Exceed Grip Pro by Joyetech
The Exceed Grip Pro by Joyetech. The Exceed Grip Pro is a variable wattage pod kit with an internal 1000mAh battery and has a maximum output of 40W. Exceed Grip Pro has an easy side fill port and patented leak proof technology, it utilises the Joytech EZ coils which are available in 0.4 ohm and 1.2 ohm resistance. A sliding airflow on the side of the pod allows you to customise it to your perfect vape.
It’s not often we get to explore something new from Joyetech, they’re not a company known to flood the market with kits in all categories but what they are known for is the superior quality of devices they create at affordable price tags.
Joyetech are one of the leading manufacturers within the vaping industry dating back to the early beginnings; I personally first gave up smoking with the help of their eGo kits and many others have benefited from their perfectly crafted devices.
So with something new and promising from Joyetech, it’s time to take an in-depth look at the Exceed Grip Pro. This kit is the latest release from the existing Grip range, we've already had the two pod kits from Joyetech with the Exceed Grip and the eGrip Mini and now it’s time for a possible upgrade.
Without whittling on about Joyetech, let’s look into what this latest kit can offer and if it’s a pod kit worth getting excited for...
On first unboxing the Joyetech Exceed Grip Pro, you’re met with everything you’d expect with the mod, pod and USB cable with a nice inclusion of a little lanyard to carry the kit around with.
On taking the device out of the box my first initial impressions were with the size, wow this is a small powerful looking kit, something I'll go into more detail with below.
Measuring just a little taller than an 18650 battery with drip tip attached and smaller than a Fetch Pro and Fetch Mini the Joyetech Exceed Grip Pro is a well packed pod kit definitely small enough to fit in any pocket!
I personally reviewed the Gunmetal device the overall finish is just fantastic. The colour scheme spreads across the device giving a clean well built feeling
The large centre placed fire button on the Exceed Grip Pro is perfectly for an ergonomic grip. The button has a very nice click to it too.
In addition, the Grip Pro also has a rocker styled button on the bottom of kit just above the charging port which adds to the sleek design of the kit. The button is also nice and clicky and looks as though it is only the one button.
Unfortunately due to the Exceed Grip Pro device being designed a little back, Joyetech haven't included Type-C charging capabilities on this kit which may come as a disappointment to some.
With the device only having a 1000mAh internal battery, this isn't something to massively worry about as even with micro-USB charging, the battery will still charge quick enough and will definitely last with lower wattage MTL vaping.
The Joyetech Exceed Grip Pro takes the minimalistic approach but has everything that you would be looking for within a pod kit. With a no nonsense interface, this kit is ready to fire on first picking up without having to ensure all the correct settings are configured.
Turning on/off the device is the usual five clicks of the fire button with the additional navigation settings:
Fire button three times = Lock/unlock the device
Both menu function buttons together = Enter the setting interface
Right side of function button = Increase wattage
Left side of function button = Decrease wattage
The settings interface on the Exceed Grip Pro doesn’t over complicate things either. This menu is essentially there to adjust the coil to its optimal settings.
One thing you may have already noticed or heard about with the Joyetech Exceed Grip Pro is the EZ cartridge. Instead of attaching on top of the battery like the conventional tank or pod setup, the EZ pod easily clips within the device itself on the side of the internal battery.
This is a feature I really do like; By having the EZ pod in this location it is always exposed which allows for a visible juice window in the almost clear PCTG plastic it's made from.
One thing to note is there's only one way to slide the EZ cartridge into the device with the coil positioned on the bottom.
Refilling the EZ pod is, well easy! Simply follow the below instructions;
Pull EZ Pod Out From Side of Device
 Pull Back Silicone Bung
Add Your Favourite E-Liquid From Royal Flush Vape
 Plug Silicone Bung Back
Place EZ Pod Back Into Side of Device (Coil Facing Down)
Wait a Few Minutes For Adequate Saturation
So without any further delay, let's look into how the Exceed Grip Pro vapes with the EZ pod included.
With it getting colder in these winter months, the e-liquid choice for this test was Strawberry Donut in a bid to warm up!
With a recommended wattage between 20-32W there isn't much room to play with when it comes to the 0.4ohm mesh coil.
The mesh surface area is definitely large, especially for a MTL pod kit. With the additional four wicking points around the coil, it sure does soak up the e-liquid perfectly to ensure the coil is fully saturated throughout.
Starting at the lower ends of the recommended settings around 20W wow this can chuck out some clouds! I was honestly set back with the amount that this coil can produce. The vape was very smooth and the flavour was fantastic. The strawberry perfectly infused with the donut flavour in the background and similar to what I would expect on a much bigger sub-ohm kits.
Moving up to the top end around 30W the flavour improved significantly. There was even more cloud that I thought possible and the vape warmed up greatly! Definitely more fitting for a dessert vape. The coil put up with the increased wattage very well and I could get a decent yet restricted DTL too which is always pleasant!
Moving forward onto the 1.2ohm EZ coil, it's clear to see this is created with a MTL vape in mind. With the surface area being much smaller and recommended wattage of around 7-13W let's hope the flavour is as great as the 0.4ohm coil.
Starting the testing with the airflow fully open in the middle ground of 10W it is definitely more restrictive than the 0.4ohm coil although a restrictive DTL vape is possible.
The flavour quality matched that of the 0.4ohm coil and was fantastic with the donut and strawberry infusing deliciously!
Cloud production was no match in comparison to the 0.4ohm coil although once again it surprised me with producing more than expected with a coil build like this.
For a MTL vape turning the airflow to a minimum definitely created a much more pleasant vape all round. The inhale was still very smooth and the flavour came through excellently.
For me the 0.4ohm coil fits my preference more, although many will find the 1.2ohm is the one for them.
Overall I have to say that I'm blown away by the Joyetech Exceed Grip Pro! This amazing little AIO kit is everything you'll need for an all day vape with fantastic flavour and impressive battery life for a 1000mAh internal battery.
I would highly recommend the Exceed Grip Pro to anybody at the beginning of their vaping journey and needs a starter kit that will last them throughout the day with a very easy to use navigation and controls.
It's not often I get to review a new Joyetech product and I'm glad I got the chance to review this one! Honestly if you haven't got one or never had a Joyetech product, I cannot recommend the Exceed Grip Pro enough!
