INTRODUCTION

Hi everyone, Josh here with an in depth review on the latest refillable pod kit released from the vape giant Vaporesso, the XROS. If you're up to date with Vaporesso you will have noticed they have released a wide range of products this year across the board to an excellent standard.

With so many pod kits and vape pens on the market, there is a lot of competition, especially with the XROS having a strong resemblance to the likes of the Caliburn and the NFIX.

So with strong competition, what makes the XROS better than the others and who is this kit aimed towards?...

First Impressions

Upon first unboxing the XROS you're met with a slightly different style to what you may be used to with Vaporesso. The box is a darker background style to match the colour of the kit with a sealed rip-cord to open and sliding box to access the device.

You aren't overwhelmed with this kit as there isn't really much to it physically. With the XROS only weighing in at around 54 grams with the pod installed which makes this pod kit very light. Alongside the dimensions of the kit being 112mm x 12mm x 23mm the kit is also very pocket friendly which makes this ideal for an everyday vape. Although for size comparison it is slightly bigger than the Caliburn and NFIX, the XROS carries additional benefits not found with these other devices.

The XROS comes utilises a version of the AXON chip which is excellent at automatically detecting the resistance of the pod which you install and sets the output accordingly without you having to worry about any additional settings.

Overall I really like the design Vaporesso have created, the stainless steel coating feels durable and with it being SUS304 it is also corrosion resistant. The pods fit flush with the device and is held in with 2 strong magnets making for a great fit.

The fire button is well placed with a nice click when pressed. In addition the fire button has a very bright LED indicator below the button which changes from Green/Blue/Red depending on the battery level which also glows red whilst charging and ending on green once fully charged. One disadvantage to this placement of the indicator is that when you hold the device and press the fire button your thumb naturally blocks the light making it hard to see.

One great thing to note is that Vaporesso have followed the trend ad incorporated USB-C charging with the XROS located at the bottom of the device. This is something I really am starting to enjoy as charging times are getting quicker and you'll hopefully soon be able to utilise one USB-C cable throughout all your devices!

The biggest benefit that the XROS provides that isn't found on the likes of the NFIX is adjustable airflow on the device. With adjustable toggle on the back of the device, you can easily control your airflow to your desire. Once set, the airflow toggle stays in place really well and can be utilised for both Direct To Lung (DTL) vape or a restricted Mouth To Lung hit.

Overall I really do like the XROS device and truly do believe it definitely has perks over their competition regarding the core part of the kit. But with all this in mind, how does it vape?...

Pods & How They Vape

The XROS pod kit comes with two pods straight out the box which both feature a non-removable coil. They are both TPD compliant holding 2ml of e-liquid with a removable mouthpiece which reveals the small filling port at the top of the pod. Both pods have clear markings on the bottom to show which coil is installed with two nice magnets which clip the pod into the device nicely. So let's look further into these pods and how they perform.

0.8ohm XROS Mesh Pod

The 0.8ohm pod is an great MTL vape throughout. With the airflow all the way open, the pod delivers a decent loose draw with an impressive cloud for an MTL vape with an all round great flavour. It isn't until the airflow is closed somewhat that the flavour starts to become amazing, for me anyway. If airflow is closed to a bare minimum, the XROS literally creates one of the nicest MTL vapes I've had in a very long time!

1.2ohm XROS Mesh Pod

Surprisingly, the 1.2ohm pod performed almost on par with that of the 0.8ohm coil which I wouldn't have thought with the smaller coil size. I did notice a little more flavour in comparison but nothing too noticeable or extreme. The 1.2ohm coil is the same in comparison with all air flow settings and I personally believe it comes down to preference as some may notice more difference than I did.

Refilling XROS Pod

The pods on the XROS fill quite differently to what you're used to and it's something I really do like! To refill the pod simply;

1. Clip off mouthpiece from pod (better when pod is in device)
2. Fill e-liquid in top filling port hole
3. Clip back on mouthpiece to the pod
4. Allow to soak into coil then enjoy!

Final Thoughts

Overall the XROS is an amazing new entry by Vaporesso and definitely competes with their strongest competition with the NFIX by Smok. If you're looking to stop smoking or know somebody who is, the XROS is a perfect entry level pod kit to help you along your journey. What makes the XROS even better is that it also doubles up as a great everyday vape device for those who have been vaping for some time.

With an amazing battery life and excellent flavour, the XROS is an all round contender to other products in the same category. The choice is all down to preference. If you're looking for variable wattage then you're best choice would be rather with the NFIX by Smok, however if you're looking for variable airflow and a simple interface then look no further than the XROS!
