out vaping in children as he highlighted the latest vaping bill.
You may not be aware that this bill also aims to grant the government new powers to restrict vape e-liquid flavours, introduce plain packaging, and change how vapes are displayed in shops to prevent the appeal to children. This latest bill also connects with the anti-smoking law and smokefree 2030 ambition [1] which will prevent anybody born after January 1st, 2009, from buying tobacco products.
In this article, we cover everything you need to know about the disposable vape ban in 2024. We will update this article regularly with the latest information directly from the UK government, industry bodies, and across the vaping industry, to offer simple and easy-to-understand content on how the bill has progressed. Be sure to bookmark this page as a reference point to stay in the loop.
Current progress: The Disposable Electronic Cigarettes (Prohibition of Sale) Bill [2] is currently going through the House of Commons in its first readings with the next reading on Friday 24th March 2024. Bill will then continue to committee stage and report stage, where it will then go through a third reading and move on to the House of Lords.
On Wednesday 6th March, The Chancellor of the Exchequer, Jeremy Hunt delivered his 2024 Spring Budget where a vape tax called the Vaping Products Duty. Set place to go ahead on 1st October 2026, the tax could see e-liquids taxed up to £3 per 10ml. We've created a separate article addressing the "UK Vape Tax - Everything You Need to Know" for further information on this.
The UK Government have also updated their "Creating a smokefree generation and tackling youth vaping consultation: government response" [10] on Monday 12th February 2024. They have stated that in order "to tackle the rise in youth vaping, the UK Government will take powers to make regulations to:
The UK Government intends these measures to be taken forward in secondary legislation which will be subject to further consultation".
Summary: UK government has announced a bill to ban disposable vapes, restrict vape flavours, and change packaging, due to the rise in children vaping and environmental concerns. There is no set date on when disposables will be banned as the bill still has to be passed into law. Contact your local MP if you're worried that restrictions could impact you in a negative way, such as returning to cigarettes.
According to a UK Government press release published on 28th January 2024; "Disposable vapes will be banned in the UK as part of ambitious government plans to tackle the rise in youth vaping and protect children’s health." [3]
The press release goes on further to summarise the latest vaping bill and the powers granted if passed through the House of Commons and House of Lords as highlighted below.
Although the main focus point seems to be on the banning of disposable vapes, it is clear that the government wants to grant additional powers to restrict and control vaping further in areas such as flavours on offer and packaging currently permitted. The core points of the argument are clearly about children vaping and the impact on the environment caused by single-use vaping products being disposed of.
Further on in this article, we address the concerns raised with further context from within the vaping industry, alongside data from authoritative sources to highlight the positives and negatives this latest vape bill provides, with ways you can act if you're worried about how this could affect you if passed as law.
There's a lot of confusion as to whether the latest bill announcement means it is now illegal to purchase, sell, or use disposable vapes. It's important to note that currently, the mention of banning disposable vapes is just a bill.
According to UK government, "A bill is a proposed law which is introduced into Parliament. Once a bill has been debated and then approved by each House of Parliament, and has received Royal Assent, it becomes law and is known as an act." [4]
This means that for now there is no set law in place for banning disposable vapes in 2024, although it does seem clear that lawmakers are in agreement that something has to be done to further prevent youth access to vaping.
The government argues that single-use vapes have seen a rise in youth access, alongside a growing concern over their impact on the environment. Although these reasons create a cause for concern, a blanket ban may not be the best solution.
Fash Ferdowsian, director at Royal Flush Vape warns that "the government's plan to outright ban disposable vapes and the possible restrictions on vape flavours could see a sharp increase in unregulated and illicit products entering the UK".
By taking away smoking alternatives that adult vapers throughout the country have relied upon to remain smokefree and away from cigarettes. Although we completely agree that e-liquids and vape kits should not be targeted towards children, flavour preference plays an important role in adult vaping as an alternative to smoking.
A survey carried out by Action on Smoking and Health (ASH) in 2023 [5] highlighted that fruit flavours are the most popular among adult vapers with very few having a preference on tobacco flavoured e-liquids (see table 1 [5] below).
If UK government was to restrict fruit flavours, or limit to tobacco and/or menthol flavours, this would have a negative impact on adult vapers in the UK with the potential to lead them back to cigarettes as an alternative. It's vital to get the balance right to prevent youth access, whilst also avoiding pushing adult vapers back to cigarettes.
The UK Vaping Industry Association (UKVIA) highlights similar issues in Australia which brought in vape restrictions making them only available through prescription. They state that "as many as 92% of vapers are buying their products through illegal channels and as many as 100 million illicit products are smuggled into the country every year." [6]
The core issues relating to youth vaping could be resolved by the government if the laws already in place to restrict the sale of vapes to underage people were enforced. Fash Ferdowsian further pointed out that "it's unfortunate that non-compliant vapes are being sold throughout the UK in places such as barber shops and takeaways with many having limited or no age verification in place."
If the government set out to enforce this area with more power and a welcomed increase in fines for those caught selling to underage people, it would become harder for children to obtain e-cigarettes from non-compliant retailers, whilst addressing non-compliant and illegal vapes found in the likes of barber shops, takeaways, and sweet shops.
When it comes to the environmental concern of disposable vapes, we've covered the potential impact of single-use vapes in the past with a guide to greener vaping and highlighted the importance and guidance on recycling any used vaping products.
Although we do everything in our power to minimise our carbon footprint, additional support from the government for the likes of better recycling schemes, or new funding for improved recycling centers could help address any environmental concerns.
Disposable vapes have seen a lot of negative press, especially over the last year, which seems to be the main target for UK lawmakers. Fash further stated that "as a reputable and UK-leading vape store, we do everything in our power to restrict vaping from those underage, with robust processes, and infrastructure such as 1account and MyCheckr, with closely monitored policies online and throughout our stores in Lancashire."
Although Royal Flush Vape strongly agrees that any vape-related product should not be aimed towards children, an outright ban on disposables or other measures that are still being reviewed such as restricting flavours could jeopardise the significant progress made in reducing smoking rates throughout the UK, whilst posing a threat to millions of adults who have successfully managed to quit smoking with the help of vaping.
In a recent poll conducted by One Poll, and highlighted by the UVKIA, [6] as many as 1.5 million vapers fear they would return to smoking if flavours were banned, and a significant 83% of vapers claim that flavours have helped them 'pack in their smoking habit'.
In addition, the Royal College of Physicians supports the use of a range of flavours, including fruit flavours to aid smoking cessation in adults. They state "the use of flavours by adults trying to quit smoking is an integral part of the effectiveness of vaping as a quit aid. Government should restrict flavour descriptors rather than flavours themselves." [7]
We understand that it's vital to safeguard children, but it's also important to ensure that those of a legal age and looking to purchase e-cigarettes have access to compliant vape devices and e-liquid to continue a reduction in smoking rates without posing a threat to the well-being of the public by removing products that have helped them quit smoking, and that could help many more switch to vaping which has been highlighted as 95% less harmful to your health than cigarettes [8].
There is no date set in stone for when disposable vapes will be banned in the UK. There are many measures that have to be met for any definitive law to be brought in for both disposables and other regulations the government has set out.
Although all parties have voiced their concerns over the rise in youth vaping, alongside the environmental aspect of single-use electronic cigarettes, the bill will have to be discussed and passed in both the House of Commons and the House of Lords, where any changes or amendments have to be agreed upon, before being signed off by the King which is known as a Royal Assent.
Only once all the above has been completed can this latest vaping bill be turned into a law, and there is no way of knowing an exact date on how long this could take or if agreements can be made.
Yes, until the bill is passed and laws are introduced, disposable vapes are still available to purchase in the UK. It is most likely that if/when disposables are banned, there will be a time period for retailers to sell through their stock.
For this reason there is not much reason to immediately worry if you rely on disposable vapes as an alternative to smoking, but we would recommend looking at disposable vape alternatives, such as starter kits paired with disposable type e-liquids to closely replicate what you are used to with disposables.
As with any change to vaping that we believe could cause a negative impact on UK adult vapers, we advise anybody who is concerned about these proposals in the 2024 vape bill to contact their local MP.
As highlighted, this is currently a bill and not a law as of yet, although a ban on flavours will negatively impact vapers throughout the country, especially with the proposed powers to restrict e-liquids, prefilled pods, and of course disposable vapes.

Yes. Although disposable vapes are set to be banned with a bill announced in January 2024, disposables are currently not illegal to purchase, sell, or use at the time of this article being published.
Disposable vapes are set to be banned with a new vaping bill introduced in January 2024. The bill aims to ban disposable vapes, whilst also giving the UK government power to restrict flavours and change how vape packaging is displayed.
Although the current bill set out by the UK government aims to ban disposable vapes, flavours, and packaging may also be restricted. If you rely on disposables as an alternative to smoking, we advise looking into starter vape kits and nic salt e-liquids to closely replicate the vaping experience you're used to.
The latest vaping bill is the Disposable Electronic Cigarettes (Prohibition of Sale) Bill which was publicly announced at the end of January 2024. This bill is not a law as of yet, but is currently going through the bill passage to become possible law. The new vaping law in the UK will set out to ban disposable vapes, whilst also granting UK government the power to restrict flavours, introduce plain packaging, and change how vapes are displayed in shops.
Under UK law, any vape cannot hold more than 2ml of e-liquid straight out of the box, which is approximately 600 puffs. Although the latest coil technology in some devices can offer slightly more, any traditional disposable vape that offers over 600 puffs from opening would arguably be illegal in the UK.
Disposable vapes are neither worse or better than traditional vape kits. As long as you purchase from reputable retailers and ensure the products purchasing are compliant with UK law, a disposable vape should not be any worse than any other TRPR-compliant device.
There is no set date for when disposable vapes will be banned as latest bill was only introduced at the start of 2024. However, the UK government have speculated that the banning of disposable vapes is expected by early 2025, with the law possibly passed by the end of 2024.
Possibly. The latest vaping bill is still to pass through UK lawmakers where amendments can be made to change the overall outcome of the law. It is most likely that the sale, import, and distribution of disposable vapes will be banned and you may still be able to use single-use devices that you may have. However, this will only be known for sure when the disposable vape bill is brought into law.

It's no surprise that there's often debate about vaping, but you may not have thought about vaping and its potential effect on your weight. With a rising interest in this query, we've created this in-depth article to address e-cigarettes, e-liquids, smoking, and tobacco, with insight into their components such as nicotine to highlight if vaping increases or decreases your weight in any way.
After reading this article, you will have a much greater understanding on the potential calories found within electronic cigarettes, including disposable vapes, and how the ingredients found within vape juice might affect your appetite, metabolism, and weight overall.
Summary: Vaping does not directly affect your weight, although nicotine and the habit of vaping/smoking can suppress your appetite leading to weight loss. Vape juice does contain calories, but they are considered negligible. If you quit smoking without Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT), you may gain weight as you remove appetite suppression. Do not start vaping/smoking for the sole purpose of weight control, or if you are under the legal age.
The technical answer is yes, vape e-liquids have calories but only a tiny amount which is considered negligible. Vape juice is mostly made up of Propylene Glycol (PG) and Vegetable Glycerin (VG), with added flavourings and nicotine in the majority. All of these ingredients listed contain a very small amount of calories which equals approximately four calories per gram. According to Columbia University [1], one millimeter of PG equals around four calories, which would make a 10ml e-liquid bottle around forty calories, or a disposable vape approximately eight calories.
Although we've highlighted that e-liquids do contain negligible calories, these can't be absorbed by inhaling vapour from a vape kit. You cannot inhale calories without physically consuming food or drink, as this energy is "digested and absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract to provide the body" [2].
If you're worried about directly gaining any weight from vaping, current science highlights that it is not possible as calories have to be consumed through digestion to be absorbed. Below we look a little further into vaping and in connection to weight, and explain things you should note in more depth.
Although you can't absorb calories through vaping, there are still indirect ways in which electronic cigarettes and vape juice can impact your weight. For the most part, any weight-related impact of vaping is down to nicotine. Below we look into the connection between nicotine and its possible impact on your health.
It's clear that nicotine used within vape juice can help you lose weight by depressing your appetite, but does vaping directly help aid weight loss? In addition to nicotine, the direct habit of vaping has been questioned if it can reduce food cravings as you routinely place a vape to your mouth throughout the day which could trick your brain into believing you're eating.
Although questioned and debated across online forums, there is currently no scientific evidence to highlight whether the habitual use of an electronic cigarette has any direct impact on food cravings and impact on weight loss. Either way, we do not advise replacing food with vaping as a substitute, and only use either in moderation alongside a healthy balanced diet.
Although nicotine does not directly make you lose weight, it has been identified as an appetite suppressant. If you consume nicotine you may feel less hungry which in turn could help you lose weight over time. Research carried out in 2021 highlighted that nicotine does in fact reduce appetite and food intake and reduces body weight. [3]
Although researchers are still unclear about the effects that nicotine may have on weight, they have highlighted that this could be linked to an altered appetite regulation, combined with an increase in energy burning during rest and physical activity.
Regardless of how nicotine is consumed, an article released through the National Library of Medicine (NIH) [3] highlights that "Nicotine suppresses appetite and increases metabolism, and also serves as a behavioral alternative to eating or a distraction from hunger or food craving".
Although nicotine can be consumed via smoking cigarettes or vaping, it's important to highlight that vaping has been stated as 95% less harmful than cigarettes by Public Health England (PHE) [4]. We don't advise people to take up vaping for the sole purpose of losing weight, however, if you are currently smoking cigarettes, vaping would be a healthier choice according to the facts available.
Although we have addressed that nicotine can suppress your appetite while also increasing your metabolism, we must stress that we do not advise vaping or using any other nicotine products for the sole purpose of losing weight. Vape products containing nicotine should only be used by existing vapers or those looking to quit smoking cigarettes, and those over the age of eighteen.
If you are currently smoking and looking to quit with vaping, please be sure to reach out to us where a member of our support team will be on hand to ensure you have the most successful chance of quitting and remaining smoke-free.
As you may already be aware, nicotine is an addictive substance that can be found in both cigarettes, e-liquids and disposable vapes. However, the majority of harm from smoking comes from the thousands of other chemicals that tobacco smoke creates when lit, with many being toxic. The National Health Service (NHS) also highlights that "e-cigarettes do not produce tar or carbon monoxide, two of the most harmful elements in tobacco smoke." [5]
It's commonly understood that people may gain weight after quitting smoking. This is not fully understood to this day, however, there are a few explanations that could lead to weight gain when stopping the habit. For the most part, these are directly linked to nicotine which could explain why many who switch to vaping do not experience the same noticeable weight gain.
Many who quit smoking cigarettes notice increased hunger as a withdrawal symptom. In addition, the suppressed appetite created by nicotine will be removed.
NHS inform points out that "some people do put on weight after they stop [smoking]. This is down to nicotine suppressing your body's natural appetite and making it burn calories faster". [6].
It is also noted that the habitual action of smoking is often replaced with eating as the mind looks to repeat the action. This is why vaping can offer a great smoke-free alternative whilst replacing this action.
Although there is a wide range of sweet and dessert-flavoured e-liquids, there are minimal calories actually found within vape juice which are considered negligible. Therefore vaping does not directly cause reason to gain weight. If you begin vaping lower nicotine strengths, you may notice your appetite could increase due to nicotine being an appetite suppressant. As long as you keep a healthy diet when cutting down on nicotine-strength e-liquid you shouldn't negatively impact your weight.
Through all research collection and review, vaping does not directly affect your weight. If using electronic cigarettes were to impact your weight in any way, it would most likely help with weight loss due to nicotine found within vape juice known as an appetite suppressor. However, we do not advise using nicotine products as a weight loss aid. You should only vape if you are of the legal age and want to replace cigarettes with a healthier alternative to smoking, as pointed out by Public Health England (PHE).
There is no scientific evidence to highlight vaping having any direct impact on weight. Although it's clear that e-liquids do in fact contain calories, these are addressed as negligible and non-consumable via inhaling vapour.
Overall there is no need to worry about vaping in relation to your weight. The evidence included in this article highlights that the use of e-cigarettes and vape juice, including disposables, will not impact your weight. When combined with a balanced and healthy diet, vaping is still considered to be 95% safer than smoking [4].
A 10ml bottle of e-liquid contains approximately forty calories with 1ml of PG containing four calories. This would differ slightly depending on the ingredients used within the e-liquid.
Vaping does not directly cause any reason to gain weight. Calories found in vape juice cannot be consumed via inhalation. If anything, nicotine is known to suppress appetite so you would probably notice the opposite reaction when vaping.
Vaping does not directly burn any calories, as there is minimal exertion involved, which means you cannot directly lose weight by vaping an e-cigarette.
Nicotine found within e-liquids can suppress your appetite. Although vaping can help reduce food cravings, it cannot directly stop food cravings and should not be solely relied upon as an aid to suppress your appetite.
Disposable vapes such as Elf Bar, Lost Mary, and SKE contain 2ml of e-liquid which equates to approximately eight calories. The actual number could differ slightly depending on the ingredients used such as flavorings and nicotine.
Neither; Vaping does not directly impact your weight as you cannot consume calories contained within e-liquids or disposable vapes. Although nicotine may suppress your appetite, it is not directly related to making you lose weight.
The short answer is no. Although vape juice contains calories, these are negligible and cannot be consumed. For this reason, weight gain so cannot be linked as a cause for increased weight, including belly fat.

The rules on flying with e-cigarettes are constantly changing and adapting with certain considerations to take into account. This article is updated regularly with content accurate as of January 2024.
The use of e-cigarettes on commercial airlines and travelling with your vape kits and e-liquids remains the same. Although vaping onboard any airline remains prohibited, the majority of countries still welcome vaping, especially throughout Europe. When it comes to purchasing vape supplies and vaping in public, it’s recommended to check with your destination country for further guidance.
Vape kits and vaping accessories are allowed to be taken onboard commercial aircraft although for the majority you’ll be required to keep these on your person in your carry-on luggage. E-cigarettes much like laptops and other electronics utilise lithium batteries which cannot be stored in the hold of a plane due to fire hazards.
You can expect to keep your device in the cabin with you (carry-on luggage), not your checked luggage. Your device should be separated from any pods or tanks with them as it will be counted as a battery and has to be stored safely.
Much like other liquids, you are permitted to take onboard e-liquids, although please note that the same regulations apply. Your carry-on-luggage must only contain a limit of 100mls in any variety of liquid, including e-liquids. For this reason, it’s important to highlight that if you’re planning on taking various other toiletries on board with you then you will have little allowance left to take onboard any larger shortfill e-liquids.
If you do take liquids in your hand luggage, gov.uk state the following:
Before going through security, you should ensure that any component attached to your battery is separated. You do not have to empty your tank, although this will have to be included within your declared liquids. It’s also advisable to empty your tank anyway as air pressure on the plane can cause your tank or pod to leak.
Travelling with a disposable vape kit has the same restrictions as any other vape kit however there are many benefits to flying with this type of device. Firstly, disposable e-cigarettes are light and compact making them much easier to travel with. With a disposable being a sealed unit, there is no need to separate a tank or battery.
Due to risk of electrical fire you must not take disposable vapes in your checked in luggage, you must only carry disposable vapes in your hand luggage (in a resealable plastic bag).
If you prefer using unregulated mods or rebuildables, it’s strongly advised to switch to something simpler for your trip. Something like a disposable kit is perfect for travelling as they are lightweight, compact and very versatile.
If you're set on taking your advanced kit and plan on taking onboard pliers, coil wire and other tools, you may be stopped at security with questions asked, especially if you’re travelling to a country where vaping isn’t that accepted.
Ensure that any sharp objects used for your build are placed in your checked in luggage.
Unfortunately, vaping is not permitted on any commercial airline. Many airlines now have specific instructions within their pre-flight notices highlighting vaping restrictions. Although there are many lower powered vape devices available such as certain pod kits, don’t think that vaping discreetly will be okay.
Although e-cigarettes are prohibited on aircraft, there is an exception when it comes to the Ryanair. The airline allow the use of the smokeless cigarettes they sell on board, however according to reviews and comments, they are most likely not as good as your current set up, although will provide you with the nicotine you may be craving whilst flying with Ryanair.
Even though you may be tempted to vape discreetly onboard an aircraft, airlines such as Qatar Airways have been known to arrest and imprison travellers for vaping on their flights. Even though you will be most likely warned to stop using your e-cigarette device first; vaping, much like smoking is not worth the fines or possible jail time for a quick nicotine fix.
Vaping in airports seems to have tightened up over recent years. For the most part, it’s widely accepted to vape within designated smoking areas if the terminal/airport you’re travelling from provides one. These designated areas are mostly signposted and within an outdoor setting although indoor areas are becoming more popular with airports over recent years.
Of the UK's 23 airports only 11 have a designated vaping/smoking area once you're through security and your luggage has been scanned.
These airports include:
Each UK airport has different regulations when it comes to vaping, below is some further guidance on the UK's major airports:
Gatwick Airport: Vaping is not permitted inside either North or South Terminals. E-cigarettes may be used in designated smoking areas clearly marked outside both terminals.
Heathrow Airport: E-cigarettes are prohibited inside any terminal building. Dedicated smoking areas can be located outside the terminal buildings where vaping is permitted.
Luton Airport: You may not vape anywhere within the airport grounds apart from the designated smoking area outside the terminal which is located by the front entrance.
London City Airport: E-cigarettes are prohibited within the terminal and once you pass through security.
Southampton Airport: Vaping is prohibited inside the terminal building and whilst walking to the planes. There are designated smoking areas outside the terminal building and before passing security where vaping is permitted.
Stansted Airport: The use of e-cigarettes has been prohibited indoors since August 2014.
Exeter Airport: Vaping is not permitted inside the terminal.
Birmingham Airport: Vaping is treated the same as smoking meaning that e-cigarettes may only be used outside the smoking facility.
Bristol Airport: You may vape in any designated smoking areas.
East Midlands Airport: The use of e-cigarettes have been prohibited inside the terminal since August 2014.
Humberside Airport: Use of e-cigarettes is not permitted within the terminal or outside the terminal entrance. Vaping is only permitted within the smoking area.
Newcastle Airport: The use of e-cigarettes is only permitted within the smoking shelters located at the front of the terminal building or in two other designated smoking areas found after passing through security.
Liverpool John Lennon Airport: You may only vape within signposted outdoor smoking areas.
Manchester Airport: The use of e-cigarettes is forbidden within the airport. Terminal 1 smoking area is located near the food court once checked-in and through security. Terminal 2 has a smoking area located on the upper level of the departure lounge. There is no smoking area within Terminal 3.
Cardiff Airport: E-cigarettes are prohibited inside the terminal. Vaping is permitted in the designated smoking areas which can be found outside the terminal next to Gate 2.
Belfast International Airport: Vaping is only permitted within smoking areas outside the terminal.
George Best Belfast City Airport: E-cigarettes are prohibited within the terminal building, outside smoking areas are available.
Aberdeen International Airport:An airside smoking facility has been introduced, after security. Located adjacent to the main departure lounge, near gate 5, passengers wishing to use the shelter will pay £1. Smoking after security, anywhere other than within this designated shelter, is strictly prohibited.
George Best Belfast City Airport: Vaping is not allowed inside the terminal building and there are no dedicated areas after security.
Whilst a disposable vape may be a good choice when travelling, our best recommendation for 2024 would be the Joyetech Widewick and VLTZ bundle; due to the wicking technology used it's much less likely to leak in hot weather and when travelling by air, it also includes enough e-liquid to last most people well over 7 days of vaping (the equivalent of up to 15 disposables).
When travelling aboard it’s important to first check on vaping restrictions within your destination country. Vaping is unfortunately banned in numerous countries around the world, mostly within the Middle East and Southeast Asia where the highest risks of punishment can be found if caught vaping.
Vaping is banned with possible imprisonment in the following countries:
India, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand

Bangladesh, Brazil, Cambodia, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Germany (only in the State of Hessen), East Timor, Egypt, Ethiopia, Gambia, Indonesia, Iran, Jordan, Laos, Lebanon, Mexico, Myanmar, Nicaragua, Palau, Qatar, Seychelles, Syria, Uganda, Vatican City, Venezuela, Vietnam
Vaping is banned (except zero nicotine) in the following countries:
Australia, Ecuador, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, Norway, South Africa
Disposable vapes are banned in the following countries:
Antigua and Barbuda, Bhutan

To ensure that you continue vaping whilst your travelling, it's important to make sure you have enough e-liquid. Always check with destination regulations on vaping to understand if you're able to buy or carry e-liquids to the destination country. If you're not able to buy them, ensure to pack enough e-cigarette refills or e-liquid in your luggage as highlighted above.
When travelling through Europe and international countries it's advised to look for licensed tobacconist stores for your e-liquid refills. It's also important to note that countries may have different limits on nicotine strengths when compared to the UK, for this reason be wary of using e-liquids which have nicotine strengths higher than what you are used to.
When returning back to the UK with any e-liquids you may have purchased abroad, it's advisable to to check their nicotine strength. If they are stronger than what you are able to purchase in the UK then they are most likely a violation of the Tobacco Products Directive (TPD). We recommend purchasing enough to get you through your travels so you don't have the hassle or worry brining any back to the UK.
Each airline has their own rules and regulations when it comes to travelling with e-cigarettes. Below we highlight a few popular airlines and their policies on vaping.
In general, the information provided above stands for the majority of airlines with the essential rule to follow of not vaping whilst on board their aircrafts. Also remember that any rechargeable batteries cannot be packed within your hold luggage and you must take them within your carry-on luggage.
If you’re travelling with an airline not listed above, you can find any information regarding their policies either on their website or contacting them directly.

If you're planning on a break away this year let us know in the comments below, we'd love to hear about your adventures! If you have any further questions or concerns about travelling with your vape kit be sure to drop a comment and we'll advise wherever possible!
Vape kits and e-liquid are allowed on a plane although e-cigarettes must be taken through security in your carry-on baggage as any electronic cigarette is strictly prohibited in hold baggage (checked luggage).
You should never attempt to vape any e-cigarette on any flight with many airlines now having specific instructions within their pre-flight notices. Even though you may be tempted to secretly vape onboard, doing so could cause significant legal problems.
E-cigarettes must be carried in your carry-on baggage so they can be checked by TSA customs. Electronic vape devices are prohibited in checked luggage.
Customs may check your vape device if it looks out of the ordinary. You have no reason to worry about TSA taking your e-cigarette unless it is severely damaged or could cause harm.
TSA will check your carry-on baggage when it goes through airport security which will include any vape kit and e-liquids that you are carrying.
Like any other e-cigarettes, disposable vapes are allowed to be taken onboard an aircraft. They follow the same regulations as vape kits and must not be used on the plane.
If you are caught vaping on a plane you could face significant legal problems. Airlines have been known in the past to imprison travellers for vaping on their, especially within middle eastern countries where vaping is banned.
E-liquids are permitted on aircraft like other liquids but must follow TSA regulations whereby containers must not hold more than 100ml and placed within a single, transparent, resealable bag.
Vaping is treated like cigarettes when it comes to airport policies. For this reason you may only vape within designated smoking areas at airports or outside the terminal grounds. If you vape in any other part of the airport it will be treated the same as smoking which could land you with a fine.
TSA does not have a policy regarding the use of e-cigarettes regarding minors or those aged under 18. Therefore anybody can take a vape on a plane regardless of age. However laws which prevent those underage vaping are still in force around the world and we highly advise that you do not vape if you are under age.

Vape batteries are allowed on an aircraft but must be packed in your carry-on baggage. Like other electronic items, e-cigarette batteries should be packed safely and presented to TSA for inspection. All batteries must be protected with exposed terminals insulated.
Vaping is permitted in all European countries, however it’s important to check local regulations. Many countries now treat vaping as smoking which therefore prohibits the use of e-cigarettes in public places. If you are unsure on where you can vape, it’s advisable to do so within a designated smoking area.
Many Asian countries have already moved to ban the use of e-cigarettes. Although there are still countries within Asia that permit the use of vape devices, it’s always important to check with destination authorities if you can vape in their country. Countries within South East Asia seem to have the strictest laws regarding vaping with the likes of Taiwan, Thailand, Philippines and India known to imprison those who break the laws.
Laws and regulations relating to vaping are constantly changing within the United Arab Emirates, especially with popular destinations such as Dubai. It’s strongly advised to check with destination authorities on local laws and restrictions. The UAE has some of the heftiest fines up to 2,000 Dirham (around £400) if you are caught vaping where it is not permitted.
South America has strict regulations regarding vaping with the use of e-cigarettes either banned or the laws uncertain. Within major countries such as Argentina, Brazil and Mexico, vaping is illegal. Although with Colombia and Peru there are no definite laws set out. Therefore we strongly advise against using e-cigarettes within South America.
With there being 50 states in the United States of America (USA) there are constant movements with the regulations on e-cigarettes and vaping throughout the country. In 2019, 13 states, 2 territories and 841 municipalities outlawed vaping within smoke-free public areas. Depending on the state, regulations on what is allowed may differ. Although the use of e-cigarettes in general is not illegal within the USA, it’s advised to check with the destination state(s) on local regulations and laws.
With over 50 countries within Africa, the laws and regulations for the continent are vast and ever changing. Major countries such as South Africa permit the use of e-cigarettes, however restrictions are in place to ban vaping anywhere smoking is also banned. If you are unsure of the vaping laws in your destination African country, we advise you to check with local government bodies for more information.
Although both within Oceania, there are different regulations and laws within Australia and New Zealand. Although vaping is legal in both countries, the regulations differ when it comes to the sale and use of vape kits and e-liquids; New Zealand allows the sale of e-liquids containing nicotine up to 20mg/ml for freebase and 50mg/ml for nicotine salts whereas the sale of e-liquid containing nicotine is prohibited in Australia.
The budget airline permits you to carry your e-cigarette on board however strictly forbid vaping onboard their aircrafts. There is an exception with the use of the smokeless cigarette they sell on board but their regulations are solely limited to this.

Below we highlight the best devices for whoever you want to purchase for to ensure that you select the best product for a much-loved gift. Although we highlight the best vape kits for each type of vaper, preferences such as colour, size, and design will differ depending on the person, for this reason, we advise finding this out beforehand to truly optimise the gifting experience.
If you're looking for a vape kit to help somebody quit smoking, we advise selecting a device that caters to higher-strength nicotine such as nic salts, whilst ensuring it is simple to use without any complicated buttons, settings, or navigation. Disposable vapes are the most simple alternative to smoking whilst offering stronger nicotine strengths, although prefilled pod kits offer the same great flavours whilst being more cost-effective in the long run.
Prefilled pod kits are also a great gift idea for beginner vapers. Thanks to simple designs, combined with prefilled pods, these vape kits are great for setting up straight out of the box. Prefilled pod kits offer the same great flavours found in disposable vapes, without having to replace the battery each time. However, for a more cost-effective gift overall, refillable vape kits provide the same great experience but with refillable pods to pair with preferred flavours and nicotine strengths.
Those with vaping experience may be the hardest people to gift when it comes to Christmas, however, this doesn't mean it's impossible. The most important thing to note with experienced vapers is that they have most likely found a vape kit and e-liquid combination that they prefer. This could include anything from disposables, pod kits, or sub ohm vape kits, which all vary in e-liquid strength, ratio, and flavours.
If you're looking to get a gift for an experienced vaper, we advise checking what they currently vape and finding something that matches their preference for the best possible gifting experience.
Starter vape kits are perfect for beginner vapers, although they also cater to experienced vapers as simple everyday devices with excellent flavour. Starter kits are available with both prefilled and refillable devices, with disposable vapes also being ideal for beginners. Below we provide further details about each type of starter vape kit to help you choose the best vape gift this Christmas.
Disposable vapes offer one of the simplest vaping products available. Prefilled with nic salt e-liquid, charged battery, and pre-built coil, disposables can be vaped straight out of the box. If you're looking to pick up a vape Christmas gift, you can't really go wrong with a disposable vape. These devices are great for beginner vapers, whilst being excellent devices for on-the-go vaping, even by the most experienced vapers.
Here at Royal Flush Vape we stock a wide range of disposable vapes available in a significant collection of brands and flavours which are available in 10mg and 20mg nicotine strength variations. Below we've hand-picked the best disposables for gifting this Christmas, although be sure to check out our disposable vape collection for even more flavours, brands, and deals.
Prefilled vape kits are one step beyond disposable vapes and offer much more value for money in the long run when compared to disposables. Thanks to offering simple designs, without over-complicated buttons, menus, or the need to refill, prefilled pod kits are an ideal gift for beginner vapers that can be vaped straight out of the box.
With a wide range of flavours available, these devices can be combined with the same great flavours found in disposable vapes, although being much more environmentally friendly and cost-effective thanks to the ability to recharge the battery instead of disposing of it.
Refillable pod kits are available in a wide range of designs which can differ between vaping options such as power output, charging, activation modes, and display screens. If you're looking to pick up a refillable pod kit for a beginner vaper, you're best looking for a device that offers simplicity without additional screens or buttons to confuse the user. Below we highlight the best simple and refillable pod kits currently available to pick up the perfect Christmas gift.
If you're looking to pick up a gift for an experienced vaper, you'll be pleased to know there's a wide range of pod kits and sub ohm vape kits with advanced settings built-in. These devices can make the perfect Christmas gift for those who have vaped for some time. However, it is important to mention that most experienced vapers tend to already have a set preference as they have tried and tested many setups over their time spent vaping.
For this reason, we advise checking what vape kits and e-liquids they prefer before picking up a vaping gift for them. Either way, we discuss advanced vape kits in further detail below to help you pick up the perfect present this year.
Sub ohm vape kits use coils that are below 1.0ohm which offer a larger amount of vapour when compared to traditional pod kits. Alongside greater vapour production, the majority of sub ohm devices offer advanced vaping modes for additional customisation. These vape kits are great for advanced vapers or those who have been using a lower-powered device and looking for something a little more. Below we point out the best sub ohm vape kits for gifting this Christmas.
Advanced pod kits offer everything you'll find in simple refillable devices but with more settings, display screens, and coil compatibility. Because there is no fine line between starter kits and advanced devices, it can often seem confusing when looking to purchase a pod kit as a Christmas gift. To make things much easier this year, we've highlighted the best-selling and customer favourite advanced pod kits below to ensure you pick the perfect present.
E-liquids can be a great budget-friendly stocking filler or added on to any vape kit as a Christmas gift. If you're unsure on which e-liquids to get, or need general guidance on the best e-liquid to gift this year, our guide below continues with a core focus on e-liquids to help you purchase the best Christmas present this year.
With so many e-liquids available, picking the right one as a gift can often seem overwhelming at first, especially with so many types, flavours, and strengths. No need to worry, we highlight below the main things to look out for when looking for the perfect e-liquid stocking filler this year.
Vape Device Type | Best Paired E-Liquid |
Prefilled Pod Kits | Prefilled Pods |
Refillable Pod Kits | Nic Salts or 10mls |
Sub Ohm Kits | Shortfill E-Liquid |
Disposable vapes | Cannot be Refilled |
Nicotine salts, also known as nic salts have grown in popularity since disposable vapes due to them using this type of nicotine. Offering faster absorption and a milder throat hit, nic salts offer bold and complex flavours most commonly available in 5mg, 10mg, and 20mg nicotine strength.
If you're looking to get a gift for a vaper who enjoys disposables, nic salts are ideally paired with lower-powered devices such as simple pod kits to get the optimal vaping experience. Higher strengths such as 20mg are great for smokers looking to quit cigarettes as the higher nicotine salt will satisfy cravings for longer whilst not being too harsh on the throat.
Before nic salts, e-liquids were generally only made with freebase nicotine. Although nicotine salts are now very popular, there are still many who prefer the flavours and throat hits that freebase nicotine has to offer. You may find that some experienced vapers prefer freebase e-liquids, although ex-smokers may also prefer this type of e-liquid as it offers a throat hit similar to cigarettes.
When it comes to purchasing freebase nicotine e-liquids as a gift, they are best paired with low-powered pod kits similar to nic salts. The strength and flavours really depend on the person purchasing for, therefore we would always recommend trying to find this out first before buying to ensure you get the perfect vaping gift.
Shortfill e-liquids differ to nic salts and freebase for many reasons. These e-liquids contain a higher Vegetable Glycerine (VG) ratio which makes the e-liquid thicker and created to suit coils under 1.0ohm. Also due to their size being over 10ml, they are not allowed to contain nicotine due to UK regulations, for this reason you would have to add a nicotine shot to introduce nicotine to a shortfill bottle.
Shortfill e-liquids are best paired with sub-ohm vape kits as they cater to the right coils and have enough power to heat up the vapour. Although it's possible to use these e-liquids in Mouth To Lung (MTL) pod kits, they could burn out the coil prematurely and may not offer the same vaping experience.
Available in 10ml bottles, nicotine shots contain concentrated and unflavoured nicotine which can be added to shortfill e-liquid bottles to make them contain nicotine. For example, if you add a 10ml nic shot with 18mg strength to a 50ml shortfill it will make the e-liquid 3mg nicotine strength. If you want to make a 100ml bottle the same it would require two nicotine shots of this strength.
Although vaping has been highlighted to be 95% safer than smoking by Public Health England (PHE) and the National Health Service (NHS), there are other smoke-free alternatives available here at Royal Flush Vape. One most notably increasing in popularity is nicotine pouches which we discuss in greater detail below.
Nicotine pouches offer a convenient way to enjoy nicotine without any vapour, odour, or tobacco. Pouches are to be placed between the upper lip and gum where they will gradually release nicotine and flavour to be absorbed for up to thirty minutes. Here at Royal Flush Vape, we stock a wide range of flavoured nicotine pouches with the latest collection from Tacja which is powered by leading vape manufacturer Elf Bar.

A sub ohm vape is an electronic cigarette that uses a coil with a resistance below 1.0ohm. Sub ohm vape kits are most popular with regular and experienced vapers as the vape will run at higher wattage and often have more complicated settings in comparison to other vape kits.
There is no harm in using 50/50 e-liquids with a sub ohm coil and device, although the flavour may be a little harsher on the back of the throat when inhaling. As a general guide you should aim for a 70VG / 30PG ratio for sub ohming.
Pod kits are vape kits that consist of at least a battery and a pod. Pod kits are often more simple and user-friendly when compared to other devices available and are ideal for those new to vaping to start out with, although they are also great for any vaper.
Starter vape kits are ideal for smokers looking to quit smoking. Built with simplicity in mind, starter kits are easy to use without confusion to greater the chance of quitting cigarettes.
Shortfills are e-liquid bottles that have extra space to add nicotine shots to increase the strength of the flavour. Most commonly you will find either 50ml or 100ml shortfills, with each having 20% room spare for nicotine. For example, a 50ml shortfill will most likely be a 60ml bottle with 50ml e-liquid. On the other hand a 100ml shortfill with be a 120ml bottle filled with 100ml e-liquid.
Yes, you can use shortfill e-liquids without nicotine. If you decide not to add nicotine to a shortfill bottle you will get the same great flavour with 0mg nicotine. The only reason shortfill bottles have space for nic shots is to offer preference to the vaper.

We're pleased to announce the introduction of MyCheckr which welcomes the highest accuracy technology of any independently tested solution whilst being the only GDPR-certified age estimation system in the world. By performing age estimation of customers with a front-facing camera, MyCheckr utilises a simple LED above the screen to show a red light which recommends an age check to be carried out, or a green light to suggest the customer is the legal age or above.
Created by Innovative Technology, MyCheckr is combined with staff judgment and training in line with Challenge 25 to successfully age-gate vaping products and prevent youth access to vape-related products. MyCheckr utilises an algorithm trained by looking at millions of people of various ages. The technology is completely anonymous and doesn't store or transmit data about the people whose faces it scans.
Fash Ferdowsian, Director of Royal Flush Vape highlighted "it's unfortunate that non compliant vapes are being sold throughout the UK in places such as barber shops and takeaways with many having limited or no age verification in place. As a leading vape store both online and in physical locations, we do everything in our power to safeguard children whilst ensuring those of age looking to purchase electronic cigarettes have access to compliant vape devices and e-liquid. MyChekr is set to aid our staff with future leading technology".
First implemented in October, MyCheckr has shown to be a great success in aiding our store staff when it comes to challenging ID. The Association of Convenience Stores Crime Report 2022 found that enforcing age restrictions leads to one of the top triggers for violence or abuse against staff. MyCheckr successfully aids our staff whilst protecting them from potential abuse.
As a responsible retailer, we recognise the importance of Safeguarding children and the prevention of youth access to vaping is paramount to us. We regularly train and enforce age restrictions throughout our policies. Although we do not solely rely on age verification technology to age-gate our products, MyCheckr has greatly increased positivity between customers and staff and has the potential to safeguard our staff in addition to children.
In addition to offering aid to our staff, MyChekr has been received very well by our customers with the shared agreement that everything should be done to prevent children from gaining access to vape products. "It's great to see technology being used well", said Ryan C, who regularly shops at Royal Flush Vape. "I was a little dubious at first, but when you think about it, it's a very clever idea. You read a lot about kids vaping these days and I think that anything to help stop this is needed, every credit to Royal Flush."
Pleased by the effectiveness and feedback received, Royal Flush Vape will now be rolling out MyCheckr across all stores throughout the North West to ensure we do everything in our power to prevent youth access to vaping.
MyCheckr technology is completely anonymous and does not store or transmit any data about the people whose faces it scans.
Although MyCheckr is able to suggest age checks with an impressive succession rate, it is currently only considered an aid to store staff who prioritise training and policies in place, including Challenge 25.
MyCheckr welcomes the highest accuracy technology of any independently tested solution whilst being the only GDPR-certified age estimation system in the world.
Although MyCheckr is only used within stores to aid age verification, our website utilises age verification via 1account to ensure we only sell vaping products to those of the legal age.

Nicotine pouches have been around for many years acting as a vape alternative to traditional Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT), to help smokers quit cigarettes. Although not entirely new, these nicotine products have continued to rise in popularity for those looking to stamp out smoking or those who currently use nicotine, especially with leading vape manufacturers working alongside nicotine pouch brands such as Tacja powered by Elf Bar.
As you begin to notice Nicotine Pouches more, you may have many questions such as what they are, how they work, comparing them to vaping, or most importantly if they're effective and safe. In this guide, we break down nicotine pouches to the basics to create a greater understanding of the product whilst providing answers to any questions you may have.
Whether you currently smoke cigarettes, vape, or you're an ex-smoker struggling to remain smoke-free, we cover everything you need to know about nicotine pouches including their benefits, limitations, safety, and usage so you can make your own decision.
Summary: Nicotine pouches may help smokers quit traditional tobacco by offering nicotine discreetly without vapour or smoke. Although vaping is backed as a much safer alternative to smoking and used within smoking cessation by the NHS, pouches are not yet studied enough to provide adequate data on their effectiveness. With many advantages highlighted, pouches do have drawbacks with few side effects to be considered. Either way the effectiveness will depend on your preferences and requirements.
Nicotine pouches are small bags containing nicotine, water, flavouring, and sweeteners alongside plant-based fibers in a powder form. This tobacco-free product offers a discreet alternative to other NRT available such as patches, gum, sprays, and vaping. Based on the initial Swedish invention of Snus, nicotine pouches available today contain nicotine synthetically or from the tobacco plant without containing tobacco. Available in a wide variety of flavours and strengths, pouches have a taste and nicotine hit for any preference.
Nicotine pouches are simple to use when you get a craving for nicotine. To use, take a pouch out of the box and roll it between your fingers to soften the contents inside. Once loosened, insert the pouch between your upper lip and gum just to the side of your front teeth whilst ensuring it is placed as high as possible and not sitting on your teeth.
Once in place, nicotine will begin to be released into the gum which will create a tingling or hot sensation to begin with which will decrease in severity over time.
Nicotine pouches generally come in a tin, plastic, or cardboard tub containing 20 pouches in your chosen strength and flavour. Depending on the brand chosen, nicotine pouches generally last around 30 minutes before they reduce and stop delivering nicotine to the body. Once you have used a nicotine pouch simply dispose of it, some packaging offers a lid compartment to place used pouches if you're on the go and not near a bin.
A pack of nicotine pouches can last anywhere from a couple days to a couple of weeks depending on how many you consume daily, however, we advise only using pouches when you have the urge for nicotine, we also do not recommend using multiple pouches at the same time.
Unlike previous creations of pouches such as Snus, nicotine pouches available at Royal Flush Vape do not contain tobacco; they are made from either synthetic nicotine or directly gathered from the tobacco plant the same way it is done for e-liquids containing nicotine or nic salts.
"Oral tobacco products are regulated and it is illegal to sell some products, such as Snus, in the UK" - ASH 2022. For this reason, you'll find that the vast majority of pouches in the UK do not contain tobacco but it's important to check what you're purchasing to be sure. As an advocate for smoke and tobacco-free alternatives to smoking, we do not stock any tobacco-containing products at Royal Flush Vape.
Nicotine pouches differ from other nicotine products such as vaping, patches, gum, or tablets whilst having both their advantages and limitations. Although it generally comes down to preference, there are unique differences that can make the decision quite confusing to begin with. Below we highlight the pros and cons of pouches to help you make your own informed decision on whether nicotine pouches are for you or not.
Discreet: Nicotine pouches offer a discreet alternative to smoking or vaping which are ideal in many situations where other products may not be viable. Thanks to being smoke-free, pouches are great when looking to satisfy nicotine cravings in enclosed public places such as public transport and venues where vaping is prohibited.
Convenience: Nicotine pouches are very convenient for on-the-go use whilst being great for those looking for an easy-to-use smoking alternative. With no need for batteries, coils, liquids, or settings, pouches are a simple solution that cravings without worry.
Tobacco Free: Like e-cigarettes, nicotine pouches are tobacco-free to offer a safer alternative to the chemicals found within traditional tobacco. Although vaping is highlighted as 95% safer than smoking by PHE, there is no direct research that relates to nicotine pouches with the popularity of them being relatively new.
Flavours: Although nicotine pouches are available in varying flavours, when compared to e-liquids there is a significant gap in choice. If you're looking for unique flavours or those available in e-liquids or disposable vapes, you may not find the same taste you're used to when it comes to pouches.
Nic Strengths: Available in numerous nicotine strengths, pouches do offer variation to select between, however, the range of strengths is lacking when compared to e-liquids which have many forms including freebase and nic salt e-liquids. You may struggle to find the perfect balance with pouches when compared to vaping.
Mimic the act of smoking: Although supplying nicotine to the body, pouches do not offer the same habitual process as vaping which closely mimics the act of smoking cigarettes. For this reason, many may find it more difficult to quit cigarettes or remain smoke-free if they rely on the habit in addition to the core nicotine addiction.
Evidence studies: Although studies have been carried out on nicotine pouches, there is currently not as much evidence on the safety of pouches as with e-cigarettes which are highlighted to be 95% safer than smoking by PHE with the NHS advising that those who use e-cigarettes to quit smoking can be twice as likely to succeed.
On the other hand, the NHS states that "tobacco-free nicotine pouches are fairly new in the UK and currently are not recommended as a stop smoking aid, due to lack of research on how safe or effective they are for stopping smoking".
You may already know that vaping has been highlighted to be 95% safer than smoking cigarettes, but what about nicotine pouches? Whilst nicotine pouches were not directly designed to quit smoking, they have widely become popular for those looking to replace cigarettes with a healthier alternative.
Healthline points out that unlike traditional tobacco such as cigarettes, cigars, or chewing tobacco, nicotine pouches do not contain tobacco leaves. This is rather significant when comparing the amount of harmful chemicals associated with tobacco combustion which also include tar and carcinogenic compounds.
Although it may seem clear that nicotine pouches are much safer than smoking cigarettes, Action on Smoking and Health (ASH) highlights that nicotine pouches "are not captured and by regulation of either tobacco or e-cigarettes and as such are only regulated under general consumer product safety regulations".
The National Health Service (NHS) does briefly discuss pouches as a stop-smoking aid stating "they may help some people with nicotine withdrawal symptoms", however, they cannot currently recommend them as a stop-smoking aid due to lack of research on their effectiveness and safety.
Overall it is most likely believed that nicotine pouches pose much less harm than traditional cigarettes with evidence pointing to help nicotine withdrawal without harmful chemicals found in traditional tobacco. If you are going to use nicotine pouches, we advise starting with a lower nicotine strength to begin with as a starting point and reviewing how they work for you.
Although nicotine pouches do not contain tobacco, they may cause side effects, especially if used incorrectly or if you use a nicotine strength that is too strong. If you ingest more nicotine than your body is used to then you could increase your chances of negative side effects. We always advise starting with a lower nicotine strength and working from there to judge what best works for yourself to avoid any potential negative impacts highlighted below.
Upset stomach: Consuming increased amounts of nicotine, alongside excess saliva created from a pouch can lead to stomach or nausea in some cases.
Mouth irritation: Some users may experience mouth or gum irritation, especially if they are already sensitive to nicotine or any individual ingredients within a pouch.
Hiccups: Excessive nicotine consumption may lead to hiccups or nausea which may be caused by irritation in some circumstances, therefore it's important to start with a lower strength.
When you first use pouches you may be concerned about a burning or tingling sensation on your gum, however, this is a usual feeling and is no direct cause for concern. This sensation is created when nicotine reacts with the gum as it's being absorbed. If you do find the sensation too strong, it may be worth trying a lower nicotine strength or flavour.
When looking at nicotine pouches and vaping there are many similarities and differences which can seem overwhelming at first. In this section, we look into both vaping and pouches as an alternative to smoking to address the core fundamentals of both so you to gain a greater understanding of these products to make an informed decision.
The biggest difference between vaping and nicotine pouches is the habitual process. Unlike pouches, vaping offers a process similar to that of smoking a cigarette, especially with many starter vape kits having a pen shaped style. Although both products provide nicotine, it could be argued that pouches do not replicate the same process as vaping which could be harder for those looking to quit smoking effectively.
In addition, vaping has been studied much further from leading organisations such as the NHS and PHE with both pointing towards vaping being 95% safer than smoking cigarettes. Unfortunately, pouches have only recently gained popularity with evidence based research lacking in regard to the effectiveness of nicotine patches as a replacement to traditional tobacco.
Either way, it's clear that neither e-liquids or nicotine pouches contain tobacco or other harmful chemicals found in traditional tobacco. With this in mind, both products remove the harmful effects found with smoking and could be argued that either offers a safer alternative to cigarettes.
For the most part, the choice between vaping and nicotine pouches comes down to preference. With that said, vaping has been around for much longer with much further evidence pointing towards its effectiveness as a tobacco alternative with the NHS now advising e-cigarettes through their NRT services.
The NHS highlights that those who use e-cigarettes can be twice as likely to succeed in quitting smoking than those who use other nicotine replacement products such as patches or gum. Although nicotine pouches may be ideal for smoking cessation, there is currently not enough evidence to support their effectiveness in full.
With no definitive answer to nicotine pouches being any better than vaping, we would revert to the advice that the answer is subjective to your own preferences. You may find that vaping works best, although pouches may also be a great way to suppress nicotine cravings without the harmful chemicals found in traditional tobacco.
The National Centre for Smoking Cessation and Training (NCSCT) and the University of Oxford highlight that a combination of NRT greatly increases the chance of quitting tobacco than using a single product on its own.
With this in mind, using both e-cigarettes and pouches may be a viable way to satisfy nicotine cravings, especially if you're struggling to remain smoke-free. However, with this said, we would advise against vaping with a nicotine pouch in your mouth at the same time as this may lead to excessive nicotine and could be a potential choking hazard.
Like other NRT products, nicotine pouches are available in many forms including flavour, nicotine strength, size, and quantity. If you're just discovering pouches it can seem overwhelming at first to know which ones will work best for you. In this section, we offer further context into the strengths, flavours, and brands to highlight the best nicotine pouches available at Royal Flush Vape.
Much like e-liquid, nicotine pouches are available in a variety of strengths up to 20mg. Although similar, the nicotine strengths in pouches are absorbed differently so cannot be directly related to vaping e-cigarettes.
When starting with pouches, we advise starting with a lower strength and working upwards if required. Although there is not as wide of a selection of strength when compared to vaping, there is still a significant collection available.
Nicotine pouches are available in a wide range of flavours including fruity, menthol, and sweet tastes. With brands such as Tacja now working in partnership with leading vape brands such as Elf Bar, you can now experience the same great flavours found in disposable vapes with nicotine pouches. Although there is still nowhere near as much option with pouches when it comes to flavour, you'll still find a varied collection to suit your preference.
Here at Royal Flush Vape, we stock a selection of nicotine pouches from leading brands such as Tacja, powered by leading vaping manufacturer Elf Bar. Tacja nicotine pouches are available in eight bold flavours created to mimic the e-liquids found in Elf Bar disposable vapes. With nicotine strengths available in 12mg, 18mg, and 20mg, Tacja pouches offer twenty pieces per pack to keep you going throughout the day to satisfy your nicotine cravings.
As nicotine pouches continue to rise in popularity, you should now have a much greater understanding of this vape alternative to make your own informed decision on whether pouches are an option for you. Although vaping is backed by both the NHS and PHE as a much safer alternative to smoking, whilst also being identified as a successful NRT, nicotine pouches are yet to to be studied in as much detail to offer direct guidance.
Pouches may be a great alternative to smoking when in public settings where vaping is prohibited such as with some enclosed public spaces, however with their advantages they still have numerous drawbacks to be considered. As with vaping, the effectiveness on nicotine pouches being successful varied depending on strength, flavour, usage and willpower to quit or remain smoke-free. If you're looking to try pouches, please be sure to check out our nicotine pouch collection to select from a growing and varied choice available.
Nicotine pouches do not emit any vapour or flavour which means that you can take them on a plane. However, it's important to check with the destination country to ensure that nicotine products are legal.
Although smoking is banned within enclosed public places alongside vaping being prohibited in many public settings, nicotine pouches do not produce any vapour making them ideal for consuming nicotine in public.
We advise against re-using nicotine pouches for hygiene reasons. Although nothing is stopping you from using a nicotine pouch again, you will not receive the same experience.
Nicotine pouches are not intended to be chewed, sucked, or swallowed. If you accidentally swallow a pouch there is no reason to panic. As well as being tobacco-free, pouches contain common ingredients such as water and food-grade ingredients.
Unlike Snus, nicotine pouches do not contain tobacco. Containing nicotine, flavourings, sweeteners, and plant-based fibers, pouches offer a simple alternative to traditional tobacco.
Nicotine pouches offer a much cheaper alternative to cigarettes with a pack of 20 pouches costing less than £5 with the average price of 20 cigarettes costing over £10.
Nicotine pouches are tobacco-free and contain nicotine, flavourings, sweeteners, and plant-based fibers
Nicotine pouches may lead to side effects which include an upset stomach, mouth irritation and/or hiccups.

Here at Royal Flush vape we're constantly working with leading manufacturers to provide the best vape kits and e-liquids possible to our loyal customers. With this in mind, we're pleased to announce the launch of JAK'D e-liquids brought to you by Dispergo which are now available at Royal Flush.
Focusing their efforts on providing an enjoyable alternative to disposable vapes, the JAK'D collection feature double the concentrate to enhance their e-liquids and provide a stronger and more satisfying taste. With an impressive collection which includes both nic salts and shortfill e-liquids, JAK'D e-liquids have a flavour and nicotine strength to suit everyone.
We sat down with account manager Sam Harris from Dispergo to find out more about JAK'D e-liquids, what sets them apart from others and any future plans they have as a company.
Dispergo started as a sister company of Jack Rabbit Vapes actually to create a wholesale and retail outlet that wasn’t associated with Jack Rabbit. As the brand developed people tended to take a liking to the Dispergo brand and more ranges started coming!
So JAK'D e-liquid was created to help disposable users to make the switch onto UK made e-liquid! We’ve noticed that the industry has moved back to disposable vapes and these vapes are super highly concentrated and super sweet. So we thought if we take our best selling flavours and double the concentrate of the flavour they would be a big hit! Also the sheer amount of bar liquids out there that seem to all be the same flavours, we thought we would try some new unique flavours.
The name JAK’D comes from the owners old gym days where people would talk about bodybuilders looking jacked! So it’s a play of the expression meaning its super strong!
JAK'D flavours are all sourced in the UK meaning the quality of ingredients are really high! We don’t use Neotame in any of the flavours. The flavours are all unique compared to current bar liquids available. The 50/50 shortfill was in aim to allow Mouth To Lung (MTL) users to be able to buy big bottles of juice (so a large cost saving) but also if a user add 100% VG nic shots the liquid is sub ohm-able.
Unreal Blue has always been the biggest seller in our biggest range from Dispergo the Unreal series. Lets face it, Blue Raspberry slush is probably the most popular flavour in the industry and we think we did it a bit different to others and that’s why it is so popular so we decided to JAK it and interestingly it hasn’t slowed the sales of the original flavour so it must be appealing to another market!
Jack Rabbit Custard Doughnut is another flavour that has always been a staple in the Jack Rabbit range so JAK’ing it was always going to be a winner! It also gives customers a chance to try UK made e-liquids as opposed to the bar juices from China.
I think the Testing stations and all the humorous point of sale material has really made a big difference to the range I really feel like the industry has taken a turn to a more corporate industry and we in particular miss all the fun the industry used to have! I mean we haven’t taken it to extremes but the mirror of truth I thought was particularly amusing!
There is always new things in the pipeline at Dispergo but for 2024. I can tell you we have 2 new unreal ranges including unreal Ice and Unreal Desserts and there may be a few new flavours coming to JAKD!
Here at Royal Flush Vape we are proud to stock JAK'D e-liquids as we continue to provide premium products and services to those looking to maintain a healthier alternative to smoking cigarettes. As we continue to focus on our core environmental ethos, we actively encourage those vaping disposables to move towards greener vaping with disposable vape alternatives such as JAK'D nic salts.
You can pick up any 100ml shortfills from JAK'D in our 2 for £25 deal or nic salts in our any 3 for £9.99 deal.

]]>You may have been vaping for some time already, or only just making the switch from smoking cigarettes, either way, you may have read conflicting information when it comes to vaping in public. Although smoking was banned within enclosed public spaces back in 2006, this did not directly prohibit the use of e-cigarettes the same way.
In this complete guide, we address questions and concerns about vaping in public places, including public transport, hospitals and driving. Providing an in-depth look into all forms of public venues and transport, we provide up-to-date policies from leading businesses and transport providers to offer a greater understanding of where you can vape within public areas throughout the country.
We actively update this guide to provide the most up-to-date policies and guidelines, however, these may be changed at any given time. For this reason, we always advise checking directly with owners or management wherever you want to vape to ensure that you don't break any policies that may be in place.
Summary: Vaping does not fall under the same UK legislation under the Health Act 2006. The majority of public venues, transport sectors, and hospitality tend to follow similar guidance when it comes to vaping in public. The best advice is to treat vaping as smoking when within enclosed public spaces, unless instructed differently. Vaping is permitted in outdoor public areas across the UK unless instructed otherwise.
Although there are regulations and laws in place to restrict smoking in public places, you may not understand potential restrictions when it comes to vaping. Legislation under the Health Act 2006 prohibits smoking in enclosed public places, which include workplaces, public transport and vehicles used for work. However, this is not directly the case with vaping. According to Public Health England (PHE), "e-cigarette use is not covered by smoke-free legislation" and therefore should not be routinely included in the requirements of an organisation’s smoke-free policy.
You will find that public venues follow legislation and guidance provided for smoking when it comes to vaping, with many that adopting their own vape regulations, across many industries and sectors. This guide provides in-depth guidance on vape regulations across popular public venues, transport sectors and hospitality to increase your knowledge of vaping in public.
When it comes to smoking or vaping in public, there are many significant differences that you may have questions about, or confusion about the different regulations in place for each. Throughout the UK, both smoking and vaping are generally permitted in outdoor public spaces unless otherwise stated. The main confusion and queries relate to the smoking ban which was introduced in 2006 which prohibits smoking within enclosed public spaces and if, or where these rules apply to vaping.
Unlike smoking, there is no visible harm from passive vaping. Cancer Research UK states that "there is no good evidence that second-hand vapour from e-cigarettes is harmful". It's also clear that vaping does not produce tobacco smoke which reduces the risk of passive smoke. NHS England further states that "e-cigs release negligible amounts of nicotine into the atmosphere".
Although some health professionals recommend not vaping around pregnant women, babies and children, "any risk from passive vaping to bystanders is small relative to tobacco cigarettes" - NHS.
Although vaping in public can be seen as less harmful when compared to smoking, many public areas do prefer to follow and create the same guidelines for either. You're always best treating vaping as you would smoking when within enclosed public places, whilst always checking with owners or management if you are allowed to vape inside their venue.
When it comes to public transport, there are significant forms which can make it confusing to understand where public vaping is permitted. For the most part, any enclosed public spaces ban smoking due to the legislation under the Health Act 2006. Unfortunately, although this does not include vaping or the use of e-cigarettes, many follow this legislation to create their regulations that closely mimic this ban for vape-related products.
Our best advice is to treat vaping the same as smoking; Although we understand there are many differences between the two, it's the safest option and could avoid you receiving any fines or having any services withdrawn. Our guide below looks into public transport further, whilst highlighting regulations in place when it comes to vaping across all major sectors.
Please note that although we work hard towards providing the most up-to-date and accurate information, we always advise checking directly with areas that we mention.
Unfortunately, vaping is prohibited on all major train operators. Although vaping does not fall under the same legislation as smoking, network operators including Network Rail, Avanti West Coast and TransPennine Express enforced a blanket ban on electronic cigarettes on their trains.
“For the comfort of other passengers, we do not allow electronic cigarettes to be used at any of our stations or on any of our services.” - Northern Rail
For this reason, we advise that you avoid vaping on any train regardless of where you are travelling as you may be evicted from travel. Always ask train staff for guidance if you are unsure, however, as it stands this is believed to be a complete ban across all major UK train operators.
Following the same restrictions for their trains, the majority, if not all train companies and stations prohibit the use of e-cigarettes alongside smoking on any of their rail platforms. If you want to vape at a train station, the best advice is to look for a designated smoking area where vaping will be permitted.
Below we highlight vaping regulations set out by major UK rail operators. With over 20 currently in operation, it's always best to check directly with whoever you plan on travelling with for the most up-to-date and accurate information.
Avanti West Coast: Both smoking and the use of e-cigarettes are prohibited on any Avanti West Coast train or operating platform.
Eurostar: All Eurostar trains prohibit the use of any electronic cigarette or smoking in general on their trains or platforms.
Northern Rail: Vaping has been prohibited on-board Northern Rails trains since 2014, alongside smoking or the use of e-cigarettes.
ScotRail: Smoking and vaping e-cigarettes is not allowed on any ScotRail trains or stations, including open platforms.
Thameslink: No smoking regardless of device. Thameslink do not allow e-cigarettes on any of their trains or platforms.
TransPennine Express: Smoking, including e-cigarettes or vapes are prohibited anywhere on TransPennine Express trains and stations.
In 2014 Transport for London (TfL) introduced a stealth ban on e-cigarettes throughout all of London's buses, trains and tubes, with the exception of bus stops as TfL does not have authority over these spaces. Although it was previously forbidden, a change to the "conditions of carriage" in August 2014 introduces a wide ban on vaping throughout the TfL network.
“The full inclusion was brought in this August to remove potential for confusion and allow staff to approach any customer either smoking or using an Electronic Smoking Device with confidence, ensuring that the No Smoking ban is fully enforced." - Jill Collis, Director of Health, Safety & Environmnet.
You may not know that the smoking ban for London Underground came into effect well before the smoking Legislation under the Health Act 2006. In 1987 a fire struck at King's Cross station which began with a dropped match on an escalator leading to a six month ban on smoking throughout the London Underground, this was then made a permanent decision.
The short answer to this questions is no. Although airlines restrict vaping on a plane, there are exceptions when it comes to some UK airports, or those located around the world. We have a complete Travelling With E-Cigarettes Guide that outlines restrictions on travelling with vaping products, with guidance on where you are permitted to vape within major UK airports.
Cruise ships and ferries differ from other public transport as they provide outdoor areas where smoking and vaping may be permitted. As with other public transport guidelines highlighted, cruise ships generally prohibit vaping alongside smoking within any enclosed space onboard, which includes your room or own balcony.
Below we cover current vaping regulations that are in force by major UK cruise lines. With an extensive list of operators, we've covered the major British cruise line operators below. Although we work hard to update this regularly, we always advise checking directly for the most up to date information available.
Cunard Line: Vaping is not permitted in staterooms, on stateroom balconies, in public rooms or in Churchill's Cigar Lounge (which is solely for cigar and pipe smoking use). Vaping is however permitted in designated areas on open decks.
Fred Olsen Cruise Line: E-cigarettes that do not emit any vapour are permitted in cabins or cabin balconies but not permitted in other non-smoking public areas. Electronic cigarettes that emit vapour may only be used within designated smoking areas.
Marella Cruises: Electronic cigarettes are not permitted within enclosed public spaces including your room. Vaping is only permitted within designated smoking areas of the open deck.
P&O Cruises: E-cigarettes, including those that do not emit any vapour are only permitted within designated smoking areas.
Saga Cruises: Vaping is prohibited from anywhere on board except for designated smoking areas. If you are travelling onboard Saga ocean cruise ships, this area is located on deck 11.
Below we highlight the major Ferry operators providing travel to and from the United Kingdom. Because guidelines may change, we do aim to update this article frequently, however must advise that you check directly with any Ferry company you choose to use to ensure you have the most accurate and up to date information.
Condor Ferries: Although Condor only state smoking is prohibited within enclosed public spaces on their website, when contacted they advised this is also the case for e-cigarettes and should only be used within designated smoking areas.
DFDS: Smoking which includes e-cigarettes, is not permitted in passenger cabins and public areas, which includes corridors, halls, staircases and arcades. However they are permitted within designated smoking areas only.

Like other public transport, vaping is prohibited onboard buses and coaches throughout the UK with little exception. Below we highlight some of the most popular coach operators within the country with their guidance and restrictions when it comes to vaping onboard their services.
Arriva: Smoking, alongside electronic cigarettes are strictly forbidden at any time on Arriva buses which applies to both passengers and Arriva employees.
Flexibus: Smoking and the use of e-cigarettes are not permitted onboard although can be used during scheduled stops and during scheduled breaks.
National Express: Smoking or vaping is prohibited onboard any National Express coach or bus station.
Scottish Citylink / Megabus: Passengers are not permitted to smoke or vape onboard any Scottish Citylink or Megabus coaches which includes no-smoking areas in any coach station.
Stagecoach: Smoking and vaping is not permitted onboard any Stagecoach which they state is due to health and safety of all customers.
Outdoor festivals most likely permit vaping with exceptions, however enclosed venues such as concerts may prohibited the use of e-cigarettes. Music venues including festivals, concerts and arenas differ significantly when it comes to regulations on vaping. You'll be pleased to know that we've covered all of these in our Festival Vaping Guide. Providing everything you need to know about vaping at music festivals and concerts, with up to date guidance and policies from leading events, our guide has the answers to questions you may have.
Much like other enclosed public areas, vaping in restaurants or cafes is down to the discretion of the owners and management. Although the smoking ban does not include vaping directly, many public venues, especially those providing food have their own policies in place that restrict vaping indoors.
For this reason we advise you to avoid vaping within a restaurant or cafe and vape within any designated smoking areas or outside the premises. If you really want to vape inside, please check with management to see if you are permitted to do so.
Smoking is prohibited across all NHS hospitals within the UK. Although this restriction often extends to vaping, there are many different approaches to the restriction of vape related products both within hospitals and on hospital grounds. A freedom of information request showed that around 50% of UK hospitals permitted vaping on their grounds with a rare few, including Nottingham University Hospitals (NHU) who permit vaping on their sites for patients, visitors and staff.
"The most up-to-date research on the effects of vaping shows it to be 95% safer than smoking (based on research by Public Health England). Vapes contain only a fraction of the chemicals found in tobacco, and a 2014 Public Health England independent evidence review showed that there is no evidence of harm to bystanders from exposure to e-cigarette vapour, and the risks to health are likely to be extremely low." - NHU 2023
Due to each hospital having their own approaches when it comes to vaping on their grounds, with some hospitals in the same area having different regulations, the best advice we can provide is to check directly with any hospital you need to attend.
Although the NHS highlight that "people who used e-cigarettes to quit smoking, as well as having expert face-to-face support, can be up to twice as likely to succeed as people who used other nicotine replacement products", there are many smoking cessation options available through the NHS. If you're worried about staying in hospital without nicotine related products, we advise speaking to a healthcare professional or pharmacist to talk through your options.
When it comes to vaping in pubs it directly comes down to the individual discretion of the owner(s) which can lead to conflicting information. A survey carried out by The Morning Advisor, 44% permitted vaping within their pub, however this still points out many do not. Our research highlighted that JD Wetherspoon, Greene King and Mitchells & Butlers have banned vaping.
The best advice we can provide is to check directly with the landlords if you are permitted to vape within their premises, if not you may be able to do so within designated smoking areas or outside the venue.
For the most part, hotels prohibit the use of e-cigarettes with many policies in place that state fines to discourage vaping. As a general rule, its advised to treat vaping like you would smoking when staying at a hotel, unless stated otherwise by management. Hotel smoke detectors can be triggered by vaping so we strongly discourage doing so. Look out for designated smoking areas within a hotel for places where vaping may be permitted.
Although smoking or vaping whilst driving is not illegal, if you're travelling with passengers under the age of 18 it is illegal to smoke within the vehicle and can see fines of £50. Although not directly illegal, there are guidelines to follow if you choose to vape whilst driving to avoid breaking the law.
According to National Highways, when driving, you must be in full control of your vehicle without any obstructions preventing you from seeing the road clearly. If you are vaping a higher powered device such as sub-ohm kit, or vaping frequently you could easily obscure your vision with vapour which would be deemed as illegal. In addition, you should not be distracted by your vape device such as changing settings or altering the screen whilst driving as this could also land you in trouble.
By reading through our in-depth public vaping guide you should now have a much greater understanding on regulations and policies in place throughout public venues and transport across the UK. Although we update this guide regularly, it's important to highlight that you should always check directly with venue owners or transport operators if you are unsure on whether vaping is permitted. As a general rule of thumb, it's best to treat vaping as you would smoking to avoid breaking any rules or policies.
Yes, both e-cigarette vapour and cigarette smoke can trigger smoke alarms in hotel rooms. Always follow hotel guidelines when vaping to avoid fines or eviction.
Yes, in addition to sensors which can detect vaping, e-cigarette vapour can create a sweet odor that could be noticed by hotel staff. Only vape in your hotel room if management have informed you that you can.
No, vaping in pubs is not illegal, although it is up to the landlords discretion if they choose to permit the use of e-cigarettes in their premises.
Although it is not against the law to vape in nightclubs, there may be policies in place which prohibit the use of e-cigarettes in club venues. Always check with owners or management of a nightclub to check their vaping policy.
No, the vast majority of cinemas prohibit the use of vaping in their screens. If you wish to vape at the cinema, you may do so within designated smoking areas.
The majority of restaurants and cafes in the UK have policies in place that prohibit the use of electronic cigarettes. Always check with management or owners, if unusre only vape in designated smoking areas.
Yes, there is no current law that prevents vaping in a car with children. However it is illegal to smoke cigarettes in a vehicle with anybody under the age of 18.
No, it is not illegal to vape on a bus in the UK, although the majority of operators have policies in place that prohibit the use of e-cigarettes onboard.
It is not illegal to vape on trains in the UK, but the majority or train operators have banned vaping onboard their trains or platforms.
Yes, you are allowed to take e-cigarettes onbaord a cruise ship, however it's important to check the laws and regulations of countries you may be travelling through to ensure that vaping is not banned.

There's no denying that disposable vapes have spiked in popularity, becoming one of the most popular alternatives to cigarettes on a global scale. Thanks to their simplicity and portability, many favour these devices, however many have never heard or tried any other vape alternatives which offer many benefits.
In this guide we focus on disposable vapes, with bar salt nicotine e-liquids as an alternative. We address the benefits of making the switch, with perfectly paired options for each brand of disposable you may currently be vaping. After reading this guide, you will have a much greater understanding of disposable vape alternatives, with reasons why you would want to make the switch, and the best choices to make that will optimise your vaping experience.
Summary: Although disposable vapes offer a great alternative to smoking cigarettes, they are not the most cost effective option and have potential negative impacts on the environment if not recycled. Nicotine salt e-liquids offer much greater value for money, whilst reducing environmental impact. By switching to e-liquids matched with a simple vape kit you'll both save money and optimise your vaping experience.
Disposable vape devices are single use electronic cigarettes that closely mimic the process of smoking cigarettes, without the harmful chemicals found within cigarettes, such as carbon monoxide and tar. The vast majority of disposables cannot be refilled or charged, making them single use only.
Available in varying nicotine strengths, disposable vapes most often contain either 10mg or 20mg nicotine salt making them ideal for beginner vapers, or those looker for a stronger nicotine hit. With their simple design and great flavour profile, disposables have quickly become a firm favourite amongst vapers, however they do have their disadvantages and limitations.
Although disposable vapes are a great alternative to smoking whilst offering a simple and portable vaping alternative for experienced vapers, they unfortunately carry numerous negatives. Below we highlight the disadvantages of disposables, including their carbon footprint, lifespan, and higher cost in the long run, for you to truly understand disposables to make your own informed decisions on your vaping future.
Disposable vapes may appear very affordable initially, however with constant use over a regular basis the costs can add up quite quickly. Because they cannot be re-filled or charged, there will also be a constant need to replace disposables instead of being able to refill and charge them.
Refillable vape kits offer a much more cost-effective solution over time, especially considering you can now pick up simple pods kits for not much more that the cost of disposables. If you are a heavy vaper it's even more advisable to make the switch.
One of the most highlighted negatives when it comes to disposables is their environmental impact. Like other single use products manufactured today, disposable vapes should be recycled wherever possible, however there is confusion to how they can be recycled, with many not knowing that they can be in the first place. This has led to disposable vapes being discarded and improperly disposed of at an alarming rate. A recent study from Material Focus highlighted that 50% of single-use vapes are thrown away, with 1.3 million thrown away each week.
Improper disposal of single-use vapes is a growing concern, and one of the most important reasons to switch to a more sustainable vaping alternative. However, if you are set on vaping disposables, we strongly advise that you recycle used vapes safely. For further guidance on how to recycle, check out our Ultimate Guide to Greener Vaping.
When it comes to flavour, disposables do offer an extensive range, however there are nowhere near as many options that you will find with nicotine salt e-liquids. If you're looking for matching flavours then you'll be pleased to know that many of the same manufacturers who create disposable vapes also create the same flavours in their nicotine salts.
In addition to a greater selection, you'll also receive much greater flavour with e-liquids used with a vape kit. Disposable vapes provide e-liquid that is pre-soaked on the cotton within, however this can soon dry and you'll notice that the flavour quickly reduces. By using a pod or tank, your coil will remain soaked at all times, as long as you keep it filled. For this reason you'll experience much greater flavour throughout, especially when compared to a disposable vape.
Unfortunately, disposables are a sealed unit with a battery capable of providing up to 600 puffs to be compliant with TRPR regulations. Once this battery reaches its end, or runs out of e-liquid provided within, then the device will need to be recycled and replaced.
Without the possibility of recharging or refilling, a disposable vape has a very limited lifespan, which is definitely a lot less than any other vape kit available. The majority of pod kits available today offer everything from replaceable coils and pods, to rechargeable devices and refillable pods or tanks. With so many options available when compared to disposables, you're guaranteed a much longer lifespan when replacing a disposable vape with other devices available.
Replacing disposable vapes with bar salt nicotine e-liquids replaces the negatives and limitations outlined above to truly optimise your vaping experience whilst saving you money, and reducing your carbon footprint over time. You may be hesitant to switch, especially if you have only ever vaped a disposable device, although the benefits in switching are definitely worth the jump.
If you're not aware already, there is an ever-growing selection of bar salt nicotine e-liquids that have been created by the same manufacturers behind disposable vapes. Created to truly match the flavours you're used to, there's e-liquids out there for every disposable. Below we address the most popular disposable vapes and highlight the best alternatives to switch to and improve your vaping experience.
Before you can vape bar salts, or any e-liquid for that matter, you'll first need to ensure that you have refillable vape kit. This can seem daunting if you've only vaped disposable devices, but for the most part it's pretty straight forward. If you're just starting out, look for a simple pod kit that offer a refillable pod or tank.
If you're looking for the most simple switch, there are also pod kits available that offer pre-filled pods. Although these are great for simplicity, they share the same limitations as disposables as you won't be able to refill them with bar salts and they have to be disposed of once empty.
Below we highlight the best vape kits for disposable flavoured e-liquids with both simplicity and flavour in mind. By pairing up any of the following devices with your matched e-liquids further on, you're sure to improve your vaping experience whilst saving money in the long run.
Elfliq nic salt e-liquid is created created by Elf Bar to offer the same great flavours you may be used to already. Regardless of which flavour you enjoy with Elf Bar disposables, you'll be able to replace these with Elfliq in the same nicotine strength you're used to.
You may have noticed Mary bloody, lost and found, but now she's bottled. Experience the same great flavours you know and love from either Lost Mary, Found Mary or Bloody Mary with the bar salt equivalent Bottled Mary, available in both 10mg and 20mg nicotine strength.
If you've been enjoying Crystal Bars, you'll be pleased to know that that SKE, the manufacturer behind these disposables now have their own range of nicotine salt e-liquids known as SKE crystal original nic salts. Experience the same great flavours throughout their collection.
Geekvape currently do not provide their own e-liquids, however there are numerous other brands that offer similar flavours, most notably VLTZ. With an extensive collection of nicotine salt e-liquids, your sure to find one that matches your favourite Geekbar disposable.
Kilk Klak disposables by Element offer a unique possibility to combine two devices for a total of 4ml e-liquid. Although this is great for longer days or time away, it's no match to a refillable device and a bottle of e-liquid to keep you going. Bar Juice nic salts provide the same great flavours as Kilk Klaks and Elf Bars at a fraction of the price over time.
Elux Bar disposables offer an impressive collection of flavours by Eluxtech. If you've been enjoying these flavours, then you'll be happy to know that these are now also available in nicotine salt e-liquids. Regardless of what your favourite flavour is, Eluxtech have you covered.
Power Bar disposables by Juice N Power offer a varied collection of flavours, however this is nowhere near the amount of nic salt e-liquids that they have available. If you've been enjoying Power Bars, the switch to Juice N Power e-liquids will be a refreshing change.
Whether you're used to Nasty Fix disposables or their Air Fix 2.0 versions, Nasty Juice also provide an extensive collection of nicotine salt e-liquids, and have done well before their disposable devices. If you're enjoying Nasty devices, then be sure to check out their e-liquids.
Vampire Vape teamed up with Geekbar sometime ago to create their own version of disposable vapes. These devices are created to match their iconic and favourite flavours such as Heisenberg and Blood Sukka. The good news is that these flavours are readily available in their nicotine salt e-liquids.
If you've been wanting to make the switch from disposable vapes but didn't know where to go, you should now have a much greater understanding of the alternatives available when it comes to replacing disposables with nicotine salt e-liquids. As a more cost effective solution, combined with a smaller carbon footprint, vape kits that offer refillable pods or tanks are a great solution to enjoy disposable vape flavours in the long run to optimise your vaping experience.
Although there is no set laws in place, UK councils are calling on the government for a ban on disposable vapes by the year 2024. The main worries for this are due to the environmental impact from improper disposable of single use vaping products.
There are many reasons why you should switch from disposable vapes. Not only are they less cost-effective in the long run, there is also less choice available when it comes to flavour and nicotine. In addition, improper disposal of these devices can cause a negative impact on the environment.
There are many e-liquid collections available that match the flavours in disposable vapes. Commonly known as bar salts, nicotine salt or nic salt e-liquids are now provided by the same manufacturers behind the most popular disposables, including Elf Bar, Lost Mary, Crystal Bars and Elux Bars.
Elfliq e-liquids are created by Elf Bar to provide the same great flavours you're used to from their disposable vape collection. Although Bar Juice 5000 e-liquids closely match the Elf Bar flavours, Elfliq is created directly from Elf Bar with the same ingredients used in their disposables.
The simplest alternative to disposable vapes are pre-filled pod kits. Providing a device and pod that is pre-filled with e-liquid, you can find vape kits created by leading disposable vape manufacturers with the same flavours on offer. A more sustainable choice would be a refillable pod kit combined with disposable flavoured nic salt e-liquids.
If you're trying to replicate the flavours you get from disposable vapes, the best way is to use nic salt e-liquids from manufacturers who create disposables with a refillable pod kit.
Elf Bar have created Elfliq nicotine salt e-liquids to match their loved flavours available in their disposable vapes. Created directly from Elf Bar, you're sure to get the same flavour you're looking for. In addition, Bar Juice 5000 e-liquids also closely match Elf Bar flavours.
Bottled Mary nic salt e-liquids perfectly match the same great flavours you'll find in Lost Mary, Bloody Mary or Found Mary disposable vapes. Available in an extensive collection in both 10mg and 20mg strengths, Bottled Mary e-liquids have a flavour for everybody.

If you've been vaping for some time, or just starting out, you may not completely understand e-liquids, the ingredients that make them, how to store them, or if they actually expire. If you've got concerns about your vape juice, then rest assured we cover everything you need to know within this guide.
With complete guidance on both e-liquids and disposable vapes, with practical tips to prolong the lifespan and flavour of your vape juice, this guide will offer insightful information to improve your vaping experience whilst potentially saving money in the long run.
Summary: E-liquid expiration dates are typically two years from manufacture. No evidence highlights any dangers of vaping expired e-liquid, although it may not taste as good if out of date. Signs of expiration include degraded taste, change in smell, a darker colour, and separation of ingredients. Extend vape juice lifespan by storing in a dark, cool place until using.
You may have already noticed expiry dates on e-liquid bottles or boxes, but what does this date actually mean? E-liquid manufacturers provide expiry dates or best before dates to highlight when their products are at their best. Although it is still plausible to vape expired e-liquids, we advise reading through this guide to gain a greater understanding of e-liquids and what happens when they surpass their expiration date.
Similar to e-liquid, disposable vapes may also provide expiry dates which will be visible on any outer packaging. The reason that manufacturers include this date is due to disposable devices containing e-liquid built in. To ensure that you get the best vaping experience from disposables, we advise vaping these within the date provided.
Although it may be fine to vape expired disposable vapes, we advise reading further through this guide to understand e-liquids and there ingredients. By having a greater understanding of vape juice in general, you will have greater understanding to make your own informed decisions when it comes to vaping expired e-liquids or disposable vapes.
As it stands, there are no set regulations with regard to expiration dates on e-liquids or disposable vaping products. With this in mind, manufacturers tend to provide these dates two years after the manufacturing date in general. By providing expiry dates, manufacturers aim to ensure that their products are consumed within a reasonable time frame and maintain their quality.
Like with many other expiration dates, the date on e-liquid is to be used as a general guide. If you have e-liquid that has reached the date of expiration, it does not immediately turn the juice bad or make it dangerous to vape.
Over time, e-liquid will begin to degrade. With most manufacturers providing an expiry date two years after manufacture, there's a long shelf life of e-liquids before it begins to degrade.
Although we don't advise vaping e-liquid past its expiry date, there is no current evidence that it is dangerous to do so, however the flavour and vapour production may be reduced, when compared to fresh e-liquids.
Much like e-liquids, disposable vapes may also provide expiry dates due to them containing vape juice already built into the device. For this reason, you may often find expiration dates on disposable vape packaging, similar to that on e-liquid bottles and boxes.
Because expiry dates are solely provided for the e-liquid contained within a disposable, the same guidance applies for expired disposable vapes as provided for e-liquids. As long as your disposable is in original air tight packaging, it should still be safe to vape, although like vape juice, you may notice the flavour is not as good, or it may not last as long overall.
As discussed, e-liquid has a rather long shelf life from the date of manufacture, however like other perishable items, they should be stored correctly to maintain or extend their lifespan. Below we highlight the main things to avoid when storing your e-liquid, with both short and long term storage guidance to make your vape juice last the test of time.
There are three main culprits which can speed up how quickly your e-liquid will degrade; heat, light and air. Extended heat exposure can break down the ingredients found within vape juice, causing them to degrade much quicker and expire your e-liquid quicker. For this reason, we advise storing any vape juice out of direct sunlight, in a cooler environment.
In addition to heat, both light and air can damage e-liquid due to oxidation. The most visible sign of this happening is if the change in colour, mostly a darker and browner colour overall. Although you will open your e-liquid container, we advise not keeping your bottle open longer than you need whilst once again ensuring that you store away from direct sunlight.
Although there is no current evidence which point to any negative health impacts from vaping out of date e-liquid, you may notice changes once it expires. For the most part, the taste may dissipate and become less flavourful than what you are used to, this is generally down to the ingredients within the vape juice breaking down over time.
In addition to possible change in smell and colour, the nicotine in expired e-liquid may also begin to break down, this would mean that you are not getting the same level of nicotine as originally manufactured. If you are worried about vaping expired vape juice, then there are no direct issues to be worried about, however to ensure you get the best vaping experience, vape e-liquids that are within the date displayed on the bottle or packaging.
You may be surprised to learn that the lifespan of e-liquid can vary depending on the ingredients. There are two main ingredients within vape juice, these are Propylene Glycol (PG) and Vegetable Glycerine (VG), which both have different properties within e-liquid. If you're not already sure about the differences, be sure to check out our VG vs PG in e-liquid guide.
Propylene glycol will naturally prevent degradation over time, which should provide a longer shelf life when compared to VG e-liquids. With this said, this will also come down to the correct storage of the e-liquid to ensure that it will last.
Unlike vegetable glycerine, VG does not have any natural prevention when it comes to degrading over time. With this said however, it does not mean that e-liquids containing a higher VG ratio will not last until the expiration date. Once again, if correct storage is carried out, you should have a much greater chance of making your VG e-liquid last the test of time.
When it comes to e-liquid that has already been opened, there is no definitive answer to how long it will last, apart from it degrading quicker than sealed vape juice. You may notice that e-liquid that has been opened will begin to turn darker much quicker due to air being within the bottle.
Nicotine liquid either most commonly uses a PG base to carry the nicotine, although in some cases this is also possible with VG too. Maintaining the same general properties as vape juice, liquid nicotine general will last as long as e-liquid. Considering that correct storage and handling has taken place, this should be around two years from the date of manufacturing.
There are a few causes that can turn your e-liquid into a browner or darker colour than to what you originally purchased. If you're concerned about the colour of your vape juice, this is generally just down to the e-liquid degrading or due to vaping with an older coil. Either way, we highlight below the possible reasons your e-liquid has changed colour, and how to prevent it from happening in the future.
For the most part, e-liquid will darken due to a chemical reaction called oxidation. This is a normal process which can be expected and is often seen with other liquids such as alcohol. When it comes to e-liquids, the colour may become darker if there is a greater nicotine strength within.
As discussed earlier, darkening can also occur when your e-liquid is exposed to light, heat and air. If you ensure that you store your vape juice correctly, the only real reason for the darkening of your e-liquid will be down to general oxidation, which is nothing to worry about.
When it comes to your e-liquid darkening whilst in your vape pod or tank, there can be a different reasoning. Alongside oxidation happening much quicker once your e-liquid is in a device, darker vape juice can also be due to an older coil.
Because e-liquids are created differently, they can contain different levels of artificial sweeteners and sugars. As you heat the coil to vapourise the e-liquid, these sweeteners or sugar will begin to caramelise and stick to the coil and cotton. After vaping on the same coil for some time, this will result in a dark and gunky coil that will begin to soak into the e-liquid making it darker overall.
By ensuring that you store your e-liquid correctly, whilst changing your coil regularly when it begins to burn you will prolong the lifespan of your vape juice both when in the bottle or inside your device. Please note that darkening of e-liquid will happen over a longer period time due to oxidation which is a normal process not to worry about.
If there comes a time when you want to dispose of any expired e-liquid, we strongly advise on recycling any bottles or containers to help minimise your impact on the environment. Most importantly you should not directly throw away e-liquid as it can pose a risk to the environment and wildlife.
E-liquid bottles should be recycled in your household waste, however be sure to clean out any remaining vape juice before recycling. If you have a considerable amount of e-liquid you wish to dispose of, we'd first advise checking with any friends or family who might vape and want it from you. If not, you can pour older unwanted e-liquid into an absorbent material, such as sawdust, wood chippings or cat litter. Once soaked, place this into your normal waste as unfortunately this part is non-recyclable.
When it comes to any expired disposable vapes you want to dispose of, we provide similar guidance as to older e-liquid, however the recycling of disposables differs significantly. Due to containing numerous components, disposable vapes can be difficult to recycle at home. If you are comfortable doing so, the best way to recycle is to separate the metal, plastic and cotton components to individually recycle each component separately at home.
If you are unsure on how to separate a disposable vape for recycling, or not comfortable doing so, we advise returning them to where you purchased them from for them to recycle under the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) directive. Here at Royal Flush Vape work alongside Green Wing Project to ensure that offer a simple and safe recycling point for used or unwanted disposable vapes, whilst adhering to WEEE regulations.
Although e-liquid generally has an expiry date two years after manufacture, your e-liquid may last much longer than this date. Signs of expired e-liquid include degraded taste, change in smell, a darker colour and separation of ingredients. If your vape juice seems fine, then you may be still okay vaping it.
Generally speaking, e-liquid that is within its expiration date should be safe to consume. E-liquid may become slightly darker over time with a slight yellow/orange colour, or in some cases a darker brown. Considering you are vaping e-liquid that is within date and does not appear a dark colour, it should be safe to vape.
Although e-liquid may become darker over time, if your vape juice begins to appear cloudy, milky or frothy then there is a much stronger possibility of it reaching a degrading point of no return and should be avoided.
The majority of e-liquids provide an expiration date which is either located on the bottle or outer packaging. The first indication that your vape juice has expired is once it has surpassed this date. However this does not generally mean that it has become bad. Check out for other signs such as a milky or frothy consistency that would highlight that your e-liquid has turned bad.
E-liquid manufacturers generally provide an expiry date for when their product is at its best. Although when reaching this date, it does not directly mean that the e-liquid has become bad and should be avoided. Always use your own judgement like with anything perishable.
Elf Bar are provided with a shelf life of up to two years from the date of manufacture. Considering that the battery has not died at this point, it may still be safe to vape, as long as it has been stored correctly within its sealed packaging.
Lost Mary disposable vapes provide a shelf life of up to two years from the date of manufacture. As long as the battery is not dead by this point, and has been stored correctly within its original sealed packaging, it may still be safe to vape.
Elf Bar disposable e-cigarettes offer a two year lifespan from the date of manufacture. As long as they are within their original packaging and unopened, they should last this time if not longer.
A disposable vape battery may not last the general two year expiration date from manufature. If the battery is working once expired, as long as the device was opened recently from its original packaging, it should still be safe to vape.
E-liquids provide a two year expiry date on average, from the date of manufature. However, this also depends on how the vape juice has been stored. Considering that the liquid has been stored correctly, out of direct sunlight in a cooler environment, e-liquid can last much longer than this two year expiration window.

Festival season is well underway once again. The perfect time to catch up with your favourite bands and artists, spending quality time with your friends, and making the most out of the amazing atmosphere. Whether you're a regular festival goer, or looking to attend your first festival, you may not be aware of vaping regulations in place, especially with many major UK festivals banning disposable vapes from 2023 and into 2024.
In this complete festival guide, we provide everything you'll need to know about vaping at music festivals and concerts, including up to date vaping policies at the most popular UK festivals, guidance on looking after your vape whilst camping, the best devices to take with you, alongside responsible eco-friendly vaping advice.
Summary: Vaping is permitted at the majority of outdoor music festivals in the UK, however there are now some restrictions on disposable vapes due to environmental impact of improper disposal. If you're travelling to a festival abroad, ensure you understand what devices or liquids you can travel with. Although vaping may be permitted at concerts, always check with festival or concert provider to ensure you understand any restrictions when it comes to vaping.
Vaping is generally permitted at music festivals and tend to follow the same guidelines as smoking. For this reason, it's advisable to avoid vaping in any indoor areas such as arena tents, stalls, or booths of any kind.
For the most part, major festivals allow you to take your own vape products with little restrictions, however recent changes have seen the introduction to disposable vape restrictions and bans from the likes of Glastonbury, Reading and Leeds festival. These restrictions take into account both disposable e-cigarettes and pre filled pods that cannot be re-filled.
You may have already read recent news on disposable vapes being banned or restricted from leading events such as Glastonbury, but you might not completely understand their reasoning.
Unfortunately, if you're not already aware, disposable vapes have become a growing concern due to improper disposable of the devices on an ever-growing scale. With an estimated 14 million single-use vapes being purchased each month in the UK, Material Focus highlight that over 50% of disposable e-cigarettes are thrown away each week, that could have been recycled.
Due to the number of attendees at some festivals reaching the hundreds of thousands, excessive amounts of electronic waste can cause detrimental effects on the environment, especially with some festivals open for close to a week. Later in this guide we highlight disposable vape alternatives which we strongly advise, not only to become more environmentally friendly, but to also save you money long term.
If you're attending a festival that permits disposable vapes, we would still advise on taking a pocket friendly vape that is refillable, not only to save you money, but to also minimise your environmental impact overall. If you're set on using disposable vapes, then we highlight below on how to best recycle them.
To safely recycle a disposable e-cigarette, you can separate the components into individual materials, where you can then recycle metal and plastic components, and either recycle batteries at home if your council offer, or place them in a battery recycling bin found in most supermarkets.
If you are unsure on how to separate a disposable vape for recycling, then the best option is to return them to where you purchased them from under the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment directive. Here at Royal Flush Vape we completely adhere to WEEE regulations whilst working alongside Green Wings Project to provide secure battery recycling points in all of our stores.
Each festival can differ significantly, with them all providing their own policies and guidance created. As a general rule of thumb, outdoor areas may permit smoking or vaping, although some venues may not, with others providing designated smoking areas which can also be used to vape in.
Below we highlight venues that have banned or restricted disposable vapes, with general guidance on general vaping regulations put in place at major music festivals throughout the UK.
With the rising environmental worry regarding disposable vapes, mostly due to their improper disposal, many local authorities are calling for them to be banned altogether by 2024. In a bid to minimise electronic waste left behind at festivals, many festivals throughout the UK have began to restrict and ban disposable electronic cigarettes altogether.
Below we highlight the current music festivals that have restricted or banned disposable vapes from their events. Although we work hard on keeping this information up to date, restricted and banned items at festivals are always subject to change, for this reason we would advise checking with festival providers direct to before attending.
This year, Festival Republic announced that both disposable e-cigarettes and disposable BBQs are banned from campsites and arenas in at both Reading and Leeds festival, in a bid to reduce their carbon footprint as an event.
Fun Fact: Dating back to 1961, Reading Festival is one of the oldest popular music festivals in the world
It's important to highlight that Festival Republic state "There will be no receipts issued for any confiscated/surrendered items and they will not be available to collect after the festival." For this reason, we'd advise looking at disposable vape alternatives below to ensure you avoid getting your vape confiscated and get the most out of your weekend.
There is no current guidance on any vape restrictions at Download Festival. Currently the only vape restriction follows the same as cigarettes with vaping banned in "enclosed public spaces or buildings including arena big tops".
Fun Fact: Download Festival has it's own mascot called the "Download Dog" which can be seen throughout the arena over the weekend and across marketing materials.
Although disposable vapes are not banned at Download Festival, we would still advise taking a refillable device to limit your carbon footprint. If you are going to take a disposable, please think about recycling once used.
Although a completely different festival on many aspects, Creamfields shares the same vape guidance as Download festival with vaping prohibited from enclosed public spaces and within buildings.
Fun Fact: Creamfields was one of the last festivals that Swedish House Mafia attended in 2012, the group announced their split soon after the event.
Once again, we would still advise taking refillable vape kits to Creamfields to not only save money throughout the weekend, but to also reduce your environmental impact that disposable vapes may have if incorrectly disposed.
In June 2023, Glastonbury festival added disposable vapes to their "what not to bring" list of items. They state that "they pollute the environment and can be hazardous at waste centers".
Fun Fact: Glastonbury Festival takes a break every five years, known as "fallow year" in order to allow the farmland to recover.
Although disposables do not appear on their "do not" bring list containing prohibited items, we would advise against taking disposable vapes to Glastonbury festival and instead look for refillable vape kits instead, by doing so you will both reduce the risk of your vape being rejected, but also be much more environmentally friendly overall.
Isle of Wight festival do not mention any vape related products on their "can't bring" list. For this reason you would be best treating Isle of Wight Festival in any way you normally would vaping or smoking, avoid in enclosed public spaces and look out for any designated smoking areas within.
Fun Fact: In 1970, the Isle of Wight Festival made history by attracting an astounding 600,000 attendees, making it one of the largest music gatherings of its time.
Please consider opting for a refillable vape kit as opposed to disposables. If you are going to take disposable vapes with you to Isle of Wight Festival, consider holding on to them to recycle when home and definitely avoid throwing away.
Much like other UK festivals, Boomtown Fair do not state any restrictions on disposable vapes, however do point out that e-cigarettes are treated the same as smoking throughout the fair. "You will be asked to finish your cigarette (including e-cigarettes) outside if caught smoking in a venue."
Fun Fact: Boomtown Fair is well known for its immersive storytelling, with each district having its own unique theme and narrative.
As with other festivals, if you are set on taking disposable vapes to Boomtown Fair, please recycle them and avoid discarded them in general waste or the floor. We do advise looking at our disposable vape alternatives below for a more eco-friendly choice.
Appearing on the banned list, Wireless Festival have banned disposable vapes from their festival this year and beyond. They state that "single-use disposable vapes as they may be confiscated on entry." For this reason we strongly advise taking any disposables to Wireless Festival.
Fun Fact: Rihanna headlined Wireless festival in 2012, as she sang her hit song “Umbrella,” rain began and soaked the crowd.
Apart from disposable vapes, Wireless Festival treat vaping like others, prohibiting the use of vaping or smoking in enclosed public spaces, or building including arena big tops.
Although we've aimed to cover the majority of larger music festivals throughout the UK, there are countless others around the country which would make it difficult to list them all. If you are unsure on any festival you wish to attend, the best advice is to visit the organisers website for general information with regards to vaping and if allowed to do so.
Festival policies reviewed and updated: January 2024
With music festivals beginning to restrict and ban disposable vapes throughout the UK, it's important to understand what vaping products you are allowed to use to avoid loosing your vape, whilst being much more eco-friendly.
For the most part, it appears evident that UK festivals are focused on restricting disposable and single use items in general, with Festival Republic banning both disposable BBQs and vapes together in one swoop, yet stating "refillable vapes are permitted".
Below we highlight the best disposable vape alternatives that follow festival guidelines by offering refillable pods, whilst being compact and lightweight to avoid weighing you down and to fit fine in a bum bag or shoulder bag.
In a rush to get before your festival? Don't worry, place your order before 4pm (Mon - Fri) and select guaranteed next working day delivery via DPD to ensure you're covered for your event ahead.
Although music concerts share many similarities with festivals, there are key differences, mostly with concert arenas being within a building structure. There may be concerts held at outdoor arenas, however for the most part, larger locations within the UK are indoor venues.
Unfortunately a large majority of venues follow the 2007 ban on indoor smoking for vaping too, regardless if outdoors or not. Below we highlight some of the most popular arenas within the UK with their current regulations on vaping within.
Manchester Arena: A no smoking and vaping venue. Unfortunately if you leave the venue to vape or smoke, you will not be able to re-gain entry.
The O2 Arena, London: Smoking is prohibited in any part of the O2 Arena in London. Electronic-cigarettes are allowed, but must only be used in communal areas and are prohibited from being used within the Arena.
Wembley Stadium: Smoking and electronic-cigarettes are completely prohibited anywhere within Wembley Stadium.
The Royal Albert Hall: Both smoking and e-cigarettes are prohibited in all areas of the hall.
The O2 Academy Birmingham: Similar to the London arena, smoking and vaping is prohibited within the main venue, however there is a dedicated smoking area that is open at varying times.
Other concert arenas: Although we've highlighted major arenas across the country, there are significant other locations throughout the UK and abroad. As general guidance, if you are unsure you should believe that any indoor arena has restrictions on vaping similar to smoking, however we always advise checking directly with the venue to get the most up to date and accurate information.
Concert arena policies reviewed and updated: January 2024
If you're looking at traveling abroad for a festival, there's extra things to take into account, especially depending on how you travel. We would advise taking a minute to read through our Travelling With E-Cigarettes guide. Providing in-depth information on how to travel with vaping products, countries that have banned vapes, and up to date airline policies on flying with a vape.
For the most part, considering that the country hosting the festival has the same laws regarding vaping, similar guidance to UK festivals may apply. As always though, we would advise checking directly with festival providers to ensure you have the most accurate information available.
Although many festivals now offer charging points, or battery packs that can be rented to charge your vape, the ques for these can often be long if you don't get to them early morning. On top of this, the expenses can add up making your weekend cost more than it needs to.
If you enjoy a more powerful device, especially sub-ohm vape kits, then the best advice would be to pick up a kit that can be used with external batteries, this way you can take some spare batteries with you (charged first of course) to swap out when your device runs out of charge.
If you're vaping a device that provides an internal battery, the best action would be to pick up a portable battery charger. We would advise spending a little more if you can to get one that offers re-charging, as opposed to a single use one, both for longevity and to reduce your impact on the environment.
Portable batteries are great, especially if camping at a festival for the weekend. In the tech world we live in, they will come in handy for other gadgets, such as your phone, camera or speaker, alongside charging your vape.
Festivals are far from the general day to day life. Either bogged down in sinking mud, or as dry as the desert with dust flying everywhere; it's hard to keep a vape kit clean during a festival, or anything for that matter. However, with vaping being a consumable product, its important more than ever to keep your vape clean at a festival.
Wiping down your e-cigarette frequently will ensure that you remove any excess dust or dirt. More importantly, check the connection between your battery and pod/tank if separate, alongside any airflow holes and mouthpiece regularly to reduce the risk of inhaling dirt or dust, whilst also preventing your vape kit to stop working.
If you're camping the weekend, the best time to completely clean your kit would be when back at camp in the safety and cleanliness of your own tent, although if your device does get dirty then cleaning before vaping wherever would be more ideal.
Although there is a growing list of vendors available at larger scale music festivals, these are always subject to change with little information available on websites provided by festival organisers. Creamfields, Leeds, Reading and Download Festival have partnered up with Co-Op supermarket to provide the core essentials required throughout the weekend, although it doesn't appear that they will be stocking e-liquids or vapes this year, especially with them now banning disposable vapes.
If you're taking a refillable pod kit with you to any festival, the best advice is to take extra e-liquid with you, pack them in different places in case anything is lost, and be sure to carry extra with you when going into the arenas so you don't have to trek back to camp if you run out.
There are many things to take into account when vaping at any festival or concert to get the best vaping experience whilst saving. You may already be aware of the possibilities of drink spiking, although may not have heard that this spiking is also possible through other substances, including food, cigarettes and vape products.
According to Dawn Dines, founder and CEO of Stamp Out Spiking, it's important "to warn people that spiking can happen through vapes, through drinks, through sharing cigarettes".
"Although drink spiking remains the number one reported cause of spiking incidents in the UK, in the last 12 months we have seen an increasing trend in incidents related to vape spiking. In a recent poll we conducted, 3% of respondents who said that they had been spiked, or knew someone that had been spiked, involved a vape. Sharing vapes is pretty common nowadays, you see a lot of people outside bars, clubs and restaurants passing them around, but the consequences of using a spike vape can be horrific"
If you're attending a festival, it's important to know how to prevent spiking, whether in your drink, cigarette, food or vape. There are a number of ways to protect yourself from being spiked, including not sharing or accepting vapes, food or drinks from strangers. If you're on a night out always make sure you stay close with people you know, don't leave your drink or possessions unattended, and always make sure you know how you're getting home.
Spiking is a hugely under-reported crime in the UK. Last year there were 5,000 reported incidents of spiking, but as spiking is not recognised as a separate criminal offence it is difficult to collect accurate crime statistics from the Government and UK Police Forces - that's why Stamp Out Spiking is dedicated to changing the current UK law to get spiking made a separate criminal offence, and to make it a licensing requirement for all venues to have adequately trained staff who can recognise a spiking incident and know how to act accordingly to ensure victims are treated with the care and respect that they deserve"
Are you planning to attend a music festival or concert in 2024, or planning one for next year? Either way we'd love to hear about it, and your vaping experiences at any previous festivals you may have attended. Leave us a comment below on your favourite music festival or best band or artist you've seen live, and find others who share your passion!
Although there are no particular festivals that have entirely banned vaping, Reading, Leeds and Wireless festival have banned disposable vapes, with Glastonbury Festival adding them to their "what not to bring" list.
Although you may be allowed to take your vape to concerts, it's advised against vaping at any indoor events. Always check with venue providers to ensure you are up to date on their policies.
A large majority of venues follow the 2007 ban on indoor smoking for vaping too, regardless if outdoors or not. We advise checking direct with the venue for accurate information.
You should not put disposable or rechargeable vape devices in general waste, or in a recycle bin as a complete unit. Either separate components and recycle accordingly, or return to the store purchased from.
Although Glastonbury Festival have placed disposable vapes on their "what not to bring list", vaping is still permitted within the festival and follows the same guidance as smoking.
Creamfields has no current vaping restrictions. You can take your vaping products with you and vape them in outdoor areas.
Reading Festival have banned disposable vapes both in the arena and camp sites. If you are caught with a disposable you may have it confiscated or asked to leave the site.
Leeds Festival have banned disposable vapes both in the arena and camp sites. If you are caught with a disposable you may have it confiscated or asked to leave the site.

When it comes to vaping, there is growing concern on the possible environmental impact created, especially with regard to disposable vapes. Here at Royal Flush Vape, sustainability is at the forefront of our priorities, both as a company and a team, we are working hard to reduce our carbon footprint wherever possible.
As we continue to take leaps forward in reducing our environmental impact, we want to share our vision with you and help you vape greener, which in many areas could also improve your vaping experience, whilst making your vaping products last longer.
Our ultimate guide to greener vaping offers complete guidance on the impact vape related products may have on the environment, with actionable steps to reduce your own carbon footprint, whilst ensuring you get the most out of your vaping purchases, which will save you money in the long run.
Summary: To reduce your impact on the environment with eco-friendly vaping, switch to more sustainable devices if not already, and increase their lifespan with regular cleaning and correct use. Always recycle what you can and bulk up on orders from stores working to reduce their carbon emissions.
Although there is a growing trend in negative press related to vaping, in particular disposable vapes and the environment, you may not completely understand the carbon footprint that smoking cigarettes creates.
According to National Geographic, around 4.5 trillion cigarettes are discarded each year worldwide, making them one of the most littered items on earth. Unfortunately, cigarette butts aren't usually recycled due to "98% of cigarette filters [being] made of plastic fibers". Tom Novotny, an epidemiologist at San Diego State University highlights that:
"there's still widespread misunderstanding about what [filters] are made of - A lot of smokers think it's biodegradable already"
In addition to carbon dioxide emissions, Cancer Research highlight that cigarettes release over 5,000 different chemicals when burnt, in addition discarded cigarette butts can leach these chemicals into water if contacted where they can remain for up to 10 years. Novotny states from his findings that "one cigarette butt in a litre [of water] kills half the fish".
Although cigarettes do not contain electronic components, especially lithium-ion batteries, it's clear that the act of smoking, alongside discarding cigarette butts has been a growing problem that greatly impacts the environment negatively, with the option of recycling limited.
Vaping materials are made up of many components including batteries, metal, rubber seals, and glass. Although there are significantly more components to electronic cigarettes, they fall under the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) which means that they should be recycled either through household recycling, or at the shop the product was purchased.
Unfortunately, when it comes to disposable vapes, there is growing concern. Research carried out by Material Focus identified that 1.3 million single use vapes are thrown away each week. The research further highlighted that 50% of single use vapes are thrown away which we strongly believe needs to change. Especially when these components could be recycled to avoid ending up the environment.
Here at Royal Flush Vape we are committed to minimising both our carbon footprint, and our customers. For this reason, we completely adhere to the WEEE regulations to reduce our environmental impact within the vaping industry and beyond. If you purchase any electronic product from us, we will safely dispose of your product for you to minimise environmental impact.
To help you limit your own environmental impact of vaping, we highlight below in-depth on ways to minimise your carbon footprint, whilst maximizing your vaping experience.
From switching to more sustainable vape kits, increasing lifespan of your products, or recycling your older devices, there are many ways in which you can minimise your carbon footprint when it comes to vaping. In this section we go into detail on ways to vape greener, whilst possibly improving your vaping experience and saving money at the same time.
Although disposable vapes and pod kits that use pre-filled pods are perfect for on the go vaping, whilst being great for beginner vaping, it's no surprise that these products can increase the amount of waste when compared to other alternatives available.
If you've managed to quit smoking with disposable devices, or they simply keep you away from cigarettes, we're not here to judge you, if anything we're glad to hear that they've helped you find a safer alternative to smoking cigarettes.
"the current best estimate is that e-cigarettes are around 95% less harmful than smoking" - Public Health England (PHE)
If you're considering the environmental impact of disposable devices, then we're here to help you reduce your carbon footprint. Below we outline popular disposable devices and products that you may already be using, with guidance on how to move to a greener alternative and reduce the amount of waste.
If you're currently vaping disposable devices, we would advise you to consider making the switch to a greener alternative, such as vape kits that offer pre-filled pods. Devices that use pre-filled pods means that you will only be replacing the pod each time, instead of disposing of the battery and other components too.
Much like disposable vapes, pre-filled pod kits provide convenience and simplicity, whilst offering the same great flavours that you'll be used to thanks to the manufacturers behind disposables expanding their collection into pre-filled pods.
The next step away from pre-filled pods is a device that offers a fixed coil pod. These pods provide the ability to re-fill your pod with e-liquid until you get the most out of the fixed coil included.
Fixed coil pod devices offer a greener alternative to disposables and pre-filled pods due to lasting much longer than a single use. If you vape regularly, your environmental impact will be reduced significantly thanks to re-using pods with built in coils in the long run.
If you're looking to reduce your impact on the environment, save money, or wanting to completely customise your vaping experience, a vape kit that provides replaceable coils and pods, whilst offering recharging and refilling capabilities is the way to go.
Refillable vape kits that offer individual coils are the most environmentally friendly vape kits that you can currently get. Providing the most cost effective vaping device, whilst reducing the amount of waste created, these device are definitely the way to go.
The only waste on one of these devices is the coil and e-liquid bottles, which can often be recycled. By re-using the pod and device, these refillable devices offer both re-filling and re-charging functions. Considering you prolong the life of your vape (see more below), you should greatly reduce your carbon footprint, especially if moving from disposable vapes.
Whichever vape you decide to use on your smoke-free journey, Royal Flush Vape are here to support you and help you make the right decisions when it comes to remaining smoke-free, with a "much healthier alternative to smoking" - Public Health England (PHE).
We do advise that you think about your carbon footprint, however only you will know yourself what vaping device and e-liquid works best for you. If you are still looking for ways to limit your environmental impact and not sure what device would be best for you, please be sure to reach out us where a member of our team will be happy to help you.
If you're already using a more sustainable device such as refillable pod kit or sub ohm vape kit, there are simple steps that you can take to extend the life of your products. By prolonging the lifespan of your vaping products, you will not only save money, but also lessen your impact on the environment.
If your vape kit uses refillable pods or a tank, it's important to ensure that you clean them regularly to remove any debris or e-liquid that may have leaked. By simply wiping any excess e-liquid that has leaked into the device from the pod or tank, you will reduce the potential of liquid getting into the battery and causing damage.
When it comes to tanks and coils, if you've been vaping older e-liquid that has created a burnt out coil, or you are changing to a completely different flavour, we advise removing the tank from the battery, and coil from the tank before giving it a rinse out with water and letting it dry. By cleaning your tank, you may increase lifespan of a new coil, whilst also reducing any damage to o-rings or seals on the tank.
We strongly advise against using any cleaning products that contain chemicals as this could potentially cause harm if vaped or swallowed. Simple paper towels work great to remove e-liquid from a device, or regular tap water to swill out a tank or pod.
There are many ways in which your choice of e-liquid can impact the lifespan of your coils or pod. E-liquids that contain higher amounts of sweetener can possibly reduce the lifespan of your coils by causing them to burn out quicker.
By selecting a flavour with less sweetener, you will save money whilst also being more environmentally friendly. If you are unsure on what e-liquids to select, please be sure to reach out to us, we'd be more than happy to help you make a more sustainable choice.
When it comes to changing your coil or pod, it's important to ensure that you prepare them correctly to increase their lifespan whilst improving your vaping experience. Always allow a few minutes after filling with e-liquid for your coil to soak up e-liquid, as vaping on a dry coil will cause it burn out prematurely.
If you are using a device that uses replaceable coils you can always drip e-liquid on the outer exposed cotton of a new coil before inserting to ensure that you completely soak your coil before vaping, although still ensure to wait a few minutes after filling the pod before vaping.
Whether your vape device has a built-in battery, or uses external batteries, there are many ways in which you can increase their lifespan to avoid disposing of batteries early.
Devices that use a built-in battery provide simplicity, without the need of charging batteries externally. To ensure that you get the most out of your internal batteries, there are a few areas in which you extend their lifespan.
Always make sure to use a high quality charging cable that is capable of charging your device safely, if you're unsure, simply use the one that comes with your vape kit if provided. Although it can be tempting to take your device off charge early, if you frequently put your device on and off charge, you can cause early battery degradation which will reduce the lifespan of your device.
Although the majority of vape kits that cater for external battery use provide built-in USB charging, there are a few ways in which you can extend the lifespan of your batteries.
In addition to following everything highlighted above for built-in batteries, the use of an optimised battery charger can help lengthen the lifespan of your external batteries. By using an external battery charger, your batteries will receive a more optimal charge, whilst removing added wear and tear on your device itself.
Although we've highlighted vape kits that offer reusable components, there may come a time when you look to replace your device with an upgrade, or because of general wear and tear.
When it comes to replacing your vape kit, rather than throwing away or recycling, you could reduce your impact on the environment further by passing it on to a friend who also vapes, or is looking to quit smoking. We only advise this if the device is still in working order and has been thoroughly cleaned beforehand. If your'e unsure, you could offer a cleaned device to somebody so they would only have to purchase a pod or tank.
Regardless of what vape device you are using, there will come a point where you will decide to replace your current setup, either if you've had it for years and it has degraded with wear and tear, or you just simply want to upgrade to a newer device.
When it does come to this time, it's important to recycle what you can to minimise negative environmental impact. In this section we highlight different components of electronic-cigarettes and how you can recycle them. Remember that vaping electronics are covered by the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE). If you're unsure about any of the following, then please be sure to contact the store you purchased your deivce(s) from to enquire how you can recycle with them.
Before recycling anything vape related, it's important to ensure that you clean them to remove any nicotine or e-liquid, by doing so you will remove any chemicals that could be harmful to the environment.
Disposable vapes are one of the most compact vaping products available with many components which can make them difficult to recycle at home, especially with them created as a sealed unit. If possible, you can separate the metal, plastic and cotton components to individually recycle each component separately.
If you are unsure on how to separate a disposable vape for recycling, then the best option is to return them to where you purchased them from for them to recycle under the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment directive. Here at Royal Flush Vape we completely adhere to WEEE regulations whilst working alongside Green Wings Project to provide secure battery recycling points in all of our stores.
E-liquid bottles are one of the easiest vape related products to recycle, and can be done so through household recycling. It's important not to throw e-liquid bottles in general waste and to recycle them through your plastic recycling bin. Please be sure to rinse out bottles before recycling as some liquids may cause harm to the environment if exposed to it.
Batteries that can be removed may be recycled at home, only if your local authority accepts batteries as part of their home recycling scheme. If you want to find out if this is possible in your area, then please check out Recycle Now here.
If you cannot recycle batteries at home, or your device does not have batteries that can be removed separately, then we would advise the same as recycling disposable vapes above. Simply return your used batteries or device to where you purchased them from. If you are recycling batteries separately, recycle battery bins are also available in supermarkets throughout the UK.
Similar to e-liquid bottles, before you recycle coils or pods, it's important to ensure that they are cleaned to remove any e-liquid from them to protect the environment.
Unfortunately, similar to disposable vapes, pre-filled pods are created as a sealed unit making it difficult to separate components to recycle. If you can remove the coil, you can then recycle the plastic pods and separate the cotton from the coil to recycle the metal separately.
For vape tanks and pods that offer replaceable coils, the same applies. Separate all components such as the plastic and metal to recycle in corresponding bins. Parts such as cotton, rubber seals and silicone are unfortunately non-recyclable and therefore would need to go into general waste.
Thanks to the convenience of online shopping, it's now easier than ever to order your vaping products and e-liquids online. When it comes to ordering online, there are many things to take into consideration when looking to minimise your carbon footprint.
If you're purchasing products online that you know you may purchase again soon, you can reduce your impact on the environment by bulking up your order if can afford to. You could also place an order with a friend or family member to limit to one shipment and packaging. By placing a bulk order, you may also save money with options such as multi buy savings.
One of the most important ways to shop environmentally is to ensure that you purchase from eco-friendly retailers, and those working hard to reduce their carbon footprint wherever possible. From sustainable packaging and shipping processes, to the delivery providers they use, there are many ways to check how a retailer is making an impact.
Here at Royal Flush Vape, we are truly commited to reducing the impact of our products and services. Working alongside couriers also committed to reducing their environmental impact, we also plant trees to offset the impact of our packaging and printed marketing material, whilst using a 100% paperless picking process and digital receipts to our retail customers to name just a few ways we are working hard on minimising our impact.
There may be times where you have no other option than to return your order, or parts of it. However to be as eco-friendly as possible, we advise to read up on anything new you want to purchase to ensure that you are certain that you are set on that particular model or flavour, by doing so you will minise the chances of you returning or replacing anything, which will of course result in less shipping and packaging.
By following our greener vaping guide, you should now have a much greater understanding on the potential impact that vaping may have on the environment, and most importantly how to minimise your impact to reduce your own carbon footprint. In a world surrounded by consumable products and digital accessories, it's often hard to know what's best to remain eco-friendly. However we hope that the information provided in this article has provided thought to be more eco-friendly on your vaping journey.
Here at Royal Flush Vape we are committed to reducing the impact of our products and services, whether online or in store, we're working hard to lesson our carbon footprint and work closer towards a carbon neutrality. As we continue to improve our services and reduce waste, we are on course to our carbon neutral targets.
By reading our ultimate guide to greener vaping, you should now have a much greater understanding of the impact vaping may have on the environment if correct recycling of waste is not followed. Although we can only advise on the best recycling practices when it comes to vaping, we hope that you join us on a much more eco-friendly journey, so together we can reduce our carbon footprint.
Here at Royal Flush Vape, we are dedicated as a team to do everything in our power to protect the environment. We understand the importance that vaping has for those looking to quit smoking, however also acknowledge the possible environmental negatives related to disposable products. We hope that this guide helps you make a greener choice, and move away from disposable vapes. However, if you have any further queries regarding your carbon footprint through vaping, then please be sure to reach out.

]]>You may already be aware of the negatives that smoking cigarettes has when it comes to dental health, but you may have questions when it comes to vaping and oral hygiene. Although vaping has been around for many years, there's still many areas of impact that vaping may have on your teeth and gums.
In this article we look at the most common questions you may have when it comes to vaping and your dental health. With insight from leading dentists and health care professionals, this article will provide you with non-biased facts so you can make your own informed decision when it comes to your oral health and vaping.
Summary: Although not a leading cause of tooth damage, vaping should be paired alongside good oral hygiene and routine dental visits to avoid any teeth staining, enamel damage or tooth loss. After a tooth extraction, avoid vaping for at least 72 hours, but always take guidance given by dental professionals. Dentists may suspect that you vape, and it's advisable to be open and honest with them to ensure you receive the best care possible.
Like cigarettes, vape products can contain nicotine which has been linked to the staining of teeth. Although there is evidence that vaping e-liquid containing nicotine can discolour teeth in a similar way to cigarettes, research carried out by the British American Tobacco (BAT), highlighted that electronic cigarettes cause significantly less staining to teeth than conventional cigarettes.
Bupa also highlight that the impact of smoking cigarettes is well understood, with the ingredients such as tar, alongside nicotine resulting in teeth staining. When it comes to vaping, they state that "vaping removes the presence of tar from the equation", however artificial flavourings in e-liquid can trap stains in the tooth enamel.
Although the risk of staining teeth with vaping could be seen as lower than smoking cigarettes, it's still important to maintain good oral hygiene, such as brushing your teeth regularly and limiting food and drink known to cause teeth staining, such as sugary drinks, tea or coffee and berries.
Although not directly related, one of the most common oral side effects to vaping is a dry mouth. One of leading causes of this is due to the ingredient propylene glycol, often shortened to PG. This ingredient is a colourless liquid that provides a subtly sweet taste and acts as a major ingredient within e-liquids.
Used in many consumable items, including the production of food, and a carrier for pharmaceutical products, PG is also a key ingredient within e-liquids and liquid nicotine. If you're vaping frequently, especially with an e-liquid containing a higher PG ratio, we advise staying hydrated, alongside good oral hygiene to protect your teeth and to avoid bad breath.
According to the National Health Service (NHS), the leading causes of tooth decay are consumption of sugary food and drink, and not cleaning your teeth and gums. The core reasoning behind tooth decay is due to bacteria that sticks to your teeth, which then creates a layer plaque. Over time, this plaque damages the enamel of your teeth over time which can then lead to tooth decay.
When vaping electronic cigarettes, your teeth and gums are the first thing to come into contact with the vapour from e-liquid. According to David Frank, DMD, owner and founder of Walden Dental;
"Vaping can cause your mouth and gums to dry out, resulting in dry mouth, when your mouth is dry, you are at a high risk for tooth decay and gum disease"
If you do vape regularly, it's even more important to stay hydrated to mimise the risk of tooth decay. By staying hydrated, not only will you will reduce the chances tooth decay, you will also lower the risk of gum disease. In addition, Healthline highlight the importance and benefits of drinking enough water:
"Staying hydrated is one of the best things you can do for your overall health. Staying hydrated can help support physical performance, prevent headaches and constipation, and more."
If you are worried about any impact on your teeth or gums, or feel that you are not hydrating enough, we always advise speaking to healthcare professionals to ensure you gain the best health advice.
Hydration plays a vital role in protecting your teeth and gums, alongside your overall health. Ensuring that you dink enough water throughout the day to stay hydrated is important for your body to carry out the basic needs, alongside protecting your teeth and gums.
As previously highlighted, vaping can increase the chances of dehydration which makes it even more important to maintain fluid intake. Bupa highlight "as a basic guide, most adults need about 1.5 to 2 litres of fluid a day. Children need less and pregnant women need a little more."
The quickest way to test how well hydrated you are is by checking your urine. A lighter yellow and more transparent urine means you are better hydrated, whereas the darker and more orange it is, the higher levels of dehydration you may have. Bupa address that it's important to keep check of your urine colour throughout the day, they highlight:
"If you’re drinking enough, your pee should be pale yellow. If you don’t need to go as often as usual, you only pass a small amount each time and it's dark in colour, it’s likely that you’re dehydrated."
If you are still unsure, the urine colour chart below is a great indication to match and compare to ensure you are hydrated enough. Remember that not only is hydration great for your teeth and gums, it also plays a vital role in your overall health.
There are many ways highlighted by healthcare professionals to mimise the risk of tooth decay. It's strongly advised to work alongside your dentist, hygienist or orthodontist to ensure you are doing everything possible to maintain good oral care and limit the chance of tooth decay. As a reference, the NHS highlight the following best practices for preventing tooth decay:
According to the American Heart Association, nicotine in general, regardless if vaped or smoked can restrict blood flow to the gums, which in turn can increase the risk of gum disease. In addition, the impact of vaping can create a dry mouth as previously discussed which can also lead to gum disease if not addressed.
Although not a leading causes of gum disease, vaping has the potential to create issues with your gums if oral hygiene is not maintained, or you find yourself dehydrated often. Its always advisable to maintain contact with a dentist with routine dental appointments to prevent complications with your teeth and gums, and always stay as hydrated as possible.
Simular to tooth decay, gum disease is caused by plaque build up on your teeth. The National Health Service (NHS) and the American Dental Association (ADA) highlight that if you do not remove plaque from your teeth through brushing and cleaning regularly, it will build up and begin irritating your gums.
According to NHS and ADA, they highlight the same actions to prevent gum disease as you would do with preventing tooth decay. Always ensure to maintain good oral hygiene, such as regular teeth brushing, avoiding sugary food and drink and maintaining hydration.
Tooth extractions can be a painful process, which means its important to make the healing process as comfortable and prompt as possible. Although you may already be aware that smoking can cause issues with the healing process after a tooth extraction, you may be surprised to know that vaping can too.
Even though vaping is considered to be less harmful than smoking cigarettes, when it comes to tooth extraction aftercare, the same goes with vaping, especially if you vape nicotine as this reduces the amount of oxygen in your bloodstream and can cause inflammation.
According to Dentaly, when you smoke cigarettes, or e-liquid containing nicotine, your blood vessels will constrict, this will restrict the blood available for the healing process after your tooth is pulled. If your healing is delayed after a tooth extraction, you are at greater risk of a dry socket.
One of the most common complications of tooth removal is a dry socket. This is where a blood clot fails to develop inside the tooth socket after extraction. A dry socket can also occur when the blood clot becomes dislodged or disappears.
A dry socket can cause anything from an aching pain, to an intense throbbing pain, or a severe toothache in many cases. The NHS highlight that It's important to do everything you can to avoid a dry socket and maintain a prompt healing process for faster recover.
One of the leading causes to a a dry socket is linked to the use of cigarettes, however this is also relevant with the use of electronic cigarettes. Vaping closely mimics the act of smoking cigarettes which makes the chances of a dry socket very similar.
When you draw on a vape or a cigarette, you create a negative pressure in your mouth which can create a suction that could pull the forming clot from the socket, resulting in a dry socket.
Most dentists will advise to wait for at least 72 hours after a tooth extraction before smoking or vaping, that works out to three complete days. Although advisable to wait 72 hours, this is only the minimal time needed for a blood clot to form in the empty socket. Although after this time it becomes more difficult for the suctioning action of vaping to dislodge blood clots, according to Dentaly, it's always possible.
When it comes to getting teeth extracted, the healing process and procedure will differ. If you are unsure or worried about vaping after a tooth extraction, it's advised to speak to your dentist to confirm you're okay to proceed. Even if a dental checkup is required, it's always best to check to avoid any further damage.
Unfortunately, there is no sure answer on preventing a dry socket if you want to continue vaping after a tooth extraction. The best advice we can provide matches that of dental experts who advice to wait 72 hours before you begin vaping again. Even though waiting for this time can limit the chance of creating a dry socket, it does not completely remove the likelihood of it happening.
If you want to vape after a tooth extraction, you should take advice directly from your dentist to ensure you receive the best guidance possible to limit any adverse side effects which could damage your oral health.
You may be surprised to learn that dentists, hygienists and orthodontists are able to suspect that you've been vaping electronic cigarettes, especially if you vape anything containing nicotine. Although they may only be able to suspect the fact, the most obvious signs that can appear during a check up at your dentist are nicotine stains on your teeth, plaque build-up, swollen gums, or gum recession.
Much like a doctor or other healthcare professional, a dentist, hygienist or orthodontist is there to provide the best care possible for your teeth and gums. For this reason, we strongly advise not trying to hide the fact that you vape from your dentist or oral care specialist, by doing so you may not receive the best care possible when it comes to looking after your teeth.
Although vaping may not be classed as a leading cause of tooth decay or gum disease, we strongly advised to maintain good oral hygiene, regardless if you vape or not. It's important to keep routine dental visits, combined with hygiene appointments to prevent any future issues with your teeth, whilst ensuring you minimise the risk of tooth staining, enamel damage or tooth loss.
When it comes to tooth extractions, vaping should be avoided for at least the first 72 hours after the procedure to minimise the risk of a painful dry socket forming. Although this may reduce the risk of a dry socket, it may still be possible. For this reason, always take guidance directly from your dentist for the best aftercare possible.
Although a dentist, hygienist or orthodontist may be able to suspect that you vape, they may not always be able to tell for sure. It's important to be open and honest with your dental professional to ensure that your receive the best possible care available, this will limit the chances of damaging your teeth and gums.
Nicotine in vape products can discolour teeth similar to how cigarettes do so, however British American Tobacco (BAT) state that vaping creates less staining to teeth than cigarettes.
Dentists may not be able to know for certain if you vape, however they can suspect that you do by checking signs such as, nicotine stains, swollen gums or plaque build up.
Vaping increases the chance of a dry socket, especially if done so within the first 72 hours after tooth extraction, as this is the length of time for the blood clot to initially settle. It's strongly advised to avoid vaping in the first 72 hours after extraction.
Although both vaping and smoking can cause teeth staining, vaping has been highlighted by British American Tobacco to have a lesser impact than smoking. With electronic cigarettes providing nicotine without harmful chemicals such as tar and carbon monoxide, vaping could be argued to be better for your teeth than smoking.
The American Heart Association state that vaping nicotine products can increase the risk of gum disease. NHS and ADA highlights that by maintaining good oral hygiene, avoiding sugary food and drink, whilst maintaining hydration, will minimise the risk of gum disease.
According to webmd, a dry socket can create bad breath and an unpleasant smell or taste in your mouth. If you experience this after a tooth extraction, we advise contacting your dentist for further guidance.
Although vaping can cause minimal staining to teeth, it is less likely to directly stain metal braces that are created from stainless steel. If wearing clear braces, there is a greater chance of discolouring clear braces. By ensuring you clean your teeth frequently, including between braces, you will reduce the risk of stained lines on your teeth when removing braces.
It is recommended to avoid vaping when wearing teeth aligners. Because aligners such as Invisalign closely mould your teeth, vapour from vaping could coat the teeth if it gets under the aligner and cause issues. In addition, vapour created by e-liquid can discolour clear aligners and make them less transparent over time. Although it could be tempting to remove aligners to vape, if you do so you could interfere with the treatment process.

]]>Disposable vapes have been around for some time now, although the popularity of them continues to grow at a steady rate. Unfortunately, this rise in popularity has also seen an increase of negative reports in the media which can often create confusing information for those looking to answer the question, are disposable vapes safe?
According to an expert independent evidence review by Public Health England (PHE), nearly half the population (44.8%) didn't realise e-cigarettes are much less harmful than smoking.
This article looks deeper into the questions related to the safety of disposable vapes and provides answers to the worries you may have. If you're an experienced vaper looking for a different vaping style, or a beginner looking at making the switch from smoking, we address the popularity, news articles, safety concerns and benefits of disposable vapes so you can make your own informed decisions.
TL;DR: Disposable vapes, alongside other e-cigarettes are around 95% less harmful than smoking according to Public Health England (PHE). To ensure safe disposables, always purchase from reputable vape suppliers and ensure that they follow all regulations set by government bodies. Once you finish a disposable vape, recycle them accordingly to limit impact on the environment.
Disposable vapes are affordable, pre-filled, single-use devices that aim to closely mimic the process of smoking a cigarette, without the harmful contents such as tar and carbon monoxide.
Most often, disposable vapes differ from other vape kits due to having no buttons, settings or adjustments which can't be re-filled or charged. By having this design, they are perfect for those not familiar with more advanced electronic cigarettes, or those looking to quit smoking.
Once the battery and/or e-liquid has drained from a disposable, it is then depleted and can be disposed of. We would strongly advise that you recycle any disposable vape product to minimise your impact on the environment, we discuss this further later on.
Generally available in nicotine strengths of 10mg or 20mg nicotine salts, disposable devices provide a stronger hit than what's generally used with sub-ohm vape kits or more powerful pod kits, for this reason they are great for on the go use when you need that nicotine hit throughout the day.
Disposable vapes have continued to grow in popularity since they first began to appear, mostly due to being simple and easy to use, whilst removing the need to change coils, pods and batteries or re-fill with e-liquid.
The increase in popularity of disposable vapes and electronic cigarettes in general can possibly be linked to the aid in helping smokers quit through vaping.
Although electronic cigarettes are highlighted to be much safer than smoking, this is only the case when legal and complaint products are being used. It's important to understand what illegal and non-compliant vaping products are, and why they can cause potential issues to your health or cause other risk factors due to harmful chemicals or design.
Unfortunately, with the growing popularity and demand of disposables, the rise of low quality, fake and non-compliant devices has also increased by those looking to illegally make money on unsafe disposable vapes.
Like with anything vape related, it's important to ensure that you purchase disposable vape products from reputable sources whilst looking out for warning signs that a disposable may be illegal in the UK.
The UK vaping industry is strictly regulated by Tobacco and Related Products Regulations (TRPR). These regulations are set in place to ensure a minimum standard for the safety and quality of all e-cigarettes and e-liquids are met. They also ensure that information on related products is provided to customers to make informed choices. Vape related products must also be within an environment that protects children from starting the use of these products.
The simplest way to understand if your disposable vape, or any vaping related product is safe is by ensuring that it follows the regulations set out by TRPR. Those who disregard any TRPR regulations are more likely to overlook other safety features and checks which could affect your health or cause other risk.
As discussed, all vaping products must follow TRPR regulations which set strict requirements for all vape kits, e-liquids and accessories. To ensure that your vape is safe, please see below a list of TRPR requirements:
By ensuring that any vaping product you purchase follows these guidelines highlighted above, you should have a much greater protection of the products being genuine. We also strongly advise that you also purchase from reputable suppliers who have a track record of regulation compliance with everything required in place.
As long as you ensure that you purchase your disposable vape or mod from a reputable vape shop, and ensure that everything is compliant with TRPR as previously highlighted, there would be no reason to highlight a disposable vape as less safe than any other mod or electronic cigarette that follows the same regulations, although this would also require correct use of the device.
When using an advanced vape kit, or something you're not completely used to, it's important to ensure that you understand how to use the device. We always advise to read product descriptions, manufacturer guidelines, and instructions to make sure you understand how to use and to prevent any issues. If you purchase anything from Royal Flush Vape and require further assistance, please be sure to reach out to us where a member of our customer support team will work with you to answer any queries.
As discussed, there has been a sharp increase in negative media reports regarding disposable vape products, although many are worried that their disposable vape may not be safe and can be put off entirely from electronic cigarettes.
With a strong ethos on providing safer alternatives to smoking, we feel that it's important to ensure that you have all the facts to make your own informed decision. Below we highlight the key areas of discussion in the press when it comes to disposable vapes whilst going into further detail on all areas covered.
One of the leading headlines you may read in the press is related to underage vaping. Much like many age gated products, the sale of vaping products to those under the age of 18, and underage vaping in general is still an ongoing issue. However, you may not be aware that the UK Vaping Industry Association, which is the largest trade body representing the vaping industry has reinforced its call for a range of get-rough measured to crack down on unscrupulous retailers who sell vapes to young people.
“The UKVIA understands the need for the right balance between supporting adult smokers to quit without encouraging take up amongst under-18s and ‘never-smokers."
As an active member of the UKVIA, we completely back their efforts whilst ensuring that we do everything within our power to ensure that only those of the legal age purchase any vape related products from us. In addition to age verification process in store, all customers who purchase from Royal Flush Vape online must pass age checks via our 1account age verification process.
With recent reports by Action on Smoking and Health (ASH) highlighting growing concerns among parents, teachers and local authorities, CEO of Chartered Trading Standards Institute, John Harriman stated:
“We fully support the proposals to ensure there is sufficient funding for local Trading Standards teams, to deal with what is an increasingly significant issue, with an explosion in the sale of non-compliant vapes and concerns around their supply to young people.”
Here at Royal Flush Vape we stand by leading UKVIA and government bodies to ensure the sale of vape products is correctly age restricted and don't fall into the hands of those underage.
As discussed previously, the vape industry is heavily regulated by TRPR, although those looking to make money from the sale of illegal vaping products will continue to push their products through non reputable shops and online marketplaces.
Most commonly, press headlines that discuss harmful materials found within disposable vapes highlight they are found within devices which are non-compliant to TRPR regulations. In a recent test by Baxter College, lab co-founder David Lawson stated that "none of these should be on the market - they break all the rules on permitted levels".
Although disposable vapes are now readily available in the likes of petrol stations, local corner shops and even other non related vape stores such as takeaways and phone shops, you have to ask yourself why these are being sold in these environments and if they have your health in their best interests.
According to Westminster City Council, raids carried out this year removed more than £1 million of fake vaping goods from Oxford Street's sweet and souvenir shops in the last 15 months.
In May 2023, a factory worker who managed A-Z Booze in Yorkshire was also charged under the Trade Marks Act 1994 relating to counterfeit tobacco products, including disposable vapes.
With numerous other headlines and reports highlighting illegal vapes on the market, it's clear to see that the majority of unsafe disposable vapes come from those looking for a quick profit outside of the vape industry.
We must advise that you make sure to check any vaping product you want to purchase to ensure it follows TRPR regulations. Always look out for reputable vape stores who have a track record of preventing the underage sale of vaping products and only stock TRPR compliant products as a general rule of thumb.
One key area of worry and a frequent headline in the press relates to the environmental impact of disposable vape products. Unfortunately like with any single use products available today, there are many guidelines when it comes to recycling which can cause confusion on if products are recyclable or how to dispose of them safely.
According to an article in the BBC, they highlight that many are unaware that disposable vaping products could be recycled with one consumer stating "[they] had no idea they were recyclable and that the "messaging could definitely be improved".
To limit your impact on the environment, whilst also ensuring you dispose of your used disposables safely, its important to safely recycle. The easiest and most convenient way to do so is by taking them to a local battery recycle point.
Here at Royal Flush Vape we are committed to minimising our carbon footprint. For this reason, we completely adhere to the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) regulations. If you purchase any electronic product from us, we will safely dispose of your product for you to minimise environmental impact.
To recycle with Royal Flush Vape, simply return your unwanted electrical goods purchased from us. All of our stores provide battery recycle points where you can safely recycle your disposable vapes and other electrical vaping products.
If you are confident and want to recycle disposable vapes yourself, ensure that you separate the battery from the device itself and recycle all components separate depending on the materials used.
Much like other forms of vaping, disposable vapes play a vital role in helping those quit smoking. Professor Peter Hajek, Queen Mary University London and independent author of the review stated:
"My reading of the evidence is that smokers who switch to vaping remove almost all the risks smoking poses to their health. Smokers differ in their needs and I would advise them not to give up on e-cigarettes if they do not like the first one they try. It may take some experimentation with different products and e-liquids to find the right one."
With preference on flavour, strength and style of vaping being numerous factors in the chance of success when it comes to quitting smoking through vaping, which product works can vary. The overall goal is to find a vaping experience that helps you replace tobacco products, this can be either completely at first, or a way to slowly replace tobacco with vaping.
Due to the simple use and availability of disposable vape devices, many who choose to quit smoking may do so with disposables. It's vital to ensure that people people looking to quit smoking with vaping are not put off from headlines in the press. Chief Executive of health charity ASH stated:
“Smoking is much more harmful than vaping and smoking remains the biggest threat to our children’s health."
With guidance set out by the National Health Service (NHS), Public Health England (PHE) and Action on Smoking and Health (ASH) all pointing to vaping being a a safer alternative to smoking and a successful quitting aid, it's important to understand the facts to make your own informed decision on vaping.
The increasing popularity of disposables can be linked to the numerous advantages that they provide, below are a few examples on the advantages of disposable vape devices:
With an appealing list of advantages that disposable vapes provide, it's also important to point out that they do have their limitations and drawbacks:
Similar to other vaping mods, pod kits and sub ohm devices, disposable vapes are available in many styles, flavours and designs which cater for all preferences. Although preference plays its part, below we highlight the most popular disposable vapes available here at Royal Flush Vape:
In most cases when you vape an empty disposable vape you will get what's called a dry hit. This is caused by dry cotton being heated up the coil which can create a burnt taste. It is strongly advised against vaping any empty vape as you would be directly inhaling burnt cotton. The good news is that generally disposable vape batteries are optimised to match the e-liquid capacity to help prevent vaping an empty disposable vape.
Disposable vape devices provide 2ml of e-liquid capacity with a battery optimised to match. For this reason a disposable vape pen will last around 600 puffs which is the equivalent to a pack of 20 cigarettes.
Disposable vapes have many benefits which are linked to their rising popularity. For the most part, the cheaper upfront price and simplicity of disposables creates the largest benefits, however the wide selection available and their ability to help those quit smoking without harmful chemicals such as tar and carbon monoxide is another great benefit.
Disposable vape devices provide 2ml of e-liquid which provide around 600 puffs, this is equivalent to one pack of 20 cigarettes. On a price comparison, this makes disposable vapes much cheaper than smoking whilst being around 95% safer as highlighted by Public Health England (PHE).
Like with any battery, if disposable vapes are not recycled correctly, or simply thrown away they can cause electronical and hazardous chemical waste into the environment. Vapes are classed as Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEE). This means that consumers should dispose of them at a household recycling centre, or at the shop where they bought the device.
Public Health England (PHE) currently estimate that vaping is 95% less harmful than smoking. Although highlighted as safer, it's important to ensure that you use TRPR compliant vaping products.

Introducing ELFLIQ: Official and genuine Elf Bar Flavours in a bottle! That's right, you can now purchase your most loved Elf Bar Nic Salt E-Liquids for use in any refillable device!
Long gone are the days when Elf Bar flavours were only available in a disposable vape, in this article I will share my experience transitioning from vaping disposable devices to refillable pod kits and some of the flavours which made it so easy.
Having bought myself a small pod kit (a Caliburn G) and sampled a selection of the bottled e-liquid flavours available at the time, I always felt something was lacking and returned to the disposables... Until now!
Over the past few months, the market has seen a massive increase in disposable type e-liquids, from Bar Juice 5000 which is made by the same Chinese e-liquid manufacturer as used in Geek Bars (Hangsen) to UK-made brands such as VLTZ.
The type of e-liquid contained in most disposable vapes is made with synthetic nicotine, highly concentrated, sweet flavourings and special cooling agents, which gives it that signature taste and throat hit. In the past, e-liquid brands haven't been able to replicate the sweetness and flavour of disposable vapes, however many have now nailed it, including, obviously ELFLIQ which uses exactly the same formula.
Having watched the market explode with the likes of Bar Juice 5000 (manufactured by Hangsen) who emulated the flavours with great success, it was only a matter of time before Elf got involved. Officially announced in May 2022 at the Vaper Expo in Birmingham, ELFLIQ is the official e-liquid brand by Elf Bar, no imitations, this is the real thing! Quite simply, ELFLIQ is exactly the same formula used in the world's most popular disposable vape device, Elf Bar.
ELFLIQ is available in 10mg (1%) and 20mg (2%) nicotine strengths at launch, however we fully expect 5mg (0.5%) and 0mg (0%) to be released in the near future.
ELFLIQ e-liquid is suitable for use with any low powered pod kit or device, a popular choice would be the Joyetech Widewick or Elf Bar Mate Kit by Elf Bar used alongside the refillable Elf Bar Mate pods.
After much anticipation Elfliq is now finally in stock to purchase on our website, having landed directly from Elfbar on 17th November 2022.
ELFLIQ E-Liquids are available in 12 of the best selling Elf Bar flavours at launch with more planned for release at a later date, these flavours include:
On 17th March 2023, ELUX decided to jump on the bandwagon and release their own range of disposable type flavours based on 12 of the most popular ELUX Legend Disposable Vapes.
The ELUX Legend Nic Salt range is officially made by Eluxtech from high quality ingredients and are TPD compliant and MHRA notified.
Elux (based in China) are one of the leading manufacturers of Disposable Vape Devices and have become one of the fastest growing brands within the vaping industry. Eluxtech's range of easy to use and single use vape devices come in a wide range of premium flavours and use high quality materials and designs.
They are available in both 10mg and 20mg nicotine strengths, with 5mg hopefully to follow.
They’re available to buy right now, here at Royal Flush Vape!
As mentioned earlier in the article, ELFLIQ is not the only e-liquid of this kind, in fact the first to market was Bar Juice 5000 followed by VLTZ, the reviews speak for themselves and the range of flavours is extensive.
VLTZ is the latest brand to focus on "disposable type" e-liquids, although unlike other brands VLTZ is made right here in the UK. Royal Flush Vape are authorised stockists of VLTZ, we carry the full range of E-Liquids which are available in our 3 for £9.99 deal, as well as the re:fuel semi-disposable device.
Bar Juice 5000 were the first to bring disposable type liquids to market, initially released in a range of ten Elf Bar like flavours and further expanded to include ten more popular flavours similar to the Elux Bar. Bar Juice is Manufactured in China by Hangsen and has been one of our best selling ranges of 2022!
The Top 10 Flavours include:
In our quest to bring our customers a more affordable and environmentally friendly alternative to disposable e-cigarettes, we have welcomed this "New Generation" of e-liquids and with such a wide range of flavours, strengths and brands available, there has never been a better time to get yourself a proper pod kit setup and save yourself some money.
Having sampled many of the e-liquids discussed in this article I am confident enough to recommend these products to disposable vape users, honestly, you will never look back!
If you have any questions or need any advice on switching to a pod kit from disposables, please leave a comment or contact our dedicated customer support team who are always happy to help!
And that sums up how I managed to save myself a small fortune whilst continuing to enjoy the flavours I had grown to love, I hope this has been helpful and happy vaping!

]]>We are always on the lookout for exciting quality products to provide to our loyal customers, with this in mind our partnership with Ohm Brew was inevitable. Ohm Brew were established in Belfast in 2017 and their company ethics closely align with our own.
The Ohm Brew Nic Salts Range is somewhat different to other brands, in that the strengths offered are 3mg, 6mg, 12mg and 18mg rather than the usual 5mg, 10mg and 20mg offered by the majority of other Nic Salt ranges.
With a massive range of 30 flavours and 4 different Nicotine strengths, there should be something to suit everyone.
To find out more about Ohm Brew we asked Marketing Manager Dominic for a interview.
Left to right – Samuel McIlhatton (Logistics Manager), Derek Payne (Operations Director), Danny Bradley (Brand & Product Development), Dominic Sharkey (Marketing Manager), Beth McIlhatton (Logistics & Sales Support)
It all started back in 2017, when two large vape store chains got together and decided to create their own products to bring to the UK market. WeBottle Ltd was born, releasing our very own in-house brand – Ohm Brew. We had initially started off with selling shortfills, but then made the move into 10ml nic salts and to be frankly honest, Nic salts are what we’re best known for.
Almost 6 years later we’ve continued to go from strength to strength, to date we’ve created anything and everything from CBD e-liquids to 50:50 freebase options and more recently, disposable vape devices.
Ohm Brew Batch Manufacturing Record
At Ohm Brew, we’re a vaping brand from within the vaping community – which means we cater to the taste of everyone. Whether you’re a beginner or a vaping veteran, there’s truly something for everyone.
We are an ethical company and only use the highest quality ingredients – so , we take the compliance very seriously and are aware of the negativity that surrounds the vaping industry. We are passionate about making everything we do 100% traceable. That’s why every batch is GC-MS tested for quality and regulatory compliance and produced in our ISO 9001 accredited factory.
Every one of our flavours are brewed here right in the heart of Belfast city – we are proud to be a local manufacturer that specialises in producing the finest e-liquids for modern vapers.
We achieve this by taking a no compromise streamlined approach on manufacturing best practices, efficiencies in process and quality of raw ingredients.
The result? We never leave a drop out of place.
Anyone who knows Ohm Brew – knows our Blue Slush. It’s our top selling flavour by a distance – but here at Ohm Brew we know that not all blends are created equal…. So we’ve earmarked our top 10 for you guys:
Ohm Brew Boxed Products
Covid was a massive challenge for the entire vape industry, as we are a manufacturer we were able to continue business as normal, but we felt the impact on the bricks and mortar stores having to close temporarily due to the lockdowns.
We noticed a shift in consumer buying behaviour with most people having to go online or visit their local convenience store or supermarket for their vaping requirements.
It took a little while for things to pick up again after that for most shops, our stockists who had no online stores in place had no means of selling to their customers due to the lockdowns were the shops who struggled the most and as a result, B2B orders were drying up for us.
Since then, we’ve noticed that a lot more of our retailers have now got fully pledged e-commerce websites up and running, which definitely is one of the positives to take.
Ohm Brew Production Line
We’ve got some really exciting stuff coming in the year ahead!
Due to continued growth in 2022, we have secured additional space to double the size of manufacturing and increase the level of automation to cater for the overwhelming increase in demand for our products. Works have been ongoing over the last couple of months and we’re getting closer to completing the expansion.
The main focus and always has been to continue creating awesome products for the vape community and whilst we don’t want to give away too much, there’s some truly special stuff on the way.
Watch this space.
Royal Flush Vape are authorised stockists of Ohm Brew, we carry the full range of balanced blends Nic Salts which are available in our 3 for £9.99 deal.

As you may know, here at Royal Flush Vape we pride ourselves on great customer service and rapid dispatch and delivery times, however we do rely on our delivery partners Royal Mail and DPD to get your orders to you quickly once they have left our warehouse. It was brought to our attention last week by our account manager at Royal Mail that there would be strike action taking place over the coming weeks.
Whilst this isn't ideal, it is completely out of our hands. We expect to see a significant impact on estimated delivery times both during and following the strike action, we also have a Bank Holiday in between the first strike action days.
Royal Mail workers will strike on four days in August and September which are planned for the following dates:
In addition to this, Monday 29th August is a Bank Holiday and there will be no collection or deliveries by either Royal Mail or DPD on this day.
We strongly recommend placing your orders well before the days of strike action and Bank Holiday to ensure your parcel reaches you on time as any Royal Mail orders placed during this time may be subject to delays.
If you do place an order during these times we would recommend opting for DPD, which we are offering for £1.99 for all orders over £20 and free for all orders over £50 for the duration of the strike action period.
Read more about our delivery options here.

]]>VLTZ is the latest brand to focus on "disposable type" e-liquids, although unlike other brands VLTZ is made right here in the UK. In our quest to bring our customers even more environmentally friendly and cost effective alternatives to disposables, our partnership with VLTZ was born.
VLTZ flavours are predominantly sweet, cool and distinctively fruity. Formulated to work with low power vapes and provide one of the greatest flavour intensities of any e-liquid range we stock.
To find out more about VLTZ we visited Dan at the Vaper Expo for an interview.
VLTZ Launched in early 2022 and was created by Totally Wicked in the heart of Lancashire. With over 14 years of industry leading experience, this e-liquid range is made in the UK using the highest quality ingredients to provide the same great flavours as the leading disposables in a 10ml bottle.
Disposables have been great in so many ways for the vaping Industry by providing an easy alternative to smoking. However, they have also created a huge challenge. Although to many they seem like a cheap way to vape, the long term costs are much more expensive than an open tank kit. Plus, the environmental impact of kits you just throw away is much higher than traditional forms of vaping. This is where VLTZ comes in!
In 2022 we set out on a mission to provide a journey for disposable users to switch to an open tank system without compromising on flavour and convenience.
The name VLTZ was created to match the ‘supercharged’ flavours inside each bottle.
VLTZ itself was formed because of the massive shift in vaping trends during covid. Before the first lockdown, large powerful mod kits were extremely popular and vapers wanted a kit that could produce huge clouds. Now people want a small and convenient kit with less vapour and more flavour.
When we initially launched the VLTZ e-liquid the most popular flavours were Sweet Strawberry and Blue Razz Lemonade. However, we recently released a new flavour Peach Ice that has proved to be even more popular.
Another flavour that has been a hit is Banana Ice. When meeting customers in store and at trade shows they cant get enough of this flavour. Although it may not be everyone’s first pick when choosing a flavour, from the feedback we have received once you’ve tried it you won’t go back.
Whether you’re a social smoker looking for the healthier alternative of a disposable to take out with you on a Friday night, or need a more sustainable refillable solution, the VLTZ range allows you to enjoy great flavour in a way that suits you.
We have just launched the VLTZ flex which provides the same supercharged flavours in prefilled pods. This has already proved extremely popular as it provides the equivalent of 2 disposables in 1.
Royal Flush Vape are authorised stockists of VLTZ, we carry the full range of E-Liquids which are available in our 3 for £9.99 deal, as well as the flex device and pods.
You can view the full VLTZ range here.
Available for a limited time, get the Joyetech Widewick + 3x VLTZ E-liquids for only £18.97, this promotional bundle is the equivalent of up to 15 standard disposable vape kits!

]]>Manabush has been around since 2012 specialising in tobacco flavouring within their e-liquids. What originally started out as a hobby has now gained traction with the brand winning multiple awards, including best tobacco at Vaper Expo and a few of the same on Ecigone Click awards. Although achieving so much, founder Martyn highlights that awards don’t do much for him, with his greatest sense of achievement being with the emails they received from people stating how their e-liquids helped them kick the ciggies.
Everything that Manabush stands for follows suit with our ethos at Royal Flush Vape, which is why we proudly stock a varied collection of their 10mls and short fill e-liquids. The team here at Royal Flush Vape do everything in their power to help people give up smoking for a much healthier lifestyle and e-liquid brands such as Manabush make this possibility much easier, whilst also providing quality e-liquids for those who have been vaping for many years!
To find out more about Manabush, we sat down with the founder Martyn to talk about the origins of the brand and to hear the story so far, alongside future plans for Manabush.
Manabush have now been providing premium e-liquids for a decade since launching pretty much by accident in 2012. Since the humble beginnings to the well established brand it has now become, we ask Martyn more about why he started the brand all these years ago and where the true name and meaning of Manabush originated.
The Brand was started, pretty much by accident back in 2012, as a hobbyist mixer, the few juices I made soon gained in popularity on the enthusiast forums to the point I had to find a name to go with them, this in turn led to it eventually becoming a business.
The Name came about because the very earliest Juices I made were based around tobacco and maple. I was (and remain) a big fan of The Cult and Adam and the Ants, and a band named Claytown Troupe - all of whom drew heavily on Native American art works for their image. The name Manabush and Nokomis are (to simplify heavily) spirits in some Native American mythologies entwined with how man first learned to get Maple from the maple tree. That coupled with my musical tastes decided on my direction for the brand.
Covid has been hard on us all within (and of course outside) of the industry, I have seem many of my peers and friends go to the wall - and many people have lost their livelihoods, I doubt there is a company out there who has not felt the squeeze this pandemic has put on the industry - and its effect on society as a whole has been truly shocking.
Over the past 10 years, Manabush has been supplying their e-liquids to fans across the globe. With so many years active alongside such a dedicated fan base, it’s no surprise that the brand has picked up numerous awards over their years. We delved deeper with Martyn to find out more about their achievements, what they mean to him personally and what makes Manabush stronger than others.
That's a really difficult question to answer! One month it can be one... one month another - I think the top five sellers of the last few months have been Tribute Chiricahua Sun, Powwow Sauce, Chiricahua Sun, Chiri Blond, Gran Corona and an honourable mention too eggnog and Snowball because it's been Christmas and they always do well then.
Achievement eh... I don't really put a great deal of stock in awards and stuff like that - we have won several including best tobacco at Vaper Expo a few years ago and a few of the same on Ecigone Click awards in the past, but they don't mean an awful lot to me, my greatest sense of achievement is when we get emails from people telling us how our juices have helped them to kick the ciggies - that's what it is all about to me.
I'm not sure any e-liquid is better than any others! Taste is subjective to the taster! So rather than say “why is ours better” I’d rather say “why are ours different” - The answer to which is I think we still value tobacco as a flavouring (though we do many non-tobacco based flavours these days). I myself have retained the love of tobacco flavouring rather than moving away towards fruits or desserts etc, but I do appreciate those others as well .. in our core ranges - right from the very beginning we have tried to incorporate the best of both worlds. I’m willing to be proved wrong on this, but I am fairly certain we made the very first “tobacco custard” with Powwow Sauce back in 2011 - 2012... before we even had a name for the juice.
With a greater understanding of Manabush’s origins, we were excited to hear about future plans that the brand has going into 2022 and beyond. We asked what was planned in the upcoming years.
2022, well... who knows! Certainly we have a new dessert range planned as part of our Base Zero / Divergents ranges (our non tobacco ranges) - and I fully intend to explore our Leaf and twisted Leaf ranges (our latest tobacco ranges) far more.
Oh who knows? You never know what's round the corner!
Here at Royal Flush Vape we proudly stock Manabush e-liquids as we continue to provide a much healthier alternative to smoking. The tobacco flavoured e-liquids have been received excellently by our customers, especially with those wanting to quit smoking and transition to vaping. You can pick up any of the Manabush 10ml e-liquids in our 4 for £12 deal or any of the shortfills available if you’re looking for the perfect sub-ohm tobacco vape.
Powwow Sauce 10ml - A satisfying blend of dark and light tobacco, combined with sweet biscuit and a layer of familiar dessert top note. Designed for those looking for a lighter, yet flavoursome vape, Powwow Sauce is a perfect all day vape that hits the spot.
Chiricahua Sun 10ml - A mild tobacco base with a truly unique sweet nutty topping layered with golden syrup. The name Chiricahua is a tribute to the whole concept of Manabush branding and idea with a flavour that is close to founder Martyn's heart.
Nokomis 10ml - Blending dark and light tobacco alongside some added biscuity sweetness, Nokomis provides an excellent throat hit with great vapour production. With a light sweet tobacco inhale followed by a darker biscuit flavoured exhale for a great all day vape.
Nokomis Amped - Taking the famous flavours from Nokomis with added caramel and maple overtones to create a creamier and slightly sweeter vaping experience. Nokomis Amped provides a satisfying everyday vape without being overpowering.
Chiricahua Sun Reloaded - With Chiricahua Sun being one of the greatest achievements for Manabush, this reloaded creation invites a somewhat nuttier and slight golden syrup hit with a less sweet flavour profile overall.
Powwow Sauce Extended - Taking the top notes from Powwow layered on the new Nokomis Amped base to create a magnified creamy dessert topping. Combined with the original tobacco custard e-liquid, Powwow Sauce Extended provides an excellent vaping experience.
As we continue increasing our e-liquid collections, we look forward to working alongside Manabush in 2022 to continue providing premium e-liquids to our customers who already vape, but most importantly help those looking to quit smoking.
