First Impressions

Right out of the box there's a definite great quality build and feel throughout with the Drag X. Voopoo continue their typical buttons without over complications. You'll only find a well placed and centred fire button alongside up and down buttons, and that's all that's really required! In addition you'll also find the USB-C charging port below the buttons. It's nice to see Voopoo implementing this type of charging and on tests this fast charging got the device from 0% to 100% in as little as 20 minutes!

The Voopoo Drag X takes a single 18650 battery at either 2500 mAh or 3000 mAh which is easily inserted from the bottom alongside variable wattage controls up to 80W. The device is definitely created to last the day for your vaping needs.

With the addition of a 0.96" TFT screen which clearly displays information required, including puff counter, wattage and battery life, alongside ability to lock the wattage and device itself to avoid any accidental dry hits which is always appreciated.

Regarding durability, I have no worries with this pod kit; The bottom of the device is supported by rubber feet which prevents the core device touching rough materials. In addition, the inclusion of a leather back the overall feel is fantastic and definitely creates a flush and sleek design.

Overall the mod itself isn't too heavy, especially for an external battery device, whilst also not being too light that you will forget which pocket you have it in... although in my experience the Drag X was never out of my hands!

But now we get onto the main event, the pod itself. From what I've seen it's by far one of the better ones out there, in my personal opinion anyway! The pod is extremely well made and the mouthpiece is perfectly sized and feels silky smooth on the lips. But how does it vape?...

POD & How It Vapes

The Voopoo PnP coils combined with the variable wattage on this pod kit make the Voopoo Drag X one of the best mods I've ever tried let alone pod kits; The mesh coils are amazing and provide full mouth watering flavour alongside plenty of vapour at the same time.

PnP VM6 Mesh Coil (0.15ohm)

The VM6 coil comes with recommended use at 60W-80W with 10mg nicotine or less. I tested this coil out with a higher VG liquid, Grape Berry by The Sweet Stuff and mixed to 3mg. I started out my testing at 5W to break the coil in and not surprisingly not a lot happened. All the way up to around 15W you'l get the same flavour lacking vape until it really starts to begin. It's around 40W when you'll start to notice the amazing flavour start to come through. The grape and berries really began to infuse wonderfully together for a very pleasant vape alongside a rather impressive cloud.

60W is where the flavour really begins to appear, after all it is the bottom end of the recommended area from Voopoo. From the initial fire to the end, you'll get constant beautifully crafted flavour throughout. With a nice big cloud but nothing in comparison to higher up the scale. At the maximum recommendation of 80W the vapour production is highly impressive, you get a very large thick cloud, however you do lose that little bit of flavour compared to 60W. This is why I found the sweet spot for this coil directly in the middle at 70W.

PnP VM1 Mesh Coil (0.3ohm)

The VM1 coil comes with recommended use at 32W-40W, again with 10mg nicotine or less. I continued to use the Grape Berry by The Sweet Stuff for this test to keep everything comparable. Also starting again at 5W-10W, the coil brings through enough vapour for a little cloud however yet again not much flavour at this wattage range.

20W begins to create a decent cloud which I found rather impressive for 20W alongside flavour really beginning to come through. At the bottom end of the recommendations from Voopoo, at 32W the coil really begins to start its flavour journey. The berries and grape start to become very well rounded and create for a rather pleasant vape however once again vapour production is rather low.

I then pushed the boundaries testing up to 50W (10W over recommended) and the coil noticeably started to struggle a little. The cloud created was definitely a lot larger, but the flavour didn't change dramatically, especially with the additional strain on the coil. I found my perfect balance at the top of the scale being 40W. The flavour was well rounded and the vapour production was more than enough.

Refilling the Pod

• Pull Plastic Pod Section From Base
• Remove Rubber Plug at Base of Pod
• Add Your Favourite E-Liquid From Royal Flush Vape
• Place Back Together Same Way You Took Apart
• Wait Around 5 Minutes For Adequate Saturation

Final Thoughts

I'm highly amazed with the Voopoo Drag X, it combines extremely good build quality, a feature-packed screen which makes it one of the best pod kits I've ever tried. If you're looking for a new pod kit or thinking of swapping to a pod device then I would be hard pushed to recommend anything other than the likes of the Drag X.

TL;DR:Excellent Compact MTL Device with Great Build Quality and Excellent Friendly Interface. Utilising the PnP Pod with External 18650 Batteries, Flavour Is Immense & Will Last the Day.
