Hello everybody, Josh here with something new from Innokin, the Coolfire Z50 kit! Unlike other brands on the market, Innokin don't seem to bring as many products out these days so when they do it's really exciting. Innokin have been around since 2011 so they have an extensive range of devices dating back.

Device First Impressions
On first unboxing the Colfire Z50 kit, you're met with an impressive collection accessories and spare parts, from O-rings to drip tips there's definitely enough to keep you going. Although the packaging is rather basic the device really stands out.
Quality wise, the Coolfire Z50 continues the trend from Innokin, the first thing you notice besides the full itinerary of spare parts is the excellent build quality. The device itself is made from a sturdy zinc alloy with curved sides creating a comfortable ergonomic feel. Without fancy colour schemes, the Coolfire Z50 has a grown up feel about it and hasn't massively changed look wise since their amazing and humble beginnings.
For it's rather small size at 69.5mm x 33mm x 26mm, the Coolfire Z50 device is rather heavy with it's large 2100mAh inbuilt battery which is made to last. It also feels very solid which I imagine would withstand rough handling and a few drops here and there, although I didn't particularity test this.
The front of the device is very bright and clear with its 0.69" OLED display with adequate information displayed. The fire button alongside adjustable buttons are strong and clicky with no rattling or movement throughout the device itself.
The navigation on the Coolfire Z50 is rather simple which makes it very easy to change what you need;
3x Fire Button = On/Off
Fire Button + Up Button = Wattage Mode
Fire Button + Down Button = Voltage Mode
Up/Down Buttons = Adjust Wattage/Voltage
Up Button + Down Button = View Puff Count
Hold Up Button or Down Button = Unlock Wattage/Voltage Adjustment
Long Press Up Button + Down Button = Flip Screen
On the side of the device you'll find the Micro-USB port for both charging and firmware upgrades. It is a little disappointing to not see a Type-C port like other leading brands but it isn't a complete game changer for all. Overall it's nice to see that the quality and design on the Coolfire Z50 follows suit with the predecessors from Innokin, if not being even better.
With this excellent quality and feel throughout the device; Does the included Zlide MTL tank keep up or pull the kit back from being up there with the leading competitors.
Tank & How It Vapes
As highlighted, the Coolfire Z50 Kit comes with the Zlide MTL tank which takes the same coils as the Zenith tank, however the Zlide definitely seems a lot less chunky giving it a nicer looking design throughout.
Innokin have always seemed to market their devices at the beginner vaper and the Coolfire Z50 Kit is no exception as the Zlide tank is obviously created for the MTL vape audience. The finish and design of the tank fit seamlessly with the device and creates a rather appealing yet bulky MTL device.
The tank itself comes apart very easily and everything appears as well built as the device. This makes changing the coil easy too and with smooth strong feeling threads there is little chance of threading the tank.
One thing that is different to other tanks on the market is the childproof protection Innokin have implemented on the Zlide. The top filling port can not be simply accessed and requires the drip tip to be removed beforehand, see below.
Refilling the Tank
- Remove Drip Tip
- Slide Top to One Side
- Add Your Favourite E-Liquid From Royal Flush Vape
- Slide Top Back Into Place
- Re-Insert Drip Tip
- Wait Around 5 Minutes For Adequate Saturation
1.2ohm Coil In Depth Review
I began testing the coils of the Zlide tank with the pre-installed 1.2ohm coil. With this being a MTL kit, I used Watermelon Strawberry Bubblegum nic salts by The Salt Stuff for both coils. The 1.2ohm coil has a recommended wattage range of 10W - 14W.
Starting the test at the lower end of the scale around 10W, the flavour was rather muted with a traditional Mouth To Lung (MTL) vape all round. It wasn't until the top end of the recommended at 14W that the flavour started to come through to my liking. Although saying this, the flavour was rather cool and not as warm as I would have liked. This would work perfectly for those who prefer a cooler vape, in particular menthol or fruit flavours. The watermelon and bubblegum really came through but the Strawberry was sort of lost.
With the airflow at the tightest possible selection and the wattage still up at 14W, you can get a decent jump in flavour and the full range of flavour from the nic salt I was using really did come through to create a pleasant all round MTL vape. I think that I'm so used to vaping on pod kits and sub-ohm devices that I have become used to a warmer vape, especially with my love of dessert and custard short fill e-liquids.
0.8ohm Coil In Depth Review
The recommended wattage for the 0.8ohm coil is between 15W - 18W. As highlighted before, I really do prefer a warmer vape and this really did deliver. Starting at the lower end of 15W with the same Watermelon Strawberry Bubblegum nic salts by The Salt Stuff, the flavour was much more there than on the 1.2ohm coil, with signs of improvement.
At 18W I found the flavours became merged together and created a much warmer vape, especially when compared to the other coil Innokin provide straight out the box. Surprisingly, it was right in the middle around 17W that I found the sweet spot on the 0.8ohm coil. At this setting with the airflow at half, I got a really pleasant MTL vape with the full flavour profile of The Salt Stuff flavours merging really well together.
Overall Innokin have managed to carry on their excellent build quality in their Coolfire range to the Coolfire Z50 kit. The device is very ergonomic creating a nice fell all round, it's a bit of a shame they haven't utilised Type-C charging capabilities when their competitors seem to be taking this route but it doesn't make the kit fall behind.
With an excellent MTL tank thanks to the Zlide, the full kit is perfect for those on their first steps into the vaping world and for those who prefer a MTL vape and want a device to last throughout the day.
My love for Innokin has always remained throughout my own personal vaping journey although this isn't particularity the kit for me as I've expanded further into the love of Direct To Lung (DTL) devices and sub-ohm kits in general.
